these playlists are an attempt at exploring the possible sound that the next taylor swift album might take on.  each playlist holds a tracklist of thirteen songs of her’s that might demonstrate her next era and imagine what they would sound like.

false god: a well awaited return to pop, false god is a sleek, dark, and sultry record like never seen from taylor swift.  this record shows us what would happen if the edge she gained from reputation melded with the masterclass wordsmithing she demonstrated on folklore. At her tenth studio album, swift is showing the world there are still stones she needs to turn over.

haunted: with hot-blooded anthems electrified by boisterous guitar rifts and drum solos like never before presented on a swift album, haunted barges it’s way into the music scene.  Though fresh in sound, the masterful lyricism and classic song structure you know and love from a swift album are still there.  Swift brings us an uproarious and triumphant reimagined take on what a pop-rock album is today.

cowboy like me: a surprising reflection on her roots as an artist, taylor tries her hand at country once again now more confident than ever before.  swift has traded in her synths and catchy hooks for her old acoustic guitar and southern charm.  cowboy like me walks through memory lane with a mature and a deeply uniqiue voice and style.  Swift masterfully continues to broaden the genre’s horizons by deftly incorporating unfamiliar sounds and styles like never before

renegade: with her time in quarantine spent with new found friends of the industry justin vernon and aaron dessner, swift made an apparent shift in sound, and at her tenth studio album she shows that it isn’t going away anytime soon.  a set of ruminative and relatively lo-fi folk and bedroom pop that’s at once comforting and haunting, a refuge and a fever dream.  with its sardonic indie pop punctuated by jazzy instrumentation, soft-rock harmonies, and diaristic revelations, this record instills her spot amongst indie pioneers. everywhere you turn on renegade, there are careful, restrained, and wise observations on the human condition.
