Back after too long a hiatus!

I find myself back here again, so much has happened to keep me away! Having now moved jobs, started a course at a local college and (finally!) unpacked the remaineders of moving boxes, I am back...to my 1 follower. Hello dear follower, so nice that you feel I'm interesting :). Difficult to know where to start now! Bruce has been away a lot on RAF detachments, meaning that I have been home alone a fair bit, concentrating on my studies and trying to earn a living at the same time. I have mastered the art of eating healthy (ish) and managed to drop a dress size, learnt how to shop the sales and pick up huge bargins (mother is beyond jealous!). Made new friends along the way also. It's refreshing to be in a new town, where no one gives a damn about your past, or even the colour of your jumper for that matter! I think I could get used to this moving around malarky! On that happy note, I have college work calling! May tomorrow's blessings be as humble as todays :)

Food for thought (also for eating)

Bruce has decided that he would quite like to learn how to cook proper food. I'm not just talking normal food, such as bung it in the oven and remember it 20mins later. I'm talking from scratch pasta, and homemade pies and soups. This is all well and good, as I do most of the cooking in our house, however... I don't know where to start. He already knows most of the basics, so would it be too harsh to leave him to his own devices with a set of kitchen scales and a cookbook? Most pictures in cookbooks lead you to believe that your finished product will look exactly like that, when in actual fact, until you have been cooking/baking for a while, they more often than not turn out like someone has run over it and reversed for good luck!

As I type this, he is currently finding his way around the cooker making our dinner for tonight. It smells fantastic! The lasagne that he made 2 nights ago was fantastic. I can pretty much promise myself that this is an illusion cast out by the fact that I criticise my own dishes more than anyone elses.

I would hope that, should he come and ask me for kitchen help, I would be a patient teacher. I would also hope that he will find his own way of doing things before he asks me, and then he would only need to ask me things he knows he won't learn on his own.

On that last hope, I am off to eat this delicious smelling treat. Wish me (and him) luck...

So it turns out that my ability to chat until the cows come home, go out, and come back again is actually quite a big aid in making friends. I always wanted to leave my hometown, but never actually thought it would happen. When it did, I suddenly felt out of my depth for the first time in a very long time. Then a lovely little social networking site helped me out. Not only has it given me more of an excuse to use my fiance's laptop, but it has given me a wedge to hold open a huge door to friendship opportunities. This weekend was spent at a party at another fellow WAG's house, with other fellow WAG's, browsing a well known party circuit catalogue, and drinking copious amounts of wine. I was sober, to make a good impression...and I was driving.

The next day and today was spent texting a lovely lovely girl, organising a trip to the local cinema for Wednesday night. It seems as if I am making a new life for myself, as well as forging a "not bad" career behind me at the same time. So things are looking pretty good in the ways of new house, new job, new start.

Is it OK for me to admit that I kind of like it?

There comes a time in every girls life, where the man in their lives questions the amount of products they own. Regardless of whether you use them or not, they will ask that ominous question. Having only moved 3 weeks ago, I still have boxes of stuff that I will probably never even look at again. I still haven't the heart to throw it out. My other half, on the other hand, has other ideas. " You have got to get those boxes emptied!" he has harped at me at least 3 times in as many days, " You seriously need all the products in this box...this box that you haven't even looked at since the day before it was in the back of the van...the box that you couldn't even remember having when it was being moved out of the van!". OK, so maybe I don't need the stuff that is in that particular storage item, and OK maybe it can be thrown out (except that moisturiser, I've been looking for that for about a week!).

Clothes are a different story altogether! When he turned to me yesterday after examining the mountain of clean laundry that was mostly mine, and asked if I might give some clothes to charity, I suddenly came over all cold and clammy. That's a bit like telling me I can't fit anymore shoes on my shoe rack! It's not that I have too many clothes, and it's not that I don't wear half of the items in my extensive wardrobe (I do have a work uniform to wear during weekdays), it is more that HE needs the space for his stupid amount (21 pairs of stupid amount) of jeans! I hadn't even realised a man could own that many pairs of jeans! (Except maybe David Beckham)

This has got me to the point, that when he next asks me if I "really need it?!", I will ask him if he "really needs?!" as much as he has. And yes, yes I do need this semi-blunt-scratch-my-eye-out-if-I-use-it eyeliner that I didn't know I still had until 5 seconds ago.

I love New York!!

In fact, I love it so much, having been there only the one time, I miss it like its my home town. Quite often, I get pangs of "homesickness" for the place. I miss the smell, the feel of being part of something even from just walking down the street, the food, the availability of it all. What happens when I can't sleep because...

...My other half sleeps with a desk fan blowing over the both of us, and the window wide open? I guess I only have to put up with it for one more weekend until I finish my old job in my old town, and then go back to my new house, in my new town. But until then, getting less than 6hour sleep is no fun when you have a 9hour shift to carry out the next day (especially when the days past have involved demanding complaining customers). The idea of being asleep right now, is so alluring it almost makes the act of getting comfortable seem boring. It's the cartoon idea of comfort, where the tiny chick is surrounded by all those cotton balls and bubble wrap. It can never actually be achieved in reality.

This saddens me somewhat in my quest for exhausting myself to the point of being able to sleep without the drone of my fiance's desk fan, and the quiet hum of the nearby main road pulsing through the open window. I know that I won't be truely comfortable, or in a deep enough slumber to satisfy my work induced exhaustion, and the process will be repeated until tomorrow night.

Tomorrow night. I shall have a kingsized bed to myself until the early hours. Tomorrow night. I shall be home again. Tomorrow night...
