the entire show is essentially hannibal falling in love and feeling completely dominated and out of control over this love, which causes him to act violently trying to prove that he is in control, only to realize he is, in fact, not in control at all but completely shackled to that love, and only then he surrenders (literally too). so really the show is basically love-panic.
