In the beginning, when the spirits walked the earth with people, they bestowed upon them many gifts. Fruits and vegetables were pulled from the earth. Bending was given as a way to defend oneself. Mountains were pushed together to create rich valleys.

And one spirit gave humans the ability to confirm their soulmate. When they touched, they would hear their heartsong play.

Katara heard the stories of the spirits countless times growing up. With her parents always humming the same song, she knew Gran Gran was right, and dreamed of the day she would meet her own soulmate.

She never could have imagined he would be a firebender, let alone the Prince of the Fire Nation, hellbent on chasing them across the world. Is it possible the spirits got her soulmate wrong?

Oh look, it’s me!

This fic was one that I’d been wanting to write for a while, and the Big Bang helped me do that. It’s a love story to me being a band nerd and to the incredible @hereforthezutarastuff , who had suggested ages ago that I attempt a canon-verse soulmate au.
