Part III - Rebuilding the Zelda one-shot from Critical Role: Combat
Part 1 here. Part 2 here. Part 3 here.
A little illustration of an NPC from the Zelda-themed campaign I’m planning 🦅
His name is Reyli and he’s (quite obviously) a Rito; very sweet yet confident little guy who likes to pretend that he doesn’t have a soft and quiet side :)
I’m pretty new to drawing anthropomorphic characters; it’s been fun to learn so far!
You Should Check Out My Majora's Mask TTRPG
Hey, I made a Forged-in-the-Dark game called A Terrible Fate, and I think it's pretty cool.
The game uses a Mask mechanic that allows your characters to transform into different entities for every dungeon they travel through, granting them unique powers and weaknesses that allow them to fight some kind of burgeoning corruption in order to free the Spirits within.
The game also has themes of doom, grief and invisibility; it asks you to save a world that will never remember you, because you have to turn the clock back every three days. I think the whole concept is really neat.
You can download the game for free on Itch.io, and you can also get the links to online play-kits that hold information about your characters, your world, the NPCs whose lives you try to change, and the Masks that you'll pick up as you adventure.
A game about adventurers, doomed to anonymity, trying to save the world in three days.
Giving your TTRPG worlds a mysterious, storied history.
New dispatch of Jackalope Mail! In this issue, I take a look at the worldbuilding of Breath of the Wild to learn how to make a TTRPG world with a deep history that keeps players invested in learning about it!
putting this guy in my mouth and BITING. violently. I do not regret replacing Vaati with him, I only regret forgetting he existed. he is bbeg 2 in my campaign.
Working on a Zelda-themed tabletop campaign for some friends and turned Ainsel into a half-Zora for it
Hi! Forgive me because I’ve never used blogger before, but your Zelda TTRPG looks like a lot of fun and I’m certainly interested! But when I open the link it says access denied. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance! 😊
I took it down for a multitude of reasons, but I am trying to piece together and flesh out the rules used on the Critical Role Zelda one-shot. You can follow along here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ZeldaTabletop/comments/1m3wav0/part_ii_rebuilding_the_zelda_oneshot_from/
Keep up the good work so far!
Honestly, notes like that help more than people realize. When the imposter syndrome creeps in, small things like this help keep me going.
Kokiri WIP
Coloring my version of the Kokiri champion from the BOTW concept art. This is for a fan project where I'm restoring and fleshing out the custom Zelda TTRPG rules Nintendo made for that Critical Role one-shot. Sharing art as motivation to actually finish it.
Dice and Resolution Mechanics Most rolls use 2d6 + a modifier. Outcomes follow standard PbtA structure: 6 or lower: Failure. 7–9: Mixed suc
I watched the Zelda one-shot and wrote down as best as I could the mechanics of the system. I added some additional thoughts and info as comments so feel free to add your own. I don't know who this might help, but yeah...
Hey, would anyone be interested if I fleshed out the rules from the Critical Role Zelda one-shot? I've been thinking about expanding it, filling in the gaps, maybe even commissioning an artist to make it look great. I shared it on the Zelda TTRPG subreddit, but no one seemed interested. Just curious if there's more interest here on Tumblr?
I've been doing some visual explorations to get myself hyped about fleshing out the CR Zelda one-shot system. No promises yet, but the spark is there, just need to see where it leads.

I haven't used Illustrator in a while, so I decided to make something mario related as a warmup and also to try different art styles for the ttrpg. Which style do you prefer?
Big fan of the super simple style on the right, unless it’s meant to be full page art then simple styles usually feel like they mesh better next to all the rules text
Im inclining more on doing it as a google sites. It wont be a pretty layout, but its easier to edit than a PDF. Plus, I would be able to add more content without having to worry about break the layout. As for the art, I agree that the simple one looks better. I could always just use the 3d renders of the games and save myself the trouble and focus just on the rules.
