My Strangeness is Coming Out
The Vette is an iconic automobile with a long history. The 80s Vettes were considered to be the worst of the lot, but there is just something about those early 80s body styles that I love. Clean lines, nice stance. The powertrain was rubbish, and it was heavy, and it didn’t handle or ride well, and the interior wasn’t good either. But they just have that certain look. Sleeker than the later generation brick wedges, it had more curves, and it communicated a history of racing and styling that harkened back to its heyday. And for that, I would own one.

Integrale!
A friend and fellow car enthusiast dropped by the other day. As we were having cocktails, the discussion turned to what sort of car I would buy next. As a joke, he mentioned the Lancia Delta Integrale. I searched the net and found two available here in the states! Very cool car.

Dare to Be Different
That could have been my life motto. I’ve always been the contrarian. Always seeking out the road less traveled. Always zigging when everyone else is zagging. I can’t help it. I don’t know where it came from. I have always been different. Which is why I love the classic early 70’s 240Z. At the time, it was groundbreakingly different. The Japanese 911 killer. The BMW 2002 didn’t come close. Petrolicious features this beautiful and loud 1970 240Z.
  Magic.

That One Car
When I was a kid, I would see pictures of these cars. I always thought they were cool, but never knew much about them. The memories of these cars resided in the cobwebbed area in the back folds of my mind until I came across this video. The 510 Bluebird. Very cool.

Find your Inner "Truck Guy"
Chevy’s new truck ads are hilarious. My buddy RG forwarded me Jalopnik’s little review in an email. Essentially, an agency most likely started out on a fact-finding mission to figure out what made someone a “Truck Guy,” and somewhere along the way decided they needed to create a campaign that made ridiculous and exaggerated claims that don’t have anything to do with towing capacity, reliability, horsepower, or comfort.
It just makes you cooler, and that’s enough.

Why Social Media Can Be Profound
You can sift through endless articles about the power of social media, but nothing really prepares you for that time when something uncomfortable and potentially disastrous happens for a corporation, and the public responds in an honest and touching way. A loss becomes a win. There is nothing quite like that emotion.
Congratulations Mr. Wilde. You are now known as Chevy Guy. You are human, and so are we. That’s why GM and Chevy are owning it, and that’s why I proudly support you.
I can’t imagine being in your situation. Most of us would probably not have performed as well as you. I read about the gaffe before I watched the video. Honestly I thought it went better than what the media made it out to be.
Mountains out of molehills.
Well, the public made continents out of mountains, with an outpouring of kindness, understanding, humor and support. And that’s why social media is so powerful. Because we are social media. We are the voice. We are the media company. We can be heard in an instant. Now that’s the power of #TechnologyandStuff.
I’ll see you at the Super Bowl dude. Keep being awesome.

This isn't your Dad's Chevy dealer
I dropped in to see my buddy over at a Chevy dealer recently. Guess what? The automotive dealership has changed. The internet and social media have disrupted the good old boy, business-as-usual, $10,000 gross profit-per-car dealer model of the 90s. I say good riddance. They don’t have characters like this anymore:
Oh sure, you might still encounter one of these dudes, but it’s funny now, since most car buyers on the lot regard them with bemusement, and show them the same curiosity as they would a pickled cobra stuck in a jar of Vietnamese liquor. These are dinosaurs from a bygone era. Many places don’t have guys like this on their lot.
In fact, a good number of sales staff have no formal sales background. There is a reason for that. They don’t have to unlearn all that was wrong with sales in the 80s and 90s. They are more honest, more transparent, and more willing to just be themselves. They don’t play games. They don’t get up to go “talk to the manager.” Unless they actually, you know, have to talk to the manager. They help you get what you want. It’s refreshing, and it’s lifted the cloud of fear and animosity that once hung over dealerships like Los Angeles smog.
So the next time you are in the market for a car, give Duane a shout. He’ll help you with whatever your needs are. You’ll talk, look at some cars, hot-lap a Bolt just for kicks, and have a little fun. No pressure, no games. And that makes it better for everyone.

The Camaro SS 1LE Will Make You Weep For The Way You Looked At Life
As skeptical as skeptics can be, a Brooklynite overcomes his cantankerous preconceived notions about American iron and drives a Camaro SS 1LE, and it changes his life. Another great Jalopnik post about the Camaro!
By the way, if you want to test drive one, just get in touch with me.
