“I’ll just open it.” She laughed and shook the box before placing it down, beginning to unwrap it.
“Good plan,” she grinned. Brooklyn watched her sister intently, hoping Vera liked her gift.
“I’m saying neither of us do, Brook. And it’s not like that’s a bad thing.”
“I wonder if James likes my butt....”
Violet chuckled a little. “So she’s a dragon now?”
“I’d believe it.”
“Because it’s about me?”
“That’s not really how it works.”
“The only thing I’m not telling you is what she made me promise I wouldn’t tell you. But, if you ask her, then I never told you. Also,” he continued, “It’s probably better if she tells you.”
“So what you’re saying is, you’re hiding things from me, for my sister?”
“The faults we see in others never seem as dreadful as those we see in ourselves.” — Raymond E. Feist
Vera grinned and looked between the presents and her sister, quickly kissing her cheek before she scrambled over to her presents, putting the cake next to everything. “Can I shake it or will it die if I shake it?”
Brooklyn looked at her horrified. “Do you really think I would put something that could die in a box with no holes?! No, nothing that can die. Shake away.”
“I don’t want kisses!” she squealed, laughing. “Brooke, please!”
“Fine, party pooper!” she pouted, crawling off of her younger sister. She gestured to the boxes. “Careful, the cake is on top.”
“Oh god no..” Vera started as Brooklyn got on her. She laughed, pushing her face away. “No, stop! I wanna open my presents.”
“Kisses first, presents later!” She grinned, trying to tickle Vera so she wouldn’t be able to push her.
Vera was half awake when Brooklyn burst into her room. “Shit! Oh my god, hi! Thanks! You scared me.”
“Did I? Good,” Brooke grinned proudly, placing the boxes on Vera’s desk. “So this is your present and this is your cake,” she said, pointing to them. “But first-” she lied down on top of the girl, planting kisses all over her face.
