thing that upsets me about the girlbossification of katherine plumber is that she is so SCARED. she's living in fear every day that her father will ruin her career. she's scared she wont follow through on her promise to the newsies. honestly she doesn't think the newsies will win but she wants to help them anyways and that ALONE scares her because how scary is it to hope honestly? but she keeps trying and trying and trying because it HAS to work. she's so so scared but it HAS to work, there can be no 'what if it doesnt work' because it HAS TO. she is not a girlboss she is just as much a scared kid as everyone else in the show but she keeps trying anyways because she knows things have to change. that's not girlbossery that's her being the Patron Saint of Lost Causes.

To celebrate editors in the fandom, the HBO War Video Archive is doing a spotlight series to learn a little bit about the people who make all of our favorite videos!
Today's spotlight (#28) is on @pfckaves! She has been making videos for HBO War and Generation Kill since November 2025. My favorite video of hers is "Sunday Bloody Sunday." It's such a great song choice, and even though the song is about a very different conflict, I think the video captures the general horror at needless violence. I especially love how the entire intro is D-Day, where the characters have no idea what's to come; it sets up the rest of the video really well!

š„ What made you want to start making fan videos?
I kept getting ideas for edits when listening to songs and I really wanted to put those visions together! My childhood friends and I made home movies all the time and I was the designated editor so I figured why not try my hand at editing shows?
š» What program do you use?
Nothing fancy, just CapCut!
š Where do you find inspiration for videos?
I listen to a lot of music, so, inspiration typically strikes when I hear a certain lyric that reminds me of a character. Sometimes itās also just the beat of a song that sounds like it would be fun to edit to!
āØļø Tell us a little bit about your process!
Usually (again) Iāll be listening to music and hear a part of a song that makes me think, "Ooh, this would work for an edit of [show].ā Iāll screen record the song ASAP so I donāt forget, and then once I have the time Iāll hunt for clips of what Iām editing and screen record those too. Once I have all my items, Iāll upload the footage into CapCut and extract the audio from the Spotify screen recording. From there Iāll use the add beats feature on CapCut so I can decide when to cut and such! From there it really depends, Iāll usually always add text or filters though!
šļø What's your favorite part of editing?
My favorite part of editing is when I have all my footage and music uploaded into CapCut and I can just edit within the program. Itās really the most creative part of the process, so as an artist, I enjoy that!
š¬ What video(s) are you proudest of (HBO War or otherwise)?
āSledgehammerā is definitely my top favorite! The song just worked so perfectly and I really like the clips I chose. I was very proud of the timing in āWe Die Youngā with all the explosionsm, and again song choice!!
šŖ« Do you have a video that got away? A great idea you never made? (Now's the time!)
Iāve been floating the idea of editing Eugene Roe with āFeel the Painā by Dinosaur Jr., I just havenāt gotten to it yet.
š±ļø What's something new you'd like to learn/try?
I would love to learn how to do good transitions! I usually just cut but Iād love to do transitions or velocity.
šØāš» Do you have any advice for other editors or someone who wants to try editing?
I would say donāt worry about having any fancy software or programs and just go for it. If you work on it and get feedback, you can make pretty good edits with just the basics, so donāt overcomplicate it!

@hillybillyshelmet's "Iāll Make a Man Out of You:" I think this is actually my favorite edit ever...The song and the characters just work so well!!
@hffrns's "Canāt C Me:" This is what I wish my edits looked like...Also I just love it because it gave me a new song to add to my playlist.
@resting-distressed-face's "All for Leyna:" Again, another song to add to my playlist! John and Lena are my favorite canon couple so them and Billy Joel is just perfection.
@june-saturday's "Marine Bepop:" I genuinely have no words just...How???

it tells me a lot that kay and connie are the most tridimensional and developed female characters in the godfather trilogy and yet the most hated. the arguments being...they're reckless (like the men) selfish (like the men) annoying (like the men) traitors (like the men).
of course, no one has to like them, but when the fans are overwhelming in love with apollonia (a sixteen year old who barely talked & had no apparent personality) but hate every woman who creates conflict with the men it makes me wonder. the men can create conflict with themselves, fredo can be stupid and reckless, michael can get him killed, sonny can be impulsive, bigoted and betray the thing vito valued the most (family) by being a cheater...and that's all fine because they're not supposed to be perfect, they're not even supposed to be good!
but the women in the story (that already don't serve them) have to be puppets to the men's schemes to be likable in any way? connie was supposed to be the perfect victim of abuse, rely on the brothers who would never let her participate in their business and live like her mother (only to attend, be nothing more than a mother and wife)? kay was supposed to be a trophy wife she never agreed to being because MICHAEL promised her something different and failed to give her? she was supposed to lay in bed all day in the cage michael made their home be, waiting for someone to get her and her children killed, or see her baby boy become a monster?
they were fighting to be something in a time, a context, an environment and a family that would not allow women to be more than mothers and wives. connie & kay, they could never make me hate you
