Arguments vs Reason The war was about states rights -> States rights to preserve slavery It's about southern pride-> The Confederacy was created solely on the mission to preserve slavery (paraphrase of the founders quote) It's about history-> The Confederate Army lost, America/The Union won. That's old history, the meanings changed-> The prime flag for American white sepremacy groups which see membership increases during progressive times, such as, the election of President Obama, the Civil Rights Movement I'm not racist, it's my choice-> why do you associate yourself with and promote it by owning anything with its logo on it? Think of it this way. The Confederate flag is to America what the Nazi's swastika was to Germany. (It's a bit of a stretch but still a good argument). Why would you want anything to do with such a prominent symbol that has historically symbolized hate and oppression of people?
