Synopsis: After experiencing the death of their beloved wives, Jin Itadori and Toji Fushiguro raise their children, alone, believing they can never fall in love again. What happens when Yuji introduces his new friend, megumi from his elementary school to his dad, Jin during pick up?
Context building: Non-Jujutsu sorcery universe. Toji's still an assassin, just not for sorcerers. Shiu is his friend. Yuji still has his grandpa, Kaori did not get lobotomized by kenjaku, but she's dead, Toji has two kids- megumi and tsumiki. Toji cut off his family (zenin clan) because of abuse
They say it gets easier with time; the misery, the pain, it eases out over the years, but does it really? Toji never thought of the future all that much, always deciding to live in the present, but even if he had cared for the future, he never could have prepared himself for the robbery that fate committed.
Toji had seen countless lives fade out in front of him- clients, victims, his own cousins, yet he had never felt that cold, primal grief in his entire life the way he did when his wife's heart monitor dropped to a straight line.
She had died a few days after their second kid was born, an adorable baby boy, who his wife lovingly named Megumi. 'Birth complications,' the doctors had told him, she died just because she brought another life into the world.
He never looked at megumi, only tended to them passively, often times ignoring his daughter as well, but that stoicism only lasted for a year before megumi spoke his first words- papa, and just like that, toji felt like a dam broke.
He cried the way he never had tha night, clutching his babies close to him. It had been years after that incident and although he never really got over his wife, toji was there, he was present and loving to his kids, even if it was in his own broken way.
Now, he was standing outside the elementary school, holding a crying megumi who refused to go to his first day of school, when he saw a flash of pink hair next to him, a man being tugged by an excited boy who looked like a miniature version of the man.
The only way for toji to describe the man was pretty. He had a sense of softness in him- the way he held his son's hand, the smell of strawberry scented fabric softener and hint of chocolates. Toji would be lying if he said the sight didn't make him pause.
Shaking his head, toji let's Megumi out of his arms, placing him on the ground and then crouching down to Megumi's eye level.
"Hey, aren't you my strong boy, Megs?" He asks Megumi, his voice soft the way it only is around his kids. "Oh,i know you. You'd be ruling that playground in no time. Now come on, I'll drop you off, bunny."
After giving Megumi the pep talk for what seemed too long for just 2 minutes, toji drops him off and heads for the train ride home.
Jin's Narrative
After dropping his son off for his first day of school, Jin Itadori stood in the crowded train alone. Not with his Kaori, his wife, his everything, just alone. The pain of losing her had mellowed down over time but it never left. It clung to him when he was alone, it stuck with him when Yuji accomplished any milestones, wishing Kaori were there to be proud of their baby boy, it haunted him in his dreams, through her face and honey like voice.
He never lets Yuji feel like he's missing something, or someone, in his life, even if he never felt complete. But he has taken a vow, to always be there for Yuji, even more so to fill in Kaori's presence. You'd never catch him not being polite or smiling; oh it was very clear whose son Yuji was.
But he couldn't help it when his smiles fade away, the way it does now, as he stood alone facing the massive chest of the hottest guy- wait wait what?
Taken aback by the thought that just crossed his mind, he doesn't catch himself when someone pushes Jin away, landing face first into the stranger's chest
"Oh! I'm sorry man. I didnt- y'know.... Woah..." His voice trailed off as he looked up, gawking at the stranger's face before catching himself.
"I- ah- well... Sorry, yeah- i, yeah" He blabbered, his face getting beet red, thinking to himself, dammit Jin get a hold of yourself.
The stranger's reaction didn't help either. The way he smirked and patted Jin's shoulder made his mind go even more haywire in embarrassment. "S'fine man. Why are you so red anyways?" The tall, black haired man asked while laughing.
"There are just uh- so many people! Exactly, it's just very cramped here." Jin tries his very best excuse.
"Riiight?"
"Riiiighhhht, anyways that's my stop" Jin replies and speeds off the train to the stop
What the hell was that?

What do you think happened to Shiu? Did he grieve his best friend? Did he drown himself in grief even more so? Did he understand Toji grieving his wife and absolutely hated the feeling? How would he have felt if he got to know that Toji came back for just an hour and Shiu wasn't able to meet him? Do you think he ever visited megumi or provided or cared for him after Toji died? Or do you think he couldn't bear to look at megumi, being reminded of Toji and mama guro, his closest friends?
