I'm going to say something probably unpopular and boring.
I don't want, and I'm not looking forward to a second season of Dungeon meshi. Or rather, I don't want it to come out “NOW” or anytime soon.
And it's not even that I'm trembling with excitement at the thought of it and I'm afraid that my heart will stop because of love. No.
I just think that the second season should be legendary. It has to kill you mentally and heal you at the same time. It should be dynamic and stunning, like Mithrun fights. It should be magical and enchanting, like a sprawling, sky-covering Marcille's tree. It should be large-scale and breathtaking, like thousands of Laios and a three-headed monster. Can you imagine HOW MUCH effort and time it takes to bring this to life?
What about the soundtrack? My favorite thing in the entire Dungeon meshi adaptation is the incredibly beautiful music by Yasunori Mitsuda and Shunsuke Tsuchiya. I listen to it again and again. And I really want to enjoy their new thoughtful and atmospheric compositions in the second season.
I want to see and hear a work that's every bit as good as the first season, and ideally will surprise with new heights, given that the second half of the manga is more eventful and emotional.
That's why I'm ready to wait as long as it takes to finish the adaptation worthily and not overwhelm the creators in the process.
