does this mean you can stifle your death until priority gets passed?
There’s a light at the end of the Amonkhet story for me, and I can see it
This one gave me shivers. What a horrible fate for a plane that must have been beautiful once.
It can still be fixed! Always a way!
Tell that to innistrad and zendikar :/
Zendikar is already on the upswing.
Innistrad…is a different story.
I'm still in mourning

If you have a Wizards account, you probably just got an email newsletter previewing this punisher!
I understand why flavorfully it shouldn’t affect enchantments but counterbalance is a thing. And this would hose it so well. I’m tearing up thinking about getting this under a CB lock and then laughing maniacally.
Like counterbalance with a sensei’s top?
Yeah. As pointed out, counterbalance is triggered not activated so it wouldn’t have helped anyway
I mean @island-delver-go I think this is still an amazing burn card for legacy, the fact that you can froce people’s fetchlands to cost 3 life and each top activation shocks them means even if they activate top in response to a lava spike you are still getting 2 points for your trouble. also It entirely turns off jitte as being a reasonable card against burn that some people went too, and it turns deathrite shaman into a basically unactivatable creature.
I’m super psyched for the card. I just read it, thought counterbalance, reread it and cried a little.
Despite not being busto™, he’s my fire baby and I love him
Hate bears, now in delicious cherry flavor.
Good one of in the board for painter
Anybody else see or hear Grey Merchant of Asphodel mentioned and you just feel a warm sensation inside your chest, like when you recall better, simpler times? Like anybody else remember this card and find yourself just smiling?
I miss the days of Mono-Black Devotion…😥
Being able to play thoughtseize pack rat and desecration demon was when I was at the height of my power
Split Cards & CMC: Examples feat. Turn // Burn
In your hand:
In your hand, Turn // Burn has a converted mana cost of 5 (3+2). Previously, its CMC in your hand was 3 and 2, but not 5.
If you are targeted by Inquisition of Kozilek, your opponent now can’t choose Turn // Burn for you to discard because its CMC isn’t 3 or less.
In your graveyard:
In your graveyard, Turn // Burn has a converted mana cost of 5. Previously, its CMC in your graveyard was 3 and 2, but not 5.
Goblin Dark-Dwellers’ trigger can’t target a Turn // Burn in your graveyard because its CMC isn’t 3 or less.
In your library: In your library, Turn // Burn has a converted mana cost of 5. Previously, its CMC in your library was 3 and 2, but not 5.
If you reveal Turn // Burn for your Counterbalance trigger, Counterbalance’s trigger will counter the spell that triggered it if that spell’s CMC is 5. (e.g. Force of Will) It won’t counter a spell with CMC of 2 or 3 when Turn // Burn is revealed.
In exile:
In exile, Turn // Burn has a converted mana cost of 5. Previously, its CMC in exile was 3 and 2, but not 5.
If your opponent exiled Turn // Burn with their Thought Prison, Thought Prison will trigger when a player casts a spell with CMC 5, not CMC 2 or 3.
One half on the stack:
On the stack, Burn has a converted mana cost of 2. This is unchanged from the previous rules.
When you cast Burn, Chalice of the Void will trigger and counter the spell if there are two counters on Chalice of the Void because Burn’s CMC is 2.
Fused on the stack:
On the stack, a fused Turn // Burn has a converted mana cost of 5. This is unchanged from the previous rules.
Disdainful Stroke can target a fused Turn // Burn that’s on the stack because its mana cost is 4 or greater.
Is it safe to assume these same general rules would cover Aftermath? Or should we wait and see?
They apply to all split cards, which includes Aftermath cards.
I don't like this... Rip wear tear revealed to counterbalance

I’m the anon that asked if we could tag you with pox decklists. The list is black splashing green for abrupt decay, pernicious deed, and life from the loam and splashes white for two vindicates. It has the lock of contamination + ( Bitterblossom/Ophiomancer) and it’s primary wincons are tasigur, angler, and tombstalker. I tried deciding on one but they’ve all proved to be helpful for me so I can’t decide if i should keep all three do a 2:1 split or go all in on one. I havent found any particularly bad matchups with it and have a decently good win percentage with it but I often run the opponent out of resources then have trouble finding a way to close the game out.
@blogging-phelddagrif forgot to actually tag you in the post
i’d straight up cut white, its not worth the splash. also i’m not a big fan of the contamination+ophiomancer and would most likely cut them for more pernicious deed & maelstrom pulse. besides that it looks coo, i like it!l. personally I play the grindy version with discard, mishra’s factory & cursed scoll.
The biggest reason I like white is it gives me an answer to jace but I honestly forgot maelstrom pulse was a card so I’ll definitely replace it with them. I don’t know how I feel about cutting contamination ophiomancer though because contamination has straight up won me games before and ophiomancer makes for a good blocker on its own but I’ll toy around with it. Thanks for checking out the list!
thats more about preferences really, if you like the contamination combo then i might try to fit in a few more. like, cutting tombstalker & gurmag angler for 1 tasigur & 1 contamination, replace the 2 vindicate for 2 maelstrom pulse & replace 1 pernicious for another pulse. at least, thats my first thought.
Maybe, I’ve actually been thinking if cutting tasigur and putting a different creature in since him being legendary has been a problem before and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten value out of him, he just sounds so good in theory though..
he can be, but angler is just as good tbh
Yeah I'll probably cut him then, too much opportunity cost for him

Sorin had his defenses on Innistrad. He had no obligation to help Nahiri anymore and that's why he didn't go with her to check out the hedrons. I like Sorin too but to say he wasn't evil too is a huge bust.
Interesting theory.
Except we first meet Sorin on Zendikar.
Inspecting the hedron network.
Hence he knew his defenses weren’t enough and probably would have gone with Nahiri if she hadn’t blown up at him.
all she had to do was watch her attitude and he probably wouldve helped her

It’s true.

Will we ever see Werewolves are other plane's beside Innistrad? Not that I don't adore Innistrad, I do. I'm just hoping to see more support for the Werewolve tribe other than that one plane.
How would people feel about one-sided werewolves on non-Innistrad planes?
I think they would kind of stop being werewolves at that point and more or less just be anthropomorphic wolves. I mean, I think I speak for everyone when I say that when you hear the word “werewolf”, your first thought is “a person who turns into a wolf/creature with wolf like characteristics”.
If you were to do one sided werewolves it would be better to call them wolf men or something like that
