CHARACTER HISTORY ( spark notes )
Juliana was born into a family of overachievers, thus the young girl quickly found herself in her older sister's shadow and chasing after her own spotlight.
Her parents kept them in the same extracurriculars, often judging Juliana’s achievements not on her own skill but if she’d manage to check off the same milestones as her sister.
One thing her sister lacked was a way with words, something Jules perfected at a young age to be able to befriend and talk her way out of anything — the debate team brought that award winning smile to her face more than anything.
She found herself taking on a persona for school, one that quickly granted her some popularity among her peers.
She found a love in writing by the time she reached high school, the stories that flew off her pen providing her with a way to tune out her parents.
She keeps walls up to protect her image, the image her parents drilled into her as being one of the most important things in the world — especially with her sister’s legacy to live up to. Now the girl has trouble showing the side of herself that’s hidden behind her ego to anyone at all.
THE LIZZIE DIARIES
Childhood with Lizzie was usually a positive experience, especially from the view of Juliana's young eyes. She’d go over for dinners, sleepovers, and everything in between especially when she needed a break from her family and all the pressure they put on her shoulders.
The two went their separate ways in high school since going to two different ones, their social circles and busy lives sadly putting some distance between the two next door neighbors. Juliana didn’t blame Lizzie for it, but soon it was like the brunette didn’t exist at all in her friend’s eyes. They didn’t see much of each other again until they learned they’d be attending the same university, though even then Jules didn’t see the same girl who she’d sneak out of her house to find solace with — she barely recognized Lizzie at all.

“it’s weird, right? that blog disappears for days and then starts back on the typical antics.” she said before bringing her nearly full glass carefully to her lips. “are they just looking to get a reaction out of us or do they actually know something?” the writer in her was after the story, wanting the extra facts that would fill in the missing pieces, but more than that she wanted things to go back to normal. there had been a lot on her mind lately, from things with cedar to whoever was behind the blog in question — she couldn’t focus. “who knows.”
“i just don’t think you have it in you.” juliana began with a laugh as she spoke. honestly the outcome didn’t really matter, ultimately she was just glad for the distraction. the tone of today was different in the best way, the girl deciding to be focused on the present instead of the party. there wasn’t much of an audience around, but knowing brody told her that it wouldn’t have any effect on his decision. the dare was simple enough, but the teasing tone in her voice allowed her to let him know there was no pressure. “there’s no way you're going to jump in there naked. no way."
“first anonymous blog posts and now posters?” juliana questioned with a shake of her head. “i’m just getting really tired of this.” she continued while pulling her jacket on. “why say nothing for seven days to just start pointing fingers again?” the brunette would be the first to tell you she though all of this was over, but like a bad habit the blog had resurfaced. “i don’t know about you, but i’m in desperate need of some caffeine.” that and a walk away from newly decorated walls.
"tell me that you've been stargazing, and i mean away from the city." cal turns toward the body beside him. "it's one of the most beautiful things you could ever see. everyone should do it before we die," he cringes internally, a little bit, at his last choice of words.
“i haven’t actually.” she began with a shrug of her shoulders. “i’ve never really gotten the chance to.” his last words lingered in her head for a moment, reminding her again that it would only take a second to change everything she knew — there was still too much she had planned — lizzie probably did too. “what’s it like?” juliana questioned, cutting off her thoughts. “can you describe it for me?”
It wasn't uncommon for Junho to be the last student at carver hall. At night, he preferred to study away from the dorms so that he wouldn't be tempted to go to sleep or disrupt the others. Upon hearing some footsteps, the man glanced up from his laptop to the approaching figure. "Trouble sleeping?"
“am i that obvious?” her footsteps were soft, though she’d done a few laps uninterrupted before she heard his voice. juliana needed to clear her head and her dorm wasn’t letting that happen. notebook in hand the brunette contemplated working on her latest assignment, instead she kept walking. “what’s your excuse?”
Cedar turned towards the familiar voice, looking up from his textbook, coffee in hand. "Hmm?" He asked, blinking away the fuzziness in his head. "I'm alright." He said once he processed what Juliana had asked. That was a blatant lie, but it felt better than deep diving into all the crazy things that seemingly continue to happen in this life. "Oh, you know me that well, huh?" he asked, unable to stop himself from the genuine smile that began to creep across his face. "I am thinking too hard. There must be steam coming out of my ears, no?" He pretended to wave away the steam in the air. "I'm just deep into work." He said facetiously pointing to the books on the table. "Why, you got something you wanna talk about?" He pressed, knowing there definitely was things the two should be talking about, patting the chair beside him, motioning for her to sit down with him.
“maybe a little, maybe i just pay attention.” juliana teased playfully as she spoke. “your eyebrows get all furrowed when you’re concentrating.” honestly, she would of been surprised if there was nothing on his mind, there was way too much going on around campus for that. “the steam can be fixed.” she told him, laughing at his motion of waving it away. “i think you need a break.” she took a seat in the empty chair beside him, her eyes focusing on his as the question left his mouth. there was something they needed to talk about, but was now the right time to dive into all of that? “is there something you wanted to talk about?”
“hey — you doing alright?” right now that question was without a doubt a loaded one, but once it was on the tip of her tongue she couldn’t stop herself from asking. the pair had spent some time getting to know more of each other lately, by now he knew she couldn’t stop herself from asking what was on her mind. juliana’s thoughts often came in waves, most of which landing on a piece of paper in her notebook, but she didn’t feel the need to censor herself here with him. “there’s something going on in that head of yours, i can see the cogs turning.” she teased lightly, though how could she blame him with everything going on? “you’re thinking too hard.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“ and here i thought that stupid party was going to be the last time we’d have to hear lizzie’s name, ” annoyed huff slipping out of her with an eye roll that’s quick to follow. it’s no surprise that she hated lizzie. a hatred that runs so deep, she’s hardly batted an eyelash after hearing about what happened. actually, that’s not true, but brooke would rather be next than admit it to anyone. “ for the record, i’m sure there’s a lot more people that could’ve seen her the night. i mean, girl power and all that, but everyone knows she got around. maybe one of her play things got to her. ”
“doesn’t seem like lizzie’s style.” juliana said with a sigh before shaking her head. whoever the cause of all of this was certainly playing right from her handbook, but why? it was obvious there was some tension between lizzie and the woman in front of her, but she couldn’t put a finger on how she felt about all of this. elizabeth harrington was once one of the most important people in her life, though there was a lot of pieces to the puzzle she was missing — lizzie wasn’t the girl she knew when they were growing up, not at all, and the brunette was slowly putting more of the picture together. the soft spot she had for her departed friend still remained. “she knew how to get under someone’s skin, unfortunately that doesn’t help in making the suspect list any shorter. there’s too many possibilities.”
cash has his eyes on the prize while his legs do their due diligence in propelling him forward, making way in a timely - yet sophisticated manner. not an ounce impolite. as he rounds the edge, he sees another sitting in his favorite spot. "is this seat taken?" cash asks with curious eyes and arms full of books. "i swear, my intent is not to bother you." he is already placing books delicately on the stone bench that envelopes the fountain. the bag slung over his shoulder tumbles to the ground delicately. "this spot has the best view is all," he offers a smile with a meek shrugging of his shoulders.
juliana was doing her best to stay present in the moment, but her mind couldn't help but wander to the lizzie of it all. it wasn’t all bad, the melody of the birds helping to break up her thoughts. “oh — no, feel free to sit.” the brunette said removing her bag from the spot beside her to place it on the ground. “what makes this spot so special?”
