one thing i love about intentional hunger is the self-control involved in knowing you're hungry, being able to do something about the hunger, and choosing not to do it anyways. sure, you could eat now, but... you don't want to yet.

the idea of someone sitting there, casually listening to their stomach growl while they do other things. casually feeling their stomach growl. there's this agitated ache in their stomach, the distinct absence of something necessary. the emptiness builds until it twists into a groan, so they stop to groan with it with a hand on their panging middle. and then, once it’s over, they go back to what they were doing, with no intent to eat yet.
