This might be an unpopular opinion but Danielle aka Facing The Dark is genuinely weird with the Melanie Martinez situation.

I just find that while she is a survivor and an advocate, overtime she ended up using her trauma as an excuse for her actions like throwing serious accusations at Melanie‘s fanbase rather than actually taking accountability like when she said “there’s only one group of people who are interested in those colouring books” when reality is you cannot just assume that somebody is a predator especially if you don’t even have proof that they are, in my experience I was simply an 11-year-old kid wanting a colouring book from my former favourite musician without a single weird thought in my head, and plus the colouring book is completely up to the perspective of the person seeing it, so while some people might think the colouring book is weird, others might think it’s perfectly fine because it’s not like the colouring book shows crybaby getting railed or anything.

This is not in defence of Melanie Martinez but I’m just saying it’s incredibly wrong and weird to call a bunch of minors pedos for not finding the colouring book weird and yet again you can’t just assume that without evidence because those are heavy accusations to throw at somebody and apparently we like to water down that term or implication now yet to claim that we are advocates, plus dragging a celebrity’s fans who may be full of minors into the celebrity’s controversies and acting like they are child predators instead of just holding the celebrity accountable or pressuring them to speak up is just stupid. Not a Melanie defender but Danielle‘s takes are genuinely weird (and honestly more harmful than good.)

I remember recently like last week I was laying on my side scrolling in bed when I felt something light land on my cheek, house spiders are known for dropping down right where my head is from the ceiling (mostly the Cellar Spiders), I instinctively touched my cheek and wiped it off and of COURSE it was a Cellar Spider that landed on my face that died when I crushed it. I am inconsolable.

90% of the IT fandom: “I hate Sonia Kaspbrak because she psychologically manipulated her own son into thinking something was sick and wrong with him and that he needed medication when he was actually ok! She did this to keep him under her control!”

That same portion of the fandom: “You like Henry Bowers and already made it clear you don’t support or justify his actions?? HAH! Well, you’re justifying him anyway because I know best about your personal feelings more than you do, and you should seek therapy for supporting such a bad person!! There’s something wrong with you and you need help!!!!”

I just want to say that if you don’t like Henry Bowers that’s OK I don’t give a shit because you’re allowed to like and dislike any fictional character. However there is a line and if you target the fans, especially with the popular comments that say Henry fans need help or are “mentally ill” do not interact with me because that’s not something to throw around just because you like a fictional character that can’t do any harm in real life. I’m sick and tired of hearing the “oh you need help because you like Henry Bowers” thing because that’s such a Sonia Kaspbrak thing to do like making you think that there’s something wrong with you when there really isn’t, because let me tell you that the memory from a few years ago of walking into the therapist’s office with cuts on my arms with a depression crisis and was kind of similar to Henry due to bad mental health and a dysfunctional house is not fun at all and I hate how therapy nowadays is weaponized into small issues, completely ignoring the fact that everyone around them is a human being. You don’t need to agree with Henry fans/supporters, but insulting them personally and telling them they need help over fiction when they are not even hurting anybody crosses a line that you shouldn’t cross. I try to be understanding with you guys as a Henry fan, but you guys are making it incredibly difficult.

I absolutely hate how people on TikTok lack basic comprehension skills nowadays. Because why did I see a TikTok of someone filming a cute drawing they made of their 4 y/o OC worried about if it looked like they were sexualizing the art when they weren’t simply because the OC was sitting and a little bit of their thighs were showing not even in a sexual way and people were rude asf and assuming it was fetishizing children???? Use ur fucking common sense. You draw ANYTHING and people on TikTok who lack basic preschool thinking skills and common sense will STILL accuse you of being problematic, it’s embarrassing. And the fact that those weird morally superior comments ratioed EVERYONE ELSE with a brain is baffling. If you genuinely think basic anatomy is fetishizing kids then you may need to take a close look at yourself and stop trying to act like a moral deity. The fact that artists like the creator are afraid of drawing children in literally ANYTHING when it’s obviously not sexual is sad, because most people lack basic critical thinking because they care about “morals”, when reality is they’re just being weird and accusing the artist of fetishizing children for drawing children in regular non sexual day to day clothes like shorts or dresses, when they’re actually jumping to that uninvited conclusion themselves, which is SUPER weird. If you think someone drawing a child character non sexually in shorts or dresses/skirts is a fetish, u need help.
