This was inspired by that tweet from Jared Bush about hot chocolate with cheese.

The first morning after Casita was rebuilt, the member of the Madrigal Family woke up to a homely sweet smell.
It wasn’t a particularly chilly morning so the smell seemed a bit out of place, but it was unmistakable.
The smell of hot chocolate.
The inhabitants of Casita followed the sweetness, expecting to find the one who reigns in the dominion that is the Madrigal kitchen doing her magic, only to be surprised that Julieta was among them as well, with the traces of a good night of sleep still in her face and her arm around her husband’s shoulders.
When they entered the kitchen they were greeted by the matriarch of the family.
With that soft but firm tone characteristic of her, Alma Madrigal asked her family to sit in the table, where there were already cups and plates with bread for everyone of them.
The oldest of her triplets protested her gently, why haven’t she let her take charge of the food like always? Alma reassured her daughter.
“Remember when you were small? before you three got your gift, I used to make hot chocolate for you…” she said with a nostalgic look and then rested her hand on her daughter’s cheek “you deserve for someone else to serve you food every once in a while, mija”
With that, everyone sat around the table waiting for their turn as Abuela served the sweet drink.
At the bottom of each cup laid pieces of cheese, which got concealed as the hot chocolate was poured into them. Little cheese cubes also accompanied the bread on the plate.
Bruno’s plate had extra cheese cubes.
“For your little friends” his mamá told him before he could even ask, planting a kiss at the top of his head when she finished filling his cup to the brim.
Bruno held his cup with both hands, his gaze lost in the contents. Then he raised his eyes and looked at his family, chatting happily, laughing as they enjoyed their chocolate, he smiled as his sisters told stories of their childhood.
His eyes found his mother’s which had the hint of tears about to spill, she smiled tenderly at him. He wasn’t able to held his gaze for long, mesmerized and overwhelmed by the moment and by unsaid words spelled on his mamá’s face, he felt his eyes get wet as well.
His gaze felt on the hot chocolate again and with a big smile he took his first sip, welcoming a warmth he haven’t felt in ten years.
