Beckoned back to the ranch by her youngest brother just in time for Christmas, Beth reluctantly returns after four long years. In the midst of the festive spirit and the familiar comfort of Rip’s enduring presence, she’s confronted not only with the changes around her but also the haunting specters of her own past traumas. As she navigates The Ghosts of Christmas Present, Beth seeks solace amidst the echoes of her history, grappling with memories while striving to rediscover her place in a world that’s both changed and unyieldingly constant. Set four years prior to season one.
Can we get her back now? Please.
It's almost Beth Dutton time!
Please don't move, from where you are
Because I'm looking up and seeing stars
Hoping that you're somewhere doing the same
Remember that night when we gave them all a name
And this nostalgia of mine gets worse at night
It hurts so bad, because they shine so bright
They remind me of that hot night in June, when you snuck me away to your bedroom
And there we sat, Fleetwood Mac
Giving rhythm to a late night moon
Oh I'm begging you baby
Please don't move
“Beth is haunted by her past. She has a lot of regrets. And she has a lot of secrets that he doesn’t know. So there is something that is under the surface that will one day, I’m sure, come, and she’s probably certain that she will lose him. In this season, you feel that she is waking up in the night, constantly having bad dreams, constantly thinking about how she treated him, how she was with him, some of the decisions she made. And it’s almost like it’s coming home to roost, you know, and she can’t let it lie. She can not switch that part of herself off and I think she feels immense guilt. And more than that, she feels shame. There’s a tremendous sadness in that. A, for, you know, she’s not able to give him a child but also the history of what happened to her and Jamie and the decision that she made and the decision that he made on her behalf. He doesn’t know any of that, and she’s protecting him. So there’s a weighted burden in her heart that she can not share with him. So he’s trying to reassure her and love her but he doesn’t know the truth.”

“I am just absolutely blessed… And we, kind of pick each other up, we help each other, we walk into each other’s trailers, we talk. It’s just that kind of relationship- there’s such an honesty and a beauty. It’s very special.”
-Cole Hauser on co-star Kelly Reilly
