Pollock
Every artist has a personal way of expressing their views and their feelings in their art. Some start with one style and as time progresses veer towards a different and more personable style of their own. Which in turn captivates the audience because it's new. Others never get that opportunity to jump and create something that truly suits them. Jackson Pollock was one who jumped. I think that's where he was able to go from imagery abstract to just abstract and create what he saw and felt like as an artist. As mentioned he was a drunkard, a man full of anger and living a life of toxic love which I also feel plays a role in his work. His work expressed how he felt inside which is one way of understanding why the imagery stopped. He may have begun to lose imagery because he was in a way slowly losing himself and at some points finding himself as well because that's when his art truly took off. When you look at the drip work it's chaotic but still in the midst of the chaos, there's a coordination a rhythm, and balance to it all. His work changed because he changed he found what best illustrated his thoughts and his life.
My representation of my life. Abstract chaos yet exciting!

Paolo Veronese
I have chosen to describe the last piece I observed in the museum for which I have provided a picture. This piece was full of color and movement. Hues of green, blue, and red oil paint are used to make it pop which in turn compliments in every direction of the canvas painting. Definitely a use of lines were used to create a balance specified in the palm trees the jagged edges going in every which way really captivated a realness to the photo. Now many would think it would have some sort of lure to one part of the artwork however that isn't so the artist was able to grasp your attention in every area of the piece. From men hanging from trees, a mother and father taking care of a child, farm animals roaming, and what seems to be an angel hovering towards the left of them it creates the understanding of unity and variety. That description makes me wonder if this was a replica of Jesus in the manger. It also leads me to the thought that piety is being shown through the angels representing God protecting the family. Moving towards the details I notice the mother and child have more effort of realism in them. The mother's face has a roundness to it with light tan tones, almost looking quite young compared to the man next to her who lacks defined lines in his clothes and face. As for the child, the detail is very similar to the mother's with more defined lines. However, deeper in the background there's a landscape of pretty blue skies and mountains and towards the top of the photo a broken branch. This leads me to believe the Romantics style slightly creeps in although it's not represented as much. The artist may be noted that we have too much going on to notice the beauty of nature right in front of us.
Through the process of learning about art and artist I’ve learned every piece has a meaning, a story and a background message that correlates with the artists beliefs and motive behind the piece. Which leads me to how this piece plays a role in society. As stated before theres much to look at much to gather in the art realm of things it helps your visuals balance, contrasts and rhythm due to the flow of the piece and its colors. In normal society it helps emphasize looking at the whole picture in every direction theres something to see and internalize. Based off research The artist Paolo Veronese she’s seen as elegant or decorative storytelling. In this photo it definitely captures her style and the importance it has to society of adding something different to the styles usually seen in that type of work during her time and ours. I also used some of this reasoning to pick this photo because of the underlying creative energy used. Its colors as well help most definitely captivated me as well.
Writing & Looking
Fig. 7.5
Diego Rivera, Mural depicting DETROIT INDUSTRY
Diego Rivera, Mural Depicting Detroit Industry it has a focal point but in order to create that point, they used proportions and scale. Scale because each picture although in smaller or bigger boxes depending on the idea the author is trying to convey still seems validly important. The proportion used and making the factory the biggest picture but it makes sense because that's what the author has title dit showing a visual of the Detroit industry. Lines are everywhere using the directional forces tactics to draw our eyes in every picture in the center draws our eyes to the middle of the picture the lines even in the second picture in the middle the ways cause our eyes to follow. Different hues of dark and light colors give the picture depth and balance. For example, the bright orange and yellow colors brought together which seem to be deeper in the picture draw your eyes again to the center.
Connecting Art To My World
Color has affected me in many ways. My first thought was my sight. To see is wonderful but to see color is amazing not just in paintings. Imagine the sunsets or sunrises they create such a pretty picture without color I wouldn't be able to marvel at the hues and shades as much as I do. But most importantly color creates personality and character or a story. It helps me create and find my story. I've always loved art but a few years back I was able to use different types of tools to create art. Paints such as oil and watercolor though they have the same colors available the pigment and thickness of the paint alters how your colors come out. Either being very vibrant or very light. I was able to use color to express my story if I want to scream an idea or thought I’d use oil with dark bold colors but if I want to be gentle Id use water color with bright colors making sure the saturation was expressed to the full extent. I believe this in some cases shows my color scheme in life. I like light simple earth-tone colors but on occasions, it's necessary for there to be bold statement colors that have either a darker or lighter like navy blue or yellow and even auburn orange each hue there to create balance and unity in my life.
Art project
I used water color to create this piece . It’s important because i had to go outside my comfort zone to use this type of paint. Its a stepping stone of new growth for me and also this building is the Ringling Museum its a place that encourage my love for art even more.
Journaling
Unity and variety - complementary concerns lying at opposite ends of a spectrum.
In my personal understanding, they are when taking things that are very different from each other rather opposite and you create a work that causes that thing to come together to seem as if they were one yet undeniably different.
Applying that to the real world you often see that in organizations a group of people individuals drastically different yet still coming together to create a project or take on an assignment that in turn blends these talents and differences together.
Balance- achievement of equilibrium, in which acting influences are held in check by opposing forces.
To me, it seems as if balance is almost a synonym for unity its an agreement of sorts with each tool of art. No side is greater than the other.
Applying this to the real world you can see it in food such as diets too much or too little of something can cause harm. Same thing with relationships you need each person to give a little to balance the whole thing. In physics, we talk about equilibrium as well and how if the forces balance out it cancels out certain things causing equilibrium.
Emphasis and subordination - emphasis used to draw attention to an area. Subordination artists create neutral areas of lesser interest that keep us from being distracted.
To me, emphasis is having the highlight of the whole photo then subordination adds to that and makes everything in the background simple so it's easy for the eyes to move to what you want viewers to see.
A real-world application would be an outfit majority of the time I have a statement piece I want people to focus on like my cheetah print choose ill make everything els plain even my hair in a simple bun to the attention quickly draws to the shoes.
Directional forces- the goal of influencing the way we look at work of art through paths that encourage the eye to follow, providing actual or implied lines.
To me, it's a sidewalk for the picture its the area the artist specifically wants you to view sidewalks are the specific place the community wants you to walk is a plain paved way in areas you can openly see.
A real-world application may not only be the sidewalk but food signs they use specific colors and graphics, for instance, they are created with cool details so that in a situation your eyes go straight to it.
Repetition and rhythm - repetition regular recurrence and rhythm refers to any structure of dominant and subordinate elements in the sequence.
To me, these two are a song created with art you repeat a specific thing to create artwork over time.
A real-world application would be through stoplights its a regular reoccurrence but there's also a pattern in the colors.
Scale and proportion - scale is the size relation of one thing to another proportion is the size relationship of parts to a whole.
Honestly, scale and proportion are quite explanatory however both have to be balanced like before in order to create a functional art piece.
You can see scale and proportion everywhere like something simple as stop signs the hexagon can only be so big compared to the pole holding it up or it will look off. Or certain community signs have to be balanced on scale and proportion so that it doesn't look weirdly placed in the community.

Instagram is easily my favorite. It’s interactive because it has so many options some Im not even aware of. Such as reels it a section in the that app that allows you to record quick videos back to back you then can add texts and pictures with different colors and sizes. The intent for the site is to create a creative social space for any individual longing to interact with whomever they choose friends, family and even businesses. It definitely fulfilles it purpose.
This is me.....but the one thing that fascinates me about life is the opportunity to change and grow every day and simple put everything in my collage could change tomorrow and thats okay because growth and maturity are okay too!
Baggage
The question is “what baggage are you bringing along when you look at art” and the first thing that comes to mind is my previous experience in art. My whole high school career I drew many things and got to experiment with many types of art. Alongside that, I was able to experience different genres of art as well due to my classmates expressing how they feel and their personal pull to specific themes such as realistic, etc. I’m twenty years old. I am a female. I’m from Benton Harbor Michigan. My ethnicity is African American. For fun, I enjoy going to the gym with my friend. I am not part of an organized group. I work at a retail store. One thing that makes me uniquely me is I always willing to try new things even if it’s not part of my personal interest.

Hanging Art
This piece that hangs in my house was created in my junior year of high school. I created it using oil paint it’s my favorite type of paint due to the way you can layer the thick paint to create a more realistic piece. The use that it serves is to remind others that a stereotypical outward appearance of a person doesn’t capture the true depth and quality of that person. I think it is beautiful not only because of the soft peach ombre background and the brown tones used in the skin but the message behind it that despite what media portrays not all individuals are materialistic there's always more to the story.

#Flow
Flow
My first impression: The detailed carvings of the clothe drooping over Mary create a flow of feelings.
Michelangelo 1499 Pieta. Marble; 68.5” × 76.8”
Michelangelo was said to be only 24 when he finished Pietà
The Pieta is the only work Michelangelo signed
The piece was a commission work for the French Ambassador to the Holy See
Michelangelo used a single block of Carrara marble
Due to an attack on the art piece in 1972, it has been displayed behind bulletproof glass
My thoughts on the piece have not changed. Although, I do now feel that the dropping of the clothes covering Mary plays into almost a sadness. It seems to portray how she and a viewer may feel at the sight of the motionless Jesus. Something else I've noticed is the size difference as well. Jesus is still small compared to his mother. It causes me to think maybe this too is a picture of how a mother still sees her child as a baby despite the age.
