@het-and-tom
It’s about the Vindication and the Power Fantasy
me, a fool, realising ten years late that Tom’s relationship with Anna is meant to be a parallel of Hester’s with Shrike, especially with how they are both able to reach through to and illuminate Anna and Shrike’s suppressed memories and human instinct:
*watches a few mortal engines vids on youtube*
every recommended video after:
“this movie FAILED”
“why mortal engines lost a billion dollars”
“box office disaster????”
why is every character with a facial scar introduced like: they suffered a horrible accident years ago,,,,,they’re horribly disfigured now….a shame
and then the scar is just:
*glares in hester shaw*
ANNA FANG: “I made all my friends promise that when I die, my ashes will be scattered to the winds, and I never be owned again.”
Me, who has read the rest of the Mortal Engines Quartet:
Tom Natsworthy, faced with what could be certain death, about to overthrow his home country, ready to fight with these binches he just met: oh fuck, is that Gucci?
Seriously though, did someone own that jacket? I think that was someone else’s jacket Tom. You stole a jacket.
Okay a question
In the books, Katherine has long, dark hair, and we know Valentine scooped her up from some American islands (at least I hope I'm remembering that bit right). It's stated multiple times about how everyone knows if not for who her dad was, she would never be considered a "high London lady," and at least in the movies it's made obvious that those on the top tier are majority white.
Given this info, is it safe to assume that Katherine is a poc? Perhaps Latina? Caribbean?
in the entire history of fiction, nothing has ever been funnier than Phillip Reeve naming a town Tunbridge Wheels. like what a flipping guy.
literally every person on the other end of the conversation any time tom says “but that’s not fair!”
mortal engines but every time tom gets hurt it gets faster
i think i screamed when, in predator’s gold, it was just like
“hester smiled at the knowledge of tom’s child inside her”
like sHIT man given the timeline they had to have had reunion sex after they escaped rogue’s roost
they literally had sex in the jenny haniver i just
this is a kid’s book lolol
still cant draw kisses but i gotta try for their sakes!!!
I still can't believe someone tried to argue with me once that Hester isn't disabled. She's missing a fucking EYE. And her nose, which has to cause breathing problems. She also canonically has a speech impediment from her messed up mouth.
HJSDSHDA HOW can someone look at a woman missing a WHOLE, ENTIRE EYE and be like ‘hmm. disability? i don’t know her’ like ya gotta be kidding me. she’s disabled, harold.
Arkangel, Mortal Engines // Amir Zand
when youre tired of sathya fawning over stalker!anna and making things difficult for hester and tom but then anna rips her arm off
Hester, my child, why didn't you just cut yourself some BANGS
my tiny human body isn’t big enough to hold all the love that’s inside me and that’s why i’m always crying
