British media seems to be - as usual- obsessed with One Direction's split and putting the boys against each other, creating nasty narratives. It's been over ten years and they have different lives, management and labels. They have no obligation to communicate every decision to each other. And we have no right to know every detail about their relationship.

I also think it's gotten to a point where we have to acknowledge the fact that the boys and their social circle are very protective of each other and most of the rumors we've heard over the years have been proven wrong. It was only recently, in 2025, that we even found out how exactly Zayn left the band! And it was nothing like it was portrayed back then.

One more thing: Believe, first and foremost, what the people actually involved in situations say first. Sources for tabloids can be industry insiders, sure, but also biased journalists, paparazzi, and jealous family members/friends.

Eleven years ago, on this day (November 15, 2014), One Direction arrived at a West London studio to record the Band Aid 30 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" along with other stars, including Robert Plant and Sinead O'Connor.

This day is important as it is widely speculated as the date Harry first brought up the "hiatus."

ZAYN DIDN'T COME BACK TO ONE DIRECTION!!

Sorry to break it to yall, but Zayn never left the company everybody is talking about, which is PPM Music. This company manages their music royalties, and Zayn never left.

Many years ago, the boys apparently made a deal, saying that all members have rights over every song that at least one of them wrote for the band. So Zayn gets royalties for every 1D song that Louis wrote, for example (even if he doesn't have credits).

Ok, so what changed about PPM? What's this:

Well, it's a change of address. Zayn must have become a permanent citizen of the United States, hence the change in details. He's not going back to the UK.

Wait, he really isn't back? No, he isn't. At least not for the business side of things. 1D Media is the "main" company for the band. The one they created to manage their earnings and copyright. It's been managed by their business manager, Alan McEvoy, and their lawyer, Lawrence Engel, for many years now, but currently owned by Harry, Louis, and Niall.

And yes, Niall's name changed. I have no idea why. Maybe he legally changed his name? Seems to be the case.

Ok. Ok. No panic! Never in a million years could I've seen this coming!! But it seems legit, and it explains why we've seen Louis and Zayn together in different states.

This low-key reminds me of the content they used to make for fans back in the day, and I think the timing is really good. I bet Zayn is also releasing something next year!

Liam wanted, more than everything, to be heard. He tried for years. He wanted to be at the stage, under the lights. It was his greatest dream. Then he got it, and for five years, he was part of one of the biggest movements of pop culture.

One Direction was gigantic, and everything was fast-paced, with never enough time to take things in and grow. Eventually, it was too much. The decision to take a break was a big blow on their pride and business, but it seemed necessary. The only way to breathe.

For Liam, it was particularly hard. The always controlled and planned lifestyle gave him protection. Now, on his own, he had to make his own rules, figure it out his own limits and wishes. He tried, but in the end, he couldn't quite do it. There was a lot about him that we don't know, things we'll probably never know. But he was a loved friend and a loving father. And we know he left his mark in music and will always be heard through everything he wrote.

Out of all One Direction members, Zayn and Liam arguably had the most complex relationship. They fought and loved hard, always passionate, but perhaps not honest enough. I've always felt the song "Long Way Down" to be the perfect one to describe their dynamic, especially these lyrics:

I try to forgive you But I struggle 'cause I don't know how

And I also think a lot about "Stardust", a song that Zayn didn't write about Liam but has dedicated to him since his death (Zayn is yet to perform "Stardust" at a concert).
