“Wear your crown of flowers
you deserve it for all the hard work you’ve accomplished.”
“You are beautiful, if people can’t see the light of you then they are the people who are blinded by their own beauty standards and goals. There is nothing as unique as you are, the one’s who are marked by their ancestors.”
Visual Prompt
This image represents the story of forbidden love, wealth, grief, tragic deaths
and violence.
Romeo and Juliet has always been one of my favorite Shakespeare's stories .I ask myself what
went through his mind when creating those tragic love stories. Every story he’s ever made was
eye catching to me and intrigued my interest. I believe the more you look into the film and its
setting it always represents something between the two lovebirds. For instance: When Romeo
saw the supposedly dead body of Juliet lying there in a bed full of bright candles surrounding
her still body, the angel statues looking down at Juliet with their sad expressionless faces. The
realization on Romeo’s face when he believed that Juliet was gone and his heart was filled with
grief and sadness. The scene projected a girl in a casket and a lover gone too soon. From my
point of view Romeo thinks his relationship is done on earth. Romeo believes Juliet left him and
will move on with her in the afterlife to be together forever.
When I look at the famous couple I feel a deep sense of happiness and sadness at the same
time knowing that they both were together at one point and died the next.
I think the image is trying to tell us that relationships can be a great thing but could also end with
tragedy. Sometimes family members might have disagreements. For example Juliet and
Romeo’s family never got along and you can imagine the disagreement of the affair. Romeo and
Juliet's relatives were the ones who drove them to their deaths.
The photo of them kissing passionately with the image of the virgin Mary in the background
really stood out to me. I like to think of it as a symbol of marriage and union. Normally people
would get married in churches and the statue of the virgin Mary would be at the front of the
church. My prediction is that the virgin Mary symbolizes Romeo and Juliet’s marriage. I also
noticed Mary holding an abundance of flowers in her hands and admiring Romeo and Juliet.
She seemed like she was about to give them flowers to congratulate them. The two birds flying
in the air under the vibrant sunset may represent them going off together as a warm and happy
couple. Juliet’s angel wings represent her alluring beauty while Romeo is like a new born flower
that blossomed in Juliet life.
The colours in the photo are intensely bright, It almost seems like a happy ending. A dream that
never made it to reality. Warm lighting: mix red and yellow and you get orange. Yellow holds
purity and light while red embolishes it and creates a bloodbath of destruction and defeat.
Orange is a mixture of both, bittersweet. The details are Romeo and Juliet’s illusions and
thoughts they manifested. A dream-like state, which they believed was a reality but turned into
sorrow and despair.
The overall message is they wanted something that could never happen, and knew the type of
people that surrounded them. They were like helpless worms surrounded by deadly vultures
pearing down on them with wild eyes. Not knowing when to attack. Romeo and Juliet died a
fatal death, they yearn for each other. Even in the afterlife.
“Memories are always at the back of your heads whether we remember them or forget them they are still there.”
“Ones we can’t remember are distorted.” “Memories can make or break us, depending on the past.” We live through them everyday and every hour that goes by we create new recollections.”
“Being alone is not necessarily a bad thing, some people depict loneliness to be a person who is depressed and can’t find joy in the moments. There are stages of being unattended:
Moments when you’re at home:
Late night walks;
Lost in your own thoughts or
imaginations:
At you’re favourite spot you like to stay:
The music you listen to:
Staring at your own reflection:
Having self reflection and
Many more;
(“Being by yourself is therapeutic and comes with many
benefits”)
“Letting go of the past that hurt you while being reborn into a new person allowing yourself to fly with wings that are not broken and brittle.” The suffocation of constantly thinking of old wounds cannot change anything.”
“Sitting at the back seat waiting for my arrival to see you.”
“A gust of wind blows my hair; the smell of fresh air fills my nostrils my heart pounds with the weight of fear. It no longer beats a familiar tune but pumps with anxiety of future events.” “As we depart the memories we created together are everlasting and will always be at the back of our minds.”
“You bloom like this flower”
“What joy I find in spending time in the field of flowers.”
“I’m the butterfly waiting for you to respond.”
