how are you not stressed from all the jobs you have?

“i dunno, i just don’t think they’re stressful? i’ll usually have indy, keiran, or dom to hang out with at the diner, and even if i don’t work with any of them, i’ll usually see fawn or eva stop by. if it’s a museum day, i get to look at cool shit with finn. then i get to go home to jace and the dogs. it’s like getting paid to hang out with my friends.”

With his back still turned he added, “And you’re telling me Jace doesn’t have a mayonnaise kink?” Solomon turned back to to the jar with a wrinkled nose and a spoon buried in each of his fists, but instaed of handing one to Roslan he dove into the mayonnaise with both hands. Some of the glop found his fingers, and his nose wrinkled even more, but he met Roslan’s eyes with a grin. “All righty, come to Papa. Can you, like, lay your head on the table? So I can lather up?”

“We haven’t talked about it but I don’t think he does,” Roslan answered faintly, listening to the clatter of silverware. His confidence grew a little when Solomon raised two spoons. Then his confidence immediately deflated when Solomon then raised the same spoons, this time absolutely dripping with mayonnaise. “Lay my head? Like-- What, like this?” Gingerly, he took a seat at the table and lowered his head onto the cool wood, wondering if this was how people felt back when pillories were still a thing. Or beheadings. “Okay, okay, just do it quickly.”

Alarm broke out over Roslan’s face before Hopscotch gave a telltale yip of joy instead of pain. “Sawyer?” The alarm eased into simple confusion once he saw who had come over, then into a grin. “I had no idea you had a dog! Holy shit, he has so much hair. What’s his name?” Hopscotch visibly dwarfed the other dog in size, but he seemed more than happy to be rolled around.

She was always buzzing after a new Marvel release. She didn’t care that she was nearing middle age. They made her absolutely happy and giddy. It was nice to have something to continually look forward to and Marvel releases were always something one could count on. 

Roslan’s nod was emphatic. “I would paint my face like a Skrull just so Brie Larson could kick my ass,” he sighed into his hot chocolate. “I like your list. Iron Man’s in mine ‘cause I like to get nostalgic about it, and, like, the symbolism of a metal heart is metal as fuck.” He raised an eyebrow at Zelda, proposing next, “But whose powers do you think would be the coolest to have? Not the strongest, okay, the coolest.”

“grace reminds me simultaneously of every single girl that i’ve ever had a crush on and was simultaneously very aware of how far they were out of my league, the sound of clinking glasses, and ladders--but the sturdy kind, not the ones you’re always afraid of falling off of. solomon makes me think of the kind of laughter that makes you double over and squeeze your eyes shut. also sunflowers and, more recently, absolute betrayal. cara’s, like, fucking sunshine squeezed into a single person, and then an entire field of flowers. but i also think of those “caution: wet floor” signs.”
