Unexpected Encounter! [Closed]

Waver took a few seconds to react as he was staring without words at the tiny body he had just pulled against his. She was incredibly warm; so that was the way it felt grabbing somebody else, he supposed. He had never done it before, yet he didn’t find it unpleasant. In exchange, the boy could say he maybe liked it a bit. Yunoha didn’t seem to be uncomfortable with that, which made him feel really relieved. The last thing he would want would be to make his only and new friend feel bad for his stupid reaction to the crowd.

“Uh… Of course!” he answered quite nervous. Could somebody tell him why was he so loving nervous? He had never felt like that before, not even during the events of the Holy Grail War. It was like Waver wanted everything to be just fine, and the thought of messing it up scared him at least a little. “It will be fun, after all.”

The young boy looked at the line and nodded in agreement, heading onto it. He had to calm down. If he was relaxed, he would enjoy the day, and he was sure Yunoha would enjoy it as well. So, he looked all over the place, ignoring the comments, just thinking about having fun with such a fantastic girl.

That was the beginning of an unforgettable day for Waver Velvet!

It hadn't taken long for them to finally go up the line, the adult opening the little gate to allow them inside. Making herself comfortable on the bench, she nervously clutched onto Tama as she leaned over to look through the clear window that would give them the view as they ascended up. "A-Ah.." She shifted a little, leaning back against the seat. Yunoha wasn't very good with heights, but it wasn't that bad that it stopped her from enjoying the ride.

In fact, it was just nerves and excitement that made her shuffle about. Finally when the ferris wheel stopped, she couldn't help but sigh at the sight that was before her. "W-Wow, Waver-kun, look..! We can see the school from here."

She fumbled in taking out her phone, and near the window, she blinked when she spotted a little wheel. Grabbing it, she twirled it, watching with fascination as the window rolled down like one from a car. Now she could take pictures! Once she started, she stared down at her phone, smiling. The young girl would send these to her parents so they could see. Shifting back, she glanced over at Waver, cheeks red. "I'm having a fun time." She commented, while shyly glancing down to her lap. "Thank you for coming with me." It was her first time hanging out with a person, for that matter, so this made this trip special.

Damn, Waver thought when Yunoha’s cheeks went all red. Did he, by any chance, make her feel uneasy with his words? That’s the last thing he would want to do to her. She was so kind and seemed so delicate he didn’t want to hurt her, no way. When had he turned that paranoid? He couldn’t find an answer for that question. The boy shook his head in order to forget all that stupid worries and enjoy the day together with Yunoha. For some reason he couldn’t explain – or he didn’t want to do it, he wanted the time they spent with each other to be as perfect as possible. And so, he followed the girl, heading to the amusement park. 

“Yeah, so it seems…” Waver whispered, looking at the place. He had never visited an amusement park, so the environment was entirely new for him. There were lots of people walking around, visiting the different installations located all over the place. The more they walked, the more amazed the boy was. He was sure making a ridiculous, impressed face.

He almost shivered as Yunoha approached him a little; he guessed the crowd may have done her feel uneasy. Without thinking about it, Waver placed a hand in one of her shoulders, bringing her closer to him. Wait, wait, wait, what are you doing. That was the first thing the boy thought after he had just done it, but it couldn’t be helped. It was already done. Moron.

“Uhm… W-What do you think about the big wheel? The view must be amazing” Waver asked, with the true intention of making her forget what he had just done. His cheeks were burning so much it almost hurt.

The only thing that Yunoha had been able to do was blink stupidly as she was pulled gently by the arm around her shoulder. She could feel her body press against his, and she took in his scent and warmth. Usually, such intimate contact would of had the girl red in the face, stuttering, and possibly turning invisible all together - but that never happened, surprisingly enough. Instead, the young girl seemed to relax and snuggle closer into his side. Yunoha knew he had done it because of the uneasiness she had been feeling in being around such a large crowd for the first time. And she was thankful that he was watching out for her.

"Uwah..It is pretty big." She glanced over to peek up at Waver behind Tama. "C-Can we ride that one first? Please?" The view would be pretty awesome and she wanted to take pictures of it with her phone now that the chance was presented to her. She shuffled against Waver's side, eyes squinting.

"T-The line doesn't..look that l-large, so we can head over there." She hummed, before they soon resumed their original walking pace. Once they made it in line, there were a few quiet murmurs, giggles and comments being thrown about regarding Yunoha and Waver. Said girl either was unaware, or was ignoring them all together in favor in favor of staring up at the ride they would eventually get on, with eyes full of excitement.

“Y-Yeah!… Let’s go“ 

Waver shook his head (since he was somewhat distracted looking at Yunoha) and followed her, quite nervous. He wanted to make a good impression, even if he didn’t know exactly why. Something inside him told him he should look like a smart, intelligent boy…

Wait, Waver, have you ever looked smart. 

He had a look at Yunoha’s hands; they were extremely pretty and feminine. And — just a moment. Had she tried to grab his? Had she…? The boy felt how his cheeks turned bright red and even started to burn. But why would someone want to grab his hand, like a… couple? It must had been his imagination, so yeah. Calm down. Probably she was just stretching, or whatever. Nothing to do with him. But he had to admit — he wouldn’t have minded if they had grabbed hands… What was he exactly thinking about?

He was not sure if he couldn’t tell or he knew the answer so vividly he wanted to ignore it.

“T-This is..my first time going into town.”

Waver blinked. Was it? Well, same for him. He had been so damn concentrated in studying and getting good marks he hadn’t think about having some rest having a walk around the town. He did not have any friends in Tancho Academy, and walking alone was quite sad. Or so he thought. That’s why he was happy he could finally go there with someone — not just someone, it was Yunoha. The nice girl he had previously chatted with. He felt relieved.

“Yes, it is” he answered “To be honest, it’s my first time here as well. I didn’t expect it to look so… enjoyable.” he couldn’t help but smile when he saw Yunoha emitting those adorable giggles when the water splashed against her hand. Could someone tell him why was he looking at her like a dumb? Maybe because it was the first time he was hanging out with a girl. Yeah, it must be that.

“An amusement park…?” Waver repeated slowly “Really, it sounds like fun!” he answered afterwards. He had never been in an amusement park, and he would be lying if he said he was not extremely curious about it. The boy approached Yunoha, smiling “I would love to go with you!” oops, you boy.

Maybe love was not the word.

If it was possible, the redness in her cheeks turned even darker with color. It was impossible to not be flustered around Waver. He was so handsome and charming! This was probably the first guy shes ever interacted with outside school. God, she was really was acting like a highschool girl with a crush. Fingers brushing some bangs away from her face, she smiled up at the other, giving a small nod. "O-Okay.." Once the two were slowly walking down the street, she let her eyes roam around, taking in the sights and smells around her. "This place looks peaceful.." She murmured more to herself than to the other.

The sound of laughter and music up ahead caught her attention, a sound of awe escaping her lips. The entrance to the amusement park could be seen, along with the wide and colorful gates that lead inside. There were many stalls that were lined up together, some food, some games, and the huge rides in the distance. Yunoha fiddled with Tama, shifting to pull herself against Waver's side in a sign of unease.

She was never too good around crowds.

"This place is really big..!" She was glad that she had decided on bringing her wallet with her, so she could splurge on whatever she wanted. "Where d-do you want to go first?" Yunoha asked quietly.

As expected, making the choice of savoring the summer day, even as hot as it was. The bench was now occupied by two instead of one, the towering tree casting just enough shadow to shade the both of them from the unforgiving UV rays of the sun. Duke enjoyed the outdoors more than the average individual should, but he certainly did not want a harsh crimson burn to his fair skin when he would return indoors to greet his next class. For now, with the luxury of company at his side, this afternoon was looking brighter for the snow-haired man who knew all too well the days on end he could endure all alone.

Lonesome, perhaps? Hardly.

A slow glance to his right, the Environmental Science teacher found daintily busy hands adjusting the accessory the girl’s favored friend wore around its neck. If Tama was actually animate, he was certain that the frog would enjoy being kept so close and dear to Yunoha. The thought itself was, indeed, pleasant, and it soothed Duke. However, it seemed that he was the only restful one of the two while Yunoha was fiddling with the stuffed frog.

“I enjoy reading about wildlife,” the bystander explained, turning his head to face the meek girl. “This is a text I retrieved from my home that includes all of the animal and plant life I have familiarized myself with.” Basic life was considered to be your typical birds and rodents devoting their lives to the very delicate details: food, shelter and reproduction. Back in Terca Lumireis, there weren’t only the little “forest friends.” There were monsters everywhere, and they were the biggest concern of all. Without monsters at Tancho Academy to fight off and protect the campus to survive, even the sense of peace was somewhat unsettling. It was very, very different.

There was a few times where Yunoha did wonder how it would be if Tama was able to move and talk. It would of made things growing up a bit more better, but she supposed just having him like this was a blessing too.

Having a stuffed plushie being animated though, would freak anyone out. It would of been the same had her parents known about her parents. She was glad she hadn't told them.

Tilting her head upward, she gave a little blink, lips parted into a small 'o' shape. She then soon smiled, feet swinging back and forth, almost like a kid would do. Wildlife, huh. "I wish I could visit other places but my parents won't let me." Sighing, she rubbed her neck, shifting to shyly lean over to hopefully see some words. "D-Do you mind if I..look at it?" She spoke up, cheeks flushing red in a flustered motion.

If it was anything like the composed, expressionless man to actually express the relief he felt that he successfully reassured this girl, Duke would smile for her. However, there was no need for such a thing, several muscles in the face functioning to express happiness did not seem to function very well. Solely relying on his intense eyes proved to be of great use anyway. Right now, his burgundy orbs analyzed the bashful female until the magnitude of his stares softened in order to lighten the mood. After all, he didn’t want to frighten her any more than she already seemed to be. He nodded even while she remained hidden behind her plush companion. It never occurred to him that complimenting someone once in a while would impose on his chances to make a first impression; Duke was never a villainous person to begin with even as intimidating as he appeared to be or could have been. Give the lonesome guy some credit?

“Duke Pantarei,” the white-haired man finally offered his name, briefly shutting his eyelids and nodding his head once Yunoha had introduced herself formally. 

“It is a pleasure, Miss Yunoha… and Tama. Do forgive me for staring, for I was only seeking the source of that voice of yours.” Duke flipped over his book once more, the tan pages facing upward when the man decided to re-place the ribbon he used for a bookmark to nestle between the two pages, silently closing the book so he would not strain the book’s delicate spine. “Indeed, I am a teacher. I offer lessons on Environmental Science.” Blinking, he was surprised that she would even inquire about how he carried out his job at Tancho Academy. Then again, it was pretty obvious of him to be a teacher since he indeed did not wear a uniform according to the student dress code. From how he was seated on the bench, he noticed that he was directly in the middle of it, glancing down at it before he scooted to the left side, offering Yunoha a seat beside him. 

“Not at all,” he said, picking two or three flower petals that occupied the seat with his fingers so that the bench was properly cleaned for the young lady to sit.

Environmental science? I've never heard of that. She mused, while she nodded a few times in confirmation that she had listened. Making a small noise in the back of her throat, Yunoha shyly shuffled forward until she was promptly sitting besides the adult, while she positioned Tama to sit on her lap. The tips of her shoes would sometimes brush against the ground, eyes staring up at the clouded sky.

Wasn't she supposed to start conversation? That's what people did, right? She took a moment to glance over out of the corner of her eye, before quickly looking away. Sure, she wanted to talk, but Duke didn't seem like the type to really say much, if anything at all.

Just relaxing and enjoying the day outside like this was good for now.

During the silence, Yunoha was quick to fix the yellow scarf around her frog plushie's neck, while also cleaning her off any lint that might of possibly been stuck there. "W-..What book..are you reading..?" She quietly asked, while glancing over. She hadn't been able to really properly read the title on the book, and even if she leaned over, that would of been rude of her. "I really..haven't had time to read much lately." Sure it could be fun, but it wasn't anything a pastime of hers.

It could very well be a future thing. Perhaps humans become stronger as the years go by, adapting to their ever-changing environment, the conflicts that soccer has produced for them, now a little less of a significant threat and able to be combated. Humans are a force to be reckoned with, that’s for sure.

Baddap wasted no further time to prop the goal post back on its standing position. Next time he will resolve to not kick with so much force. 

“Call me whatever you want,” he replied, “I have no preference. To answer your question… I wouldn’t say that.”

… Chronologically speaking, his age is in the negatives.

"O-Okay, Bada-senpai!" She finally chirped out, a more relaxed smile easing onto her face. He said she could call him anything, right? Am I being too comfortable around him? Her eyes then glanced down to the soccer ball near her, which she eased over with her foot. Her face turned thoughtful as the ball was idly shuffled about. Yunoha wondered what her mother would say if she ever saw her playing with a ball when she had forbidden it ages ago.

"She can't..be mad..right?" Was her quiet murmur to herself, fingers prodding at her lips in a pondering motion. Her parents occasionally would ask how she was doing over phone, and since they weren't around they couldn't check up on her.

A little white lie wasn't bad, not in this situation.

Setting Tama down nearby, she went back to the soccer ball and picked it up, lips pursed. She wondered if she could still bounce it on her knees like before. "You've probably played soccer for a long time, r-right..? I'm envious." She started as she slowly started to pick up a rhythm of bouncing said ball between each knee. A few times, she would stumble and it would roll away, but Yunoha would pick it up, and do it again. Deciding to make it more difficult, the ball would disappear in mid-air and then re-appear, before it finally bounced away and over to Baddap.

"A-Ah..I'm not very good at soccer.." She smiled sheepishly at the other, her arms wrapping around Tama again. "I p-played when I was a kid.." Trailing off, she let out a sigh. "My mother didn't like it though, so she forbid it after that." What a pain.

Fascinating. Now, the frog had disappeared as well? Brows furrowing due to confusion of ultimate magnitude, Duke strained his eyes to focus completely on the very spot where the frog formally resided. Would it reappear? The man was familiar with a certain myth of paranormal entities existing in the world once a person departed from the world, however long or brief their lives were before an unfortunate incident to happen. There was more leading to extended periods of time in which the spirits would linger, for centuries or even more, and the mystery of their demise being the sole reason for their disturbed rest. However, nothing in the records or mere rumors have included a toy frog in the mix having the ability to become an unknown supernatural being. Right when Duke was about to further analyze the situation at hand to make absolute certain he was not losing his mind, someone spoke to him, his eyes darting to the very source, what he saw causing his face to show even the slightest of tension, something even rare of the man.

“…!” He was taken aback by what he was seeing with his own two eyes, a young girl much nearer to him that he expected clutching the very frog that disappeared in seconds. The bystander took a moment to gain what little composure he needed, the book he held in his lap being slowly turned over to hold the place. This was remarkable, truly remarkable, indeed.

“So, it was you…” Duke spoke with control, keeping all strain out of his voice even as mildly shocked as he was seeing a transparent girl slowly become solid right in front of him. This ability she had was rather useful and convenient, but what was the reason to hide in the first place? “… There is no reason to apologize, young lady. If you must wonder, it was actually a favorable change of pace on this quiet afternoon.” His burgundy eyes watched her with intense wonder but also concern as to how he could have intimidated her.

Yunoha hadn't been the least surprised that Duke had shown some signs of shock at her sudden appearance. Mostly everyone did that. Seeing someone turn invisible was far from normal in today's society. Yunoha had been expecting the worse; that she would be scolded by this firm looking man, but instead, he reassured her with his words, the grip on Tama loosening in relief.

Idly rocking on her feet, she blinked at Duke, shyly tugging her frog closer to her. "R-Really..?" It was impossible to stop the redness that seeped over her cheeks, or the way that she bashfully looked down. This was the first time in her life, she has ever been complimented on her singing, so it was a little hard to take in.

Plus, it was embarrassing!

"T-Thank you.." She finally spoke after she peeked up from over Tama's head. Now that she got a better look at Duke, he was really elegant looking. His hair was long and looked like snow, and his eyes shone brightly. "U-Uhm..My name is..Yunoha Thrul, it's nice t-to meet you.." She gave another bow, this time while introducing herself. "T-This is Tama." What was she supposed to do now?

"I-..I felt someone staring at me and.." It had made her uneasy, is what she wanted to continue to say, but she wasn't able to really speak those words. "S-So..I..came over..Uhm..A-Are you a..teacher here in Tancho?" He had probably arrived shortly after, since his face never registered in her mind. "Y-You wouldn't..mind if I..sit here with you? I-If that's okay."

A page or two in with Duke’s speed-run through his book, a delightful-sounding song somehow broke his concentration. Uncertain of the direction the voice guided his hearing, the snowy-haired man was forced to actually lift his eyes from the worn pages, making glances in every general direction. The tune resonated in a way of a young girl’s voice guiding it. Then, Duke pinpointed where precisely the location of the culprit that carried the song, mentally shocked when it followed a limp, bright green frog that was nestled underneath a nearby cherry tree. Odd, though, the plush was not properly seated in a way he found humanely possible, the bottom of the frog hovering one or two inches from the ground as if an actual person was seated there holding the toy themselves. Interesting. Very interesting.

“…….”

Instead of making the typical move of taking investigative action upon immediate attention, the crimson-eyes bystander did what he did best: staring from afar. 

For most, Duke’s gaze was found an chilling or even intimidating one without hardly noticing the intensity of his stare, but in other cases, people found a tall, quiet man intriguing… somehow for whatever reason that was. If he managed to catch the attention of whom or what ever else was vocalizing themselves in a way to reveal themselves, good for him. It would be one less curiosity to itch at him for the remainder of the day.

One thing that Yunoha didn't like was being stared at for too long. That was the reason why it was instincts that made her go invisible. In a way, she hoped that it would of helped, since nobody would have anything to stare at, but it seemed that didn't even help. Having Tama stay visible was probably her own fault.

The pretty song that Yunoha had been singing, slowly trailed off, fingers nervously clutching at her frog plushie. She was trying her best to ignore the stranger off afar who was staring right at her with such an intense gaze. I can't ignore it.. Letting out a little sound, her green companion who had been on her lap slowly vanished as well, and rolling up onto her feet, she began to pad over to Duke. Unfortunately for him, he would not be able to hear her as her feet didn't make much sound when she walked on the ground. After a minute of hesitating on what to say, she parted her lips. "Um..E-Excuse me.." She stuttered, voice a faint whisper.

And it was right then and there that Yunoha showed herself to the long haired male. Only somewhat transparent. "I-..I'm sorry if..I disturbed you..with m-my singing." She was nervous, but slowly, her body began to return to normal, until she wasn't see-through anymore. She gave a little awkward bow of apology, straightening back up to hold onto Tama again.

Baddap-san… huh.

She has a character that Baddap knew little of how to handle efficiently. Yunoha had a timidness that would be greatly frowned upon in Ogre Academy. Could he even call it an academy? To him it was more like a boot camp. Moving on.

If only she knew what the future of soccer looked like. Would Yunoha still want to play then? A war-torn society desperate enough to eliminate an entire sport just to avoid such a fate… His mind kept retreating to the same crossroads, for now he would brush them aside as best as he could.

“It isn’t a beginner’s sport,” he began, “but your efforts are admirable.”

No. She’s young. Such information will present itself in time. Already he has seen Endou’s face on campus. He would not doubt that a universal love for soccer will flood the schoolyard.

 “I-It’s no problem! I really did like that move you did before.”

“My… shoot?”

It wasn’t anything special, he thought. Powerful shoots were a norm back in his time and setting. That’s just it. His time and setting. Not her’s. Of course a powerful kick would be foreign to her. Truth be told, his frustrations empowered that shot. He should’ve been more cautious.

“Thank you, I… guess. … I took notice of that.”

Her transparency, of course. Upon being questioned of any powers, he simply fell silent. His strength wasn’t exactly anything out of the ordinary for him.

“I… can’t say that I do.”

What Baddap said had been disheartening to hear. She knew that she could never seriously play something as popular as soccer. Most would argue that she was either small, or too weak looking. That was the reason why her mother had banned her from playing when she was little. At least, now, she could play with it, even if it wasn't something that would be done regularly.

His answer had been a little vague to Yunoha, but she was pretty sure he had something akin to powers. She wouldn't question him any further though.

Fiddling with the scarf on Tama's neck, she shifted closer. Yunoha hadn't noticed the mark on his forehead before. It was very intricate and beautiful looking. Was it a tattoo of some sort? "A-Are you..a year older than me?" She asked, head tilting to the side. "Because if you are..I can call you Baddap-senpai." Ahh, that had been so embarrassing to say.

Friendship!?

Really, he was just waiting for the pain in his knees and the palms of his hands to subside before he got up and walked back to his dorm. There was really no reason for him to still be here, and no one was exactly jumping up to come and help him or anything. Not that he wanted them to of course. He was actually just about ready to get up and pick up his things to leave, when suddenly, a young girl ran towards him.

The first thing that struck him was her appearance – or rather, that hair of hers. The colors were similar to the ones he wore on his jacket, and her eyes were a bright blue, striking really. The next thing was her soft voice, asking him if he was alright, and then noticing his injuries. Wocky turned his hands and—so he was bleeding, the palms of his hands were scratched up. But here was this random stranger, suddenly worried for him?

He didn’t even get a chance to tell her no, to leave him alone, before she ran inside the building, and came back soon after with a first aid kid. He’d honestly considered getting up and leaving while she was gone but well, that would’ve been incredibly rude to the girl, and despite how Wocky acted, he was chivalrous and polite to women. Instead, he just continued to watch her as she tended to his wounds, not really telling to go on or to stop. He wasn’t sure what to say to her.

“U-Uh—“

He managed a stutter as he looked at her. This was awkward! After all, he didn’t even know her and here she was, being so nice. She didn’t know anything about him, or the things he’d tried to do, but it didn’t matter. In fact, it was kind of nice to be treated like this, so it brought a light smile to Wocky’s face.

“Thanks, uh…y’all don’ gotta do this but if y’all really want to, I can’t stop you, shawty.”

“Uh…I’m Wocky, what’s yer name?” 

He hardly noticed that odd sheen her skin was taking, thinking it to be a trick of the light.

"T-This might hurt a little, okay?" She warned, as she ripped one of the cleaning packets open. With gentleness, Yunoha began to dab at Wocky's skinned knees, making sure to get rid of any dirt that had been left there from his fall. She paused for a minute, unsure of how to respond.

"I..uhm..but..it looks like it really hurts!" She stammered, as she took out another packet to clean his other knee. "I don't like standing around when someone's in pain." Which was true; Even if they claimed to be a delinquent, a troublemaker, or someone that shouldn't be messed with, she would of done the same thing for them as she was with Wocky. Appearances didn't matter. It never had to her.

Once she was sure each knee was cleaned and disinfected, she took out some green band-aids, that had little designs of a frog on them. Those had been the only available ones in the infirmary. I'm pretty sure he would be embarrassed to be wearing these, but.. Once they were placed on each knee, she shyly reached over to grab onto his hand, turning his palm upward. "M-My name..is Yunoha Thrul." She peeked up from currently cleaning the blood off Wocky's hands, cheeks flushing red as their eyes locked.

She quickly averted her gaze, her powers making her a bit more transparent. Even when helping someone, it was still hard to not fall back into her habits. "I-It's nice to meet you.." She murmured. With his hands clean, and properly bandaged, she shifted a bit closer so she could reach his elbows, which were presented with the same care she had given the rest of his body. "T-There.." Closing the first aid kit, she got up onto her feet, walking over to throw away the used materials in the trashcan. When she came back, she bent over to pick up Tama, holding her to her chest, free hand clutching onto the first-aid kit.

"U-Um..I'm a freshman here in Tancho Academy. I was sitting over there in that patch of grass, sewing some clothes for Tama." She motioned to the large blanket folded out with her stuff on it. Her green frog plushie then made her debut, as she grabbed onto the hand to make her wave at Wocky.

There were many quiet moments at Tancho Academy, or rather, there were as of late. It seemed as though all the excitement had died down, and the school and the people within it had finally been given a chance to breathe. Not that it really mattered to him anyway – he’d stayed the hell away from everything happening. No interest, you know?

Wocky’s lack of interest really expanded to the school as a whole. There were few things he was excited for, his hiking club being one, though he had no idea why he’d started it, the boxing team, even though the captain was a huge bitch, and the soccer team. The idea of the soccer team brought a genuine smile to his face. The captain of that team was actually a pretty cool guy!

He’d been walking along, smiling to himself as he imagined being a forward on the team when suddenly, he heard a sharp sound that surprised him, and well, his untied shoelaces didn’t help the situation. He ended up tripping forward, dropping his bag and spilling all its contents, but also managed to skin his knees and elbows, though luckily, he hadn’t banged his face up.

Wocky growled in frustration, loud enough for people around him to hear as he moved to sit for a moment, trying to stop his head from rattling before he moved to pick up his things. Anyone that laughed at him received a glare in return, but he hadn’t even noticed the source of the sound that caused everything – a young girl sitting on a bench nearby.

Yunoha had been completely unaware of what she had done, as she had returned back to sewing on the first button on the piece of fabric, followed by the second. A growl though, a loud one, caused her to pause as she stared up ahead. A boy - One more older than her at that, was laying on the floor, his items strewn about. He was glaring at anyone who dared to say anything about it. Usually, the shy girl wasn't the type to really interfere with other people, but Yunoha was too much of a kind person to not act.

Setting her stuff aside, she got up onto her feet, fingers instinctively grabbing onto Tama, which she pressed to her chest. "U-Uhm..E-Excuse..me..? A-Are you.." She was about to ask if everything was alright, but the closer she got, it was pretty evident that he had gotten some scratches on the way down. "O-Oh! Y-Your hurt..and bleeding a little. I.."

What was she supposed to do? "I uhm..please wait here, okay?" There was a brief moment of hesitation, before she raced off, disappearing into the double doors that lead back inside the school. It didn't take her long to come back, a little out of breath as she held a first aid kit in one hand, Tama still held to her body. Sinking to her knees besides Wocky, she set her green frog plushie down as she fumbled to take out band-aids and a few packets to clean the wound.

"I-..I got some..disinfectant and I-.." A part of her wished she wasn't stuttering so much. She wanted nothing more than to hug Tama close to her, but she knew she had to do this. What if he refused? Or told her to leave him alone? "L-Let me clean it, o-okay..?" She awkwardly clutched onto the items in her hand, body giving a light shimmer of transparency in a sign of unease.

Purely militaristic by both nature and stance, Baddap remains unaffected by her show of timidness. A show of authoritarianism isn’t exactly the best course of action to take on a young girl like her— could he even control that? It’s hard to curb habits on the spot.

Wait a second, is she—

There isn’t any way that she’s a normal kid. Then again, who is normal here? His room mate’s a magician, what else is new. It could simply be his eyes playing tricks on him, but Baddap could swear on his right hand that her opaqueness just went away for a moment, the young girl becoming all but translucent. A hissatsu, perhaps? One in the making?

Who knows.

That’s all he could reason out for the time being.

“Don’t apologize for such a reason, I have no right to chastise you for that.” He was doing the same thing. 

Now he’s sure she’s becoming less and less solid. What a night. He’s already reached the point in his academic career where he would simply give up questioning the abnormal.

Her dribbling is improving— slowly but surely. He remains standing straight, maroon eyes observing her, despite the growing invisibility combined with the dim lighting which made her form difficult to see. The control over the ball was what he relied mostly on to judge her progress.

“Better,” he stated simply. Slowly, but surely… progress.

A moment of silence before Yunoha spoke. She spoke words he would never guess he’d hear in his lifetime.

“I just..I saw you playing and..it was really cool. I..remember watching it as a kid and..”

Cool…?

He exhibited sheer destructive force, and she thought it to be cool… What do you even say? What does one say in response.

“… Ah, er… T… thank you. I… guess.”

What a foreign feeling— complimented. Indirectly, but still.

“It’s… a pleasure. Baddap. Baddap Sleed.”

Baddap's words made Yunoha sigh in relief. Okay, so she had done a little better than before. It wasn't often that she met with someone as scary as him, but she supposed it wasn't right to judge him on a first meeting. She was sure he was nice, even through that expressionless face. "I-It's nice to meet you Baddap-san." She murmured softly, head tilted to the side. She wondered if he was older than her. He looked like it. If that was the case, he would be her senpai, right? Shes never had one before! "I've always wanted to try and find a sport to play in, sort of to pass the time and..soccer seemed like a good choice, but.." She was so tiny and weak. She'd be crushed by her opponents quickly.

A small timid smile stretched onto her lips, arms around Tama loosening up a little. She gave a small nod, shuffling on her feet again in a show of awkwardness. "I-It's no problem! I really did like that move you did before." By now, the transparency that was making her body fainter and fainter, disappeared, which made her return back to normal. A hand came up to rub at the back of her neck sheepishly.

"Ah..I'm not sure if you saw that, but.." Trailing off, with her foot, she rolled the soccer ball over to her. "Uhm..I have powers that make me turn invisible, along with..other things." She hadn't realized that until she had accidentally made her study desk in her room vanish a few days ago. With the ball still under her foot, it quickly vanished into thin air, Yunoha taking a step back. After a few minutes, said ball appeared back on the grass, safe and sound. "Y-You have..powers too, right?" Nobody could have that kind of strength and be a normal person.

Should he really leave so soon and with a mess left behind him? His back was turned, but now he about-faces towards the penalty area. The goal post haphazardly lying on the ground gave him a silent command: “Pick me up before someone notices”.

How unlike him to leave a mess behind.

The dim lighting did well to obscure the features whatever passers-by would come along. Baddap paid no mind to the partial shadows— only the faint pattering of a kicked-around soccer ball. A familiar, “friendly” sound, he thought, but made by what or whom? He quirks his brows and turns his head. There, on the field, a young person (male or female, he could not tell from this distance) is playing with his spoils of war. She struggles with it. Baddap frowns.

She has no sense of balance.

Well, he needs the ball back to put it away, but if it’s being used, he cannot simply snatch it away from her and call it a day, no. Well, there’s no rush to return back to his dorm. (His room mate is unsavory enough to merit a little delay in his own return.) Baddap approaches.

“Don’t be so wild with the ball,” he said out loud. “Move slowly, focus more on controlling the ball rather than covering distance.”

He has to wonder: was he in such a position to coach a stranger?

The sound of a firm voice, caused her to stumble on her feet, a startled squeak escaping her lips. Turning around, she was face to face with the male who had sent that soccer ball hurtling straight into the soccer goal with no ease. "I- I - Uhm.." Arms wrapped around Tama, and she ducked her head down, face turning a dark red from embarrassment. Wow, her first time playing with a soccer ball in years, and she was already being scolded.

Plus, Baddap was extremely intimidating, so that also didn't really help at all.

"I-...I'm sorry." If said soccer player took a closer look, he would see that her body was slowly shimmering into transparency, a habit that usually happened under certain situations. Shuffling towards the round item on the grass, she hesitated before slowly doing what was instructed of her, making sure to keep a nice and calm pace. After a while, she stopped, glancing over to hopefully get some sort of nod of approval. "Uhm..I..I'm sorry if I wasn't supposed to be in the field! I just.." Fiddling with Tama in her arms, she broke eye contact, her powers fluctuating more with her shyness, causing her body to get even more transparent.

"I just..I saw you playing and..it was really cool. I..remember watching it as a kid and.." For a minute, she buried her face into Tama. Great, just when she thought she was getting over her insecurities. Peeking over the frog plushie, Yunoha shyly fidgeted on her feet. "M-My name is Yunoha Thrul, it's..n-nice to meet you.."

Friendship!?

Petite fingers worked delicately at sewing dark fabric together, a small melody escaping the girls lips. A large blanket was spread out, and Yunoha was currently sitting on it, different assortments of items strewn about. One pile was different pieces of cloth, the other were strings and some button, and a small case of needles. On her lap, she had a small magazine which she would occasionally glance down to.

"Am I..doing this right..?" Eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as she lowered her arms to her lap. Since Yunoha hadn't really sewn in a while, she had decided to take some time from her homework and studies, to relax. It usually came in the form of making clothes for her plushie, Tama. The best place she could think to have peace and quiet was in the large garden Tancho Academy had. Not many people came here, so that worked in her favor. "Mm..I hope I'm doing this right.." Today, Yunoha was attempting to sew together a little dress for her friend. At the moment, half of the collar was finished, but to the shy girl, it didn't look right.

What was missing? Taking a closer look at the magazine, her face lit up. "Oh, a button!" Ah, that had been a silly mistake of her. Reaching over, she plucked one colorful button from the pile and slowly began to thread it into the material like it was shown. Working a little too fast, Yunoha let out a sound of pain as her finger was poked with the needle. Setting her work down, she popped the finger into her mouth, grimacing at the taste of her blood. I need to be more careful..Yes, you do Yunoha.

The soccer field brings to mind unfavorable memories for him.

Was he really right to accept an ages old fondness for a sport that’s caused a catastrophe in his age…? Soccer is indeed a fearsome sport; a love for it alone could empower an individual. There’s a limitless potential for what soccer could accomplish back home.

It’s a shame. Since coming to this school, Baddap has neglected to visit the soccer fields for practice. Come to think of it, was anyone even aware of a new member? A familiar name?

Hah. Familiar name. No one would remember him. They weren’t allowed to. 

A soccer ball is balanced on his foot. He felt a little bad for choosing now at this late hour to visit the soccer fields. To be fair, even now, he feels a bit reluctant on getting involved. Two hundred years in the past, when soccer was bit an innocent sport. Two hundred years ago, soccer brought home more joy than it did pain.

Baddap cannot easily shake off such a stigma— a stigma he’s inherited as a child of the future, a soldier bent on destroying the sport before it became cancerous.

His teammates didn’t get it. His commanding officers didn’t get it, either. Endou’s love for soccer did not create the war. Soccer didn’t spark the war. It’s as the saying goes: “Guns do not kill people. It is people who kill people.”

And yet… they did not understand.

“Kch.”

It frustrates him. More than anything, this sort of internal conflict, a battle of personal feelings and moral obligation… frustrates him!

The soccer ball fell from his foot, Baddap charging forward, the ball dribbling in front of him. He’s fast. Still as fast as ever, to a fault. From the center of the field, he makes a beeline for the barren goal post. 

Soccer brings out the feelings of their players. In Baddap’s case, he carries all his frustration and confusion in this medium-sized ball and in the force of his shoot. That’s quite a bit of both, judging by the sheer power he put behind his kicking leg.

There was enough power to knock the entire post onto its back with a heavy crash. This isn’t too uncommon where he came from. If he were to have let out his feelings through a hissatsu shoot…

His muscles relaxed. He drew in a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale.

It’s high time to head back to the dorm.

There was one sport which Yunoha had always been curious about. She often watched it as a kid with her father, and sometimes, he would even let her play. As she got older though, her mother said that soccer was never a sport for a lady. That she would get hurt, and that watching it would be enough. So not wanting to make her mother disapointed, she obeyed.

Now that she was in Tancho Academy, she was surprised to hear of a soccer team. Deciding she had nothing better to do, she slipped on some casual weekend clothes and bounced off towards the field just in time to watch a spectacular display. It wasn't often that Yunoha was amazed by people, but - this particular person, did. The way he handled that soccer ball and dribbled it down the course, had left her watching with bated breath, arms tightly secured around Tama. "Cool.." She breathed out. Wow, Baddap was really cool.

With a little bit of hesitation, Yunoha began to shuffle into the field, towards where the soccer goal had been kicked back by the sheer force. Bending down, she picked up the ball, wincing a little when her fingers came in contact with heat. "Hot.." How hard did that guy even shoot this thing so fast anyways? Was that even possible? Letting it drop to the floor, with one arm still secured around Tama, the young girl began to idly dribble said ball around with her feet. She tried to remember how the players did it in TV, and a few times, she almost stumbled over it, but luckiy enough had good balance to not fall over. She wouldn't get in trouble for playing around a little, would she?

➣ Շime and place

Day in and day out, serenity came and departed over and over without taking a moment to lift even a single finger, the accustomed circumstances of life molding a specific pattern in the mind that one could adapt to. However, the peace had its stay for far too long, and time was leaving the former war hero in the dust with countless days of remaining a bystander of the people. It was time for a change, in both pace and sound, where Duke would now take a roll as an instructor for youngsters that attended Tancho Academy, a breath-taking campus surrounded entirely by pink blossoms and trees, the usual hustle-and-bustle of students and other teachers coming and going having a soothing hum in this man’s ears. Wild hair of pure white nestled comfortably down the strong frame of his back, having no time that day to properly care for hair as long as his with striking crimson eyes that explored the campus while he casually walked inside the school.

A quick glance at everything, Duke could easily navigate himself throughout the building and now decided to spend time outdoors, somewhere he primarily felt comfortable with countless hours and even days of walking through the wilderness. It was a place he truly felt he belonged. 

“….” his eyes slowly followed occasional stray pink petals on the pavement, finding a bench thankfully nearby. Thankfully, Duke had brought a book along with him today, something he collected during his trip from home to Tancho Academy’s campus, instantly taking the opportunity to take a seat on that bench, sitting comfortably with his back erect against the firm wooden form. Soon, his acute eyes would find the pages of the now-opened book in his lap, burying himself in silence with the occasional chirping of birds and the soft wisp of wind conquering his hearing.

Yunoha really enjoyed the times that she could spend by herself. It gave her a good chance to really take in the scenery of Tancho and think on things. It was really beautiful. Besides a few mishaps that had occurred when she first arrived, this place was a good step for the shy girl to open up. She had already made two friends already! That was enough, right? A small quiet hum began to escape the girl's throat, a sort of pretty melody, arms wrapped around her green frog plushie.

There wasn't many people around, and this gave the girl the opportunity to do something she hadn't done in a long time, sing. Taking in a big breath, Yunoha released it before her voice began to resonate around the area with a song she had learned as a child. She wasn't loud, nor was she quiet, but it was just in-between that it would sound pleasant to anyone nearby. 

The odd thing though if anyone were to try and investigate as to where the voice was coming from, they would find nobody. It was like the voice was coming out of thin air - And that was true! Yunoha, with her powers, had turned herself invisible, and had comfortably curled up under a cherry blossom tree. This was the only way that she could really think to sing, and not have to worry about eyes staring at her.

While Yunoha might of been invisible, her green frog plushie, Tama, was not. And from the position in where it was sitting in her lap, it would of been strange to anyone to hear an inanimate object singing, right?
