– HE OFFERED a sheepish smile in response, setting his pencil down for a moment; the conversation was a welcome break from the ongoing struggle he was putting his brain through. “no, no —- you’re fine. i just, uh – i hope i’m not, like, boring.” he let out a quiet laugh, picking up his pencil again – he was never good at keeping his hands still – and tapping the eraser end of it against his notebook in an idle beat. “m’gettin’ it. for now, at least. knowing my dumb ass i’ll forget it by tonight.” he shrugged simply, offering a slightly-too-honest smile.
- HE SMILED in return and leaned back in his chair to stretch and check his watch; his head cocked to the side as he looked back up, looking mildly confused. “you’re not boring.” though on the contrary, henry had come to the conclusion a long time ago that he was a pretty boring person himself, so maybe he’s not the best judge in the world. “we could always do it again if you need to.” he’d started pressing the eraser of his mechanical pencil while he spoke, letting the lead out half an inch or so before holding the eraser down and tapping the end on the table to push it back in and start over again. click click click click... “if you want to.”
