chanmi:
she knows haneul by default. an acquaintanceship that she never paid much attention to, as it was a result of a package deal signed under her engagement. they’ve never exchanged much, unlike her own friendship with the other’s younger sister. ahh, sweet ahreum, as innocent as ever.
yet, tonight she was forced to exchange cumbersome small talk. the venue was rather large, holding many important guests of various disciplines, many of whom left a sour taste in her buds. eyes narrowing as she settles in her seat, an immediate internal groan suppressed in her system guised as a soft sigh, as she sees the name plate on the table beside her. lee haneul. what a treat.
digits moving to the glass of wine before her, bringing it to her lips for sip, her gaze remains on her glass catching a glimpse of a silhouette beside her. “ahh… lee haneul-ssi.” placing the glass down, as her gaze finally moves to shift to him, “having fun?” she offers a faux perk of red tinted lips.
It takes Haneul a herculean amount of strength not to roll his eyes when he sees her. Words wouldn’t be enough to describe how much he despises the girl, not only for her personality itself ( or what he knows of her personality ) but also because of the ‘relationship’ she has with his boyfriend. Both things are enough to cause discomfort whenever she’s around.
He’s been avoiding Chanmi and Jaesung all night, as much as he swears he doesn't get affected by their acting, Haneul is still human and still feels jealousy when he sees the other two pretending to be a perfect couple. It disgusts him, fills him with anger and frustration, but he does his best to disguise it behind his usual, sweet smile. But he can’t stop the deep and disappointed sigh from escaping past his lips when he notices he’s sitting next to her during that night.
Couldn’t they have put him to sit next to Jaesung, at least? His best friend?
Haneul sighs again when she speaks to him, and he looks at her with a forced grin on his lips. “Geum Chanmi-ah,” he responds, voice soft and gentle when he speaks, doing his best to sound as friendly and as unaffected as possible. “I have to admit I’d rather be somewhere else, but this isn’t too bad. You look good, tonight.”
