“That’s a relief. I’m fed up with people who assume stuff. What’s it like there?”
“I’m not a kid. I’m Alecto. What’s your name? It’s so big here, it’s overwhelming.”
“I’m not sure if there’s a way to get back. We’re stuck here, it seems.”
“Oh, it’s a boarding school. In Scotland. It’s not too bad. I actually miss it. Okay, could you help me find the bookstore? I’m not overly picky regarding food. What restaurants are there?”
“It’s probably normal. If a lot of people are saying it, its true.”
“That’d be really great. Thank you. Well, Hogwarts is my school. It’s a boarding school.” She decided to be careful to avoid breaking the statute of magic. It wouldn’t do to accidentally tell a Muggle too much.
“Okay, makes sense. That’s a relief. Some people get really annoyed when I accidentally eavesdrop. I don’t mean to do it, but people end up speaking so loudly it’s difficult to ignore them.”
“Sounds good to me. Where’s the pretzel stand? Could you also please help me find the bookstore? Thank you. You’re amazing.”
“Oh, it’s part of the UK. I keep having people think I’m English, as I haven’t got an obvious accent. It’s annoying. I’m not great at Geography though, so I can’t exactly pinpoint most cities on a map. What about you? Where are you from?”
“True. Nice to meet you. I’m Alecto. Are you from here or did you just turn up randomly too?”
“No, I’m definitely not. Why? Are you?”
“No. I just turned up here randomly. What about you?”
“Okay, thank you. What type of god is he? I’ve heard of Greek and Roman gods, just don’t recognise the name Loki.”
“Thank you. I’ve been trying to figure out where this is. Yes, I’m new here. Is it that obvious?”
“It’s not Hogwarts, but it’s not too bad here. Do you know any good places to eat, and do you know where the nearest bookstores are? I’m really hungry and really need books.”
Well, this certainly isn’t Riverdale but it’s not bad. At least my psychotic mother isn’t here.
Anyway, formal introduction. I’m Cheryl Blossom.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Alecto Carrow. It’s New York, apparently. This place is very different from Wales.”
“That’s just between us—”
“I don’t have anyone to tell. Even if I did, I don’t like spreading rumours about people so your secret is safe with me.”
