Oh hey Tumblr, I just remembered you were here. Just occurred to me that this might be a good format for the comics I’ve been making for Hero Props, so I thought I’d share the genesis.

I’ve been thinking about this show a lot lately as I set up my new studio. The first musical I propped at @publictheaterny was Radiant Baby, a show about the life of Keith Haring. In addition to replicating a bunch of his art (which we sadly had to destroy afterwards) I got to build those giant rolling shelves you can see in the background and dress the hell out of them, based on photos from his actual studio. I could not have discovered this book at a better time, the week I’m setting up my studio. Beyond it’s educational value, it’s validating as all get out. It’s bizarre when you encounter a brain that’s an analogue of your own. Pretty sure there’s an alternate universe where we swapped and Adam stuck with theater in New York and I went into film and TV in California. Kevin Kline defeathering and butchering a chicken. Like he does. This was reference video we shot for the Public Theater's production of Mother Courage. But really it was about the fact that Kevin REALLY wanted to butcher a chicken.

Long lasting Energizers indeed! I found these batteries inside an old Kodak camera flash, where they had probably been since the 50's or 60's. Unbelievably, they still held a charge.
