High Fives Foundation reaches $20,000 goal at Charity Golf Tournament

36 teams participated at Stowe Country Club to support injured mountain athletes

On Friday, August 12, the High Fives Foundation hosted their 4th Annual Vermont charity golf tournament on the fairways at Stowe Country Club in Stowe, VT. 36 Teams competed in drizzly rainy conditions, raising money for mountain athletes with serious injuries. Between registration fees, silent auctions and open donations, over $20,000 was raised for the Foundation. Four High Fives Athletes were in attendance at the welcoming ceremony for the golfers: Nick Fairall, Mike Shwarz, Max Elles, and Steve Wallace. The event was a success thanks to title sponsors GoPro, Vermont North Ski Shop, Kingsbury Companies and ski/snowboard app Snocru.

Fives Fish! 

High Fives brought six adaptive athletes to Dillon, Montana to experience fly-fishing with world-class guides. This was the first time fishing for everyone since their injuries and everyone caught fish but more importantly, all caught huge smiles. All participants in the Adaptive Fly Fish trip had to meet two requirements; be a Craig Hospital graduate and a High Fives Foundation athlete. These adaptive athletes all learned how to fly-fish from the expert guides of Access Unlimited, who believe in the mantra, Adventure, Purpose and Freedom.

High Fives 1st ever adaptive rock climbing event took place Saturday, July 16th, 2016 with 10 #HighFivesAthletes! The High Fives Foundation teamed up with the Tahoe Adaptive Competition Center and world class climber Mark Wellman of No Limits to teach 10 High Fives Athletes the joys of adaptive rock climbing. Birthday wishes go out to #HighFivesAthlete Nick Fairall! This guy has mono-skied for the first time, participated in a paralympic mono-ski race camp, visited the @crj_healingctr in Truckee 3 times, participated in an adaptive waterski camp, road a bike unassisted, learned how to drive with adaptive hand controls, and traveled to Bischofshofen to support his USA Nordic Jumping team, all in only 1 rotation around the sun.
