I loved your take on absolute redrobin.
Is it okay if i ask you about your process, like did you make storyboard before going into the actual thing, and stuff like that?
hi thanks for enjoying! i’m gonna assume you mean the comics i’ve drawn bcos you mentioned storyboarding so ill just speak on that part for now. i’m going to use one particular comic as an example
i usually ’storyboard’ a comic in my brain while listening to music (kind of imagining an animatic). i’ll play the song a million times and imagine the concept i like, and then once ive really decided what i want it to be about i’ll start drawing. for this comic it was the first minute of Goodnight Socialite by The Brobecks LOL
i then go on to thumbnail sketches of the scenes. i think about how many pages it will have to be, then work on fitting all the imagery and dialogue into that size. i try lots of different layouts/rework dialogue/poses etc. i knew this one would be four pages so i had to work in that space.
sometimes i make a board of references/styles i want to keep in mind while drawing too
then i do the typical comics steps of sketching in a more refined way, then going over my sketch with lineart
lastly is coloring which takes forever and usually goes though several different iterations until i think it fits the tone of the piece best!
i read it over a billion times and then voila~ hopefully this answers what you were looking for 🤓
