@heterobutch
i keep telling myself i canât handle longer projects but in the last four days i wrote 23,377 words just totally by the seat of my pants
This is the Good Post of seat-of-your-pants inspiration, reblog so you too may add 23,377 words to your WIP without a single moment of hesitation or self-doubt
Bursts like this are like
[Image description: a gif from the 2018 movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In the gif, Miles Morales and Peter B. Parker are standing side by side; Miles says, âI canât do it on command.â and Peter repeats, âHe canât do it on command. End ID.]

i am sick of people conflating all makeup with 10hr long routines to make yourself look like an airbrushed instagram filter. some of us go outside in bright orange eyeshadow and no foundation. some makeup is not there to fulfil a patriarchal beauty standard as society at large views it as ugly and disgusting
when i say that talking to very offline gay people in real life is important what i mean is my workplace sponsored a seminar i attended today run by a local lgbtq+ advocacy organization and the speaker was an elderly gay man who mentioned how a lot of people his age are uncomfortable with the word âqueerâ because theyâve been hurt a lot by it but many younger folks identify with it so itâs always best to just ask someone how they feel about it before using it for them and i could only feel a profoundly tired sadness that this guy who understood the community through slightly dated terminology would get ripped apart for all that as if he doesnât have a more empathetic regard for other people than like 90% of the bitches on this site
iâve seen enough long-winded posts that boil down to âonly t//rfs say queer is a slur!â that iâve begun to think of this as a case of cognitive dissonance. when people who have never had the term weaponized against them hear âqueer is a slurâ, what they hear is âno one should use this word for any reason, ever.â what i find, though, is that most people who recognize the wordâs history as a slur arenât arguing that at all. peopleâs assertion that the word should be recognized for what it is - a potent weapon in the wrong hands - often comes from bad personal experiences with it and a simple desire not to be called that.
when i say that queer is a slur, what gets lost on folks likes these is âmy brother still regularly refers to me around friends as âmy sister whoâs a fuckin queerâ and i got tired of hearing that all the time, please donât call me thatâ and they get so angry that i suspect that even if they knew my background, they wouldnât care. theyâre too busy doing all this grandstanding against an argument that isnât really being made, but iâm not going to tell a couple of my students who donât feel like defining their sexuality in clearer terms that they canât call themselves that. when it comes to what people personally identify with, i really could not care less. what i generally hope for from people who donât get upset by the word is enough of an understanding to just shrug and accept that i donât like it for the same reasons i still flinch when i hear the word âretardâ, but the phrase âyour experiences are not universalâ is one which continues to confound those who only talk about lgbt+ issues online.
you guys canât let posts like these breach containment because all it teaches me is just how many people here donât know what a slur is or isnât
blorbo from my shows this. scrimblo from my games that. what about ocs, aka glunkus from my brains
not a qforce fan but i did watch it and i just saw someone on reddit say stat shouldve been ace and i genuinely felt myself age years but also was thrown back into 2017 discourse days this shit blows </3
really though can you please stop pretending stuff like ace discourse or panphobia or whatever is even remotely on the same level as violent transmisogyny? blocklists exist to warn people of actual, dangerous bigots and freaks. such as terfs and pedophiles and fascists and abusers. people whose actions get other people KILLED. do you understand me?
there are no campaigns to ban ace people from bathrooms or inspect their genitals. there are no cryptopanphobes who post dog whistles to acclimatize people to far panphobe ideals, which will lead to actual fucking murder.
do you understand me?
lgbt infighting is not the same as people who want us dead. lgbt infighting and discourse, debates on who is and isnt valid, is not the fucking same as terfs who actively seek to get rid of trans women. its not the same as white supremacists who think poc and muslims and jewish people should be shot. someone hating the pansexual label or thinking cishet aces arent lgbt is not the fucking same as a literal abuser being put on blast. TELL me you understand this.
i am begging you to stop treating aphobia or panphobia or whatever the fuck as though its even remotely similar to or as dangerous as transmisogyny, white supremacy or other unsavoury shit.
you are ENDANGERING actual vulnerable demographics by watering down the meanings of things. tell me you fucking understand that terf blocklists exist because terfs spread rhetoric that gets trans women killed. tell me you understand that white supremacists are put on blocklists because their posts either subtly or explicitly advocate for segregation or genocide or any other fucking mix of violent racism and hatred.
you can block whoever you want, and its encouraged, but please remember the difference between people you dont like and people who are actively dangerous.

Tfw when men do that thing where they pretend they have no control over their temper. LOL Itâs so funny like am I supposed to pretend that I donât know youâre completely self-aware and present during this rage performance. Or should I pretend youâre the tortured hero in a movie, possessed by a series of fabricated flashbacks of the war and your father
i think people need to realize that "queer has historically been used as a slur and many people are uncomfortable with it" AND "queer has been a major term for the community (used by the community) for decades and is a very important identifier for many" are two terms that should and do coexist
some ppl need to realise that sometimes your opinion on communities youre not in dont matter. like i once had someone irl come up to me with a big rant on how they thought he/him lesbians werent valid, and once they finished i just said "okay but you realise you're not a lesbian so i dont care right" and they looked so shocked like ??? youll never understand the experiences of lesbians so your opinion on my community is irrelevent whats not clicking?
"one thing i never understood was having blogs that spammed discourse tags with "uwu cute kitties and cake to save you from the discourse!! :3" like. if you don't want to engage in discourse that's fine, but there's people on both sides who do. you're accomplishing nothing by making these conversations harder to have."
it's so people who self-harm by reading discourse (reading hateful stuff about people like you, reading stuff that confirms all the bad things you think about yourself and more) get breaks or even only random pics and it has made people stop before
i get you tho, im always this close to blocking them so i can find the actual discourse
yeah that actually makes a lot of sense! it does just get really annoying when you're trying to go through the tags :(
Slur discourse would go so much faster if we all just agreed to not call people things they do not want to be called
