A Jewitch's Guide to Herbs & their Properties

A list of the more common and easily accessible herbs and their magical properties for witches and baby witches alike. Plant magic is an age-old art form that reaches its occult roots from way back to the Ancient Egyptian times. Herbs can be used for many purposes such as love and lust spells, and protection, each plant has its own different magical properties, and can be used to add power to any types of spells.

Acorn: Protection, wisdom, personal power. A dried acorn is a wonderful amulet for keeping youthful appearances.

Allspice: money, luck, healing, obtaining treasure. Provides added energy to any spell.

Almond: Wisdom, money, fruitfulness, prosperity. Provides magickal help for overcoming addiction.

Aloe: Protection & luck, place on the grave of a loved one to promote peaceful energies. Thought to relieve loneliness and helps with success.

Apple: Love, garden magic, immortality, friendship, healing. Use in rituals to honour gods and goddesses.

Ash: Sea spells & rituals, protection from drowning, general protection, luck.

Bamboo: Hex breaking, wishes, luck and protection. Carve a wish into bamboo and bury it in a secluded area.

Barley: Love, healing, protection. Scatter on the floor to keep evil at bay.

Basil: Love, exorcism, wealth, sympathy and protection. Dispels confusion, fears and weakness. Drives away hostile spirits.

Bay leaf: Protection, good fortune, success, purification, strength, healing and psychic powers. Write wishes on the leaves and then burn the leaves.

Buckwheat: Money, protection, and fasting. Use in charms and spells to obtain treasure, riches, and wealth.

Chamomile: Love, healing, and reducing stress. Add to a sachet or spell to increase the chances of its success. Sprinkle an infusion of chamomile around the house to remove hexes, curses and spells.

Cinnamon: Spirituality, success, healing, protection, power, love, luck, strength, and prosperity.

Clove: Exorcism, love, money, and protection.

Cumin: Fidelity, protection, and exorcism. The seed is thought to prevent the theft of any object which contains it.

Dill: Money, protection, luck and lust. Used in love & protection charms. Effective at keeping away dark forces, useful for house blessing.

Garlic: Magickal uses include healing, protection, exorcism, repulsion of vampires, and purification of spaces and objects.

Ginger: Draws adventure and new experiences. Promotes sensuality, sexuality, personal confidence, prosperity, and success.

Holly: Marriage, dream magick, luck, and love. Planted around the outside of the home for protection.

Honey: For attraction and solar magick.

Jasmine: Uses include snakebite and divination; good for charging quartz crystals. Use in sachets and spells to draw spiritual love and attract a soul mate.

Lavender: Magickal uses include love, protection, healing, sleep, purification, and peace. Promotes healing from depression.

Lemon: Cleansing, spiritual opening, purification, and removal of blockages.

Lime: Purification and protection, promoting calmness and tranquility, and strengthening love.

Marigold: Attracts respect and admiration, provides good luck in court and other legal matters.

Mint: Promotes energy, communication and vitality.

Mugwort: Carried to increase lust & fertility, prevent backache and cure disease & madness.

Oregano: Joy, strength, vitality, and added energy.

Paprika: Use to add energy to any spell or mixture.

Pepper, Black: Courage, banishing negative vibrations.

Poppy Seeds: Pleasure, heightened awareness, love, luck, invisibility.

Rose: Magickal uses include divine love, close friendships, domestic peace/happiness, and lasting relationships.

Rosemary: Carried and used in healing poppets for good health, used in love/lust spells, worn to improve memory, used in dream pillows to prevent nightmares, burned as incense for purification and removing negativity.

Saffron: Aphrodisiac, love, healing, happiness, wind raising, lust and strength.

Sage: Used for self purification and dealing with grief and loss. Carried to improve mental ability and bring wisdom. Used in healing sachets & incense.

Sea Salt: Uses include cleansing crystals, purification, grounding, protection magick and rituals.

Thyme: Attracts loyalty, affection, and the good opinion of others.

Self improvement is great but ultimately? you have to accept your self. Yes you can eat better, exercise more, read more, set boundaries, love your self, but it all comes down to this. Some days you won’t have the energy to do any of these things. And you’ll look in the mirror and think that this is not enough. That’s a lie. The biggest love for self is to live slowly. To rest. To really rest. Have a nap. Eat what makes you feel good. Read if you want to. Embrace yourself and accept that you cannot and will not be ever be perfect. Accept that you are good enough. You don’t need to keep busy all the time. you don’t need to go out all the time and post on instagram. You don’t need to journal if you don’t want to. You don’t need to make art if you don’t want to. Breathe, give yourself grace and compassion. Give yourself the love and tenderness you so badly need. Be gentle with yourself. You are trying and it is good enough. You are good enough.

Cleansing for Beginners•

•Release negativity • Purify • Neutralize energy•

Common items that require cleansing: Tarot Cards, Pendulums, Crystals & Stones, Spaces, Altars.

Before using any cleansing method, be sure to check if it’s safe. Some crystals or objects are sensitive to water, heat and light. Always burn responsibly.

Importance of Intent

Use affirmations to make your intent clear. Be sure to clear your mind and relax, you can clearly think of your intent and let it embody you. You can also speak the intent out loud or repeatedly think of it in your mind. Be sure to focus your intent on what needs cleansing. Also remember to keep your affirmations in the present tense.

Examples of affirmations

“This space is cleansed of all negative energies and influences.”

“The moonlight cleanses these stones.”

“These cards are purified.”

Using the Elements for Cleansing

• Water: submerge, sprinkle, rinse.

Fully submerge some items in a cup of water.

Sprinkle water over a space or object.

Rinse what you wish to cleanse.

• Air: incense, wind, smoke, oil diffusers.

Burning incense & diffusing essential oils can cleanse spaces and objects. Hold objects in the incense smoke for best results. Common scents for cleansing include lavender, peppermint, lemon, sage and rosemary scents.

Wind can cleanse items using weather conditions or fans. Hold items in the wind or allow wind to blow through a space.

Smoke of any kind can be used to cleanse but the easiest route is using incense smoke.

• Fire: flame, candle, heat, burn.

You can use candles in different ways. Hold an object over a candle and the heat and smoke will work together to cleanse. You can also use scented candles to cleanse areas. White candles are associated with purity.

Heat can be used with candles, flames or any other method. Hot springs are considered to have cleansing properties.

Burning or holding an item in a flame is considered to be cleansing as well.

• Earth: plants, dirt, mud, salt.

Different plants and herbs can be used for cleansing. Before using plants and herbs, be aware of any medical conditions, pregnancy, pets or children and be sure the plants you are using are safe. Common plants and herbs for cleansing include sage, rosemary, juniper, white pine and thyme.

Fully submerge objects in dirt or sprinkle with dirt to encourage cleansing.

Cover objects in the mud. You can place a dish with mud in a room and ask the earth to cleanse the area.

Burying an item is known to cleanse it.

Salt can be used in many different ways for cleansing. Most commonly it is sprinkled.

Crystals and Stones for Cleansing

Certain crystals have cleansing and purifying properties. This list is only a few.

Be sure to cleanse these crystals often. They may crack or break from absorbing too much energy. The exception would be self-cleansing stones.

Selenite

The best stone for beginners, it is very sensitive to water. This stone is self-cleansing and also cleanses the air and other objects around it. Keep it stored with other crystals, tarot cards, on an altar or on your person.

Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is very versatile in its uses. One of its properties is cleansing but it also requires to be cleansed itself. It can be placed in a room, on your person or on an object to cleanse.

Citrine

Citrine can be used to cleanse other objects, it also requires to be cleansed itself. Can be stored with other crystals, tarot cards and objects to keep them cleansed.

Carnelian

Carnelian has cleansing properties. It can be used to cleanse others and yourself as well as other objects.

Using Light for Cleansing

•Moonlight

Leave items in indirect or direct moonlight for cleansing. You can also allow moonlight to shine directly into a specific space.

•Sunlight

Alternatively, you can also leave items in indirect or direct sunlight or allow sunlight to enter a specific space. Be careful leaving certain crystals or stones in sunlight.

Best Times and Moon Cycles for Cleansing

Days of the week

Saturday’s & Sunday’s are the best days for cleansing. Saturday’s are ruled by the elements and are a day of relaxing and letting down. The best day for cleansing and protection. Sundays are the day to get ready for the week, prepare and cleanse spaces and items.

Days of the year

•Spring Equinox

A great time for manifestation and cleansing. Balance is heightened and there is a sense of renewal.

•May Day

A great day to cleanse, especially with fire. Purification is a theme of the day.

•Autumnal Equinox

A day all about releasing and starting new. Cleansing energies are high as a cycle is coming to an end.

Moon Phases

• New Moon

Associated with new beginnings and release. This is a great time for Cleansing, Manifestation and Planning.

•Full Moon

Associated with reset and letting go. This is a great time for Cleansing. Energies are very high and the moonlight can easily illuminate spaces and objects at this time.

Best Full Moons for Cleansing: December, October, March, April.

TL;DR: Use affirmations to affirm your intent while cleansing. Elements, sunlight, moonlight and certain stones/plants can be used to cleanse objects, spaces or people. Most effective on Saturdays, Sundays or during the new moon/full moon.

Different Ways to Develop Your Intuition

1. Meditate. Messages from your intuition tend to be quiet, so spending time in silence will help you hear and interpret these messages.

2. Start noticing all that you can with your five conventional senses. Doing so can raise your sensitivity to your sixth sense.

3. Pay attention to your dreams. When the cognitive mind is busy, it can override the intuitive right brain and the subconscious mind, the wellspring of intuition. But when you’re sleeping, your cognitive mind rests and opens space for the subconscious mind to signal you in dreams.

4. Get creative. Engaging in creative activities, such as drawing, scrapbooking, or free-flow journaling, quiets the cognitive mind and allows your intuition to speak up.

5. Divination. Learn to use a tarot deck, or try a deck of oracle cards, and interpret the card’s messages for yourself before you consult a guidebook.

6. Test your hunches. Got a feeling which horse will win at the track? Getting a sense that it will rain tomorrow even though the weather forecast says it won’t? Do you just know your best friend’s new guy is bad news? If you have feelings about what might happen in the future, write down your hunches, then check them later. See how often you were right.

7. Consult your body compass. Your intuition speaks to you through your body, and the more you cultivate somatic awareness, the more sensitive you become. If you get an uncomfortable physical feeling when you’re trying to make a decision, pay attention. Do you feel light or heavy? Got a sick feeling in your gut? Saddled with a headache or diarrhea? It could just be the result of stress responses activated by false fear, but it could also be your intuition ringing loud and clear.

8. Escape from your daily routine. Get away. Slow down. Go on a retreat, take a sabbatical, or just spend a day in new surroundings with nothing planned. When you’re overly busy, it’s hard to be sensitive to the quiet voices of intuition. Try clearing your schedule and see if your intuition pipes up.

9. Spend time in nature. Being in the natural world, away from technology and the cognitive mind’s other temptations, can open up the kind of intuition we needed when we as a species lived outdoors and relied upon it to keep us safe from the elements, predators, and other true fear dangers.

ok I know I already reblogged this without adding anything but I’ve been thinking about it all day so I’m doing it again with commentary

the “humans are inherently evil and will seize on any opportunity to fuck each other over” trope is not only tired, boring, and cynical, it’s just…wrong. I mean, to reiterate & get the obvious point out of the way, yes, anyone who espouses this view is not to be trusted. 99% of the time the person is just telling you what they would do when given the chance. You don’t want to be friends with someone who has fantasies of becoming some Mad-Maxian water-hoarder enslaving people for food.

but aside from that—the idea that people are horrible whenever given the chance is just…not backed up by real life. I’ve seen some shit. I was in Charlottesville on That Day and saw some really horrific sides of humanity that I have thought about almost every day since. But on the way back to our car, all of us filthy and sweaty and with low-key chemical burns from mace, some strangers saw us and asked if we needed help. They let us into their home and gave us water and food and let us shower before we drove home. They are probably part of the reason that I didn’t get hit by the car, because the time window we missed it by wasn’t a lot.

in February, Texas had a snowstorm/freeze of historic proportions. our statewide power grid was minutes away from a failure that would have left us all without electricity for months. Temperatures got down to teens here in Austin, where houses aren’t built to handle that & most people don’t know what to do, and a lot of people died (probably way more than official counts). I can’t get into all the hows and whys re: the disaster and its scope, but it’s definitely the closest thing to an apocalypse that I’ve lived through.

What happened during that week and the next, while some people had power and food and water and others didn’t? Did the haves leave the have-nots to die? Sure, some people cozied up in their homes and ignored the disaster, but a lot of us didn’t. My coworker (who didn’t have power himself) was running a crockpot from his truck so he could bring hot meals to people in need. I collected fallen limbs and turned them into firewood deliveries. Every local Facebook group I’m in turned into an ad-hoc mutual aid group, organizing food and water dropoffs. Strangers let other people into their homes, in the middle of a pandemic, whether to stay for days or just to shower and do laundry or eat a warm meal. My friends in other states contacted me, unprompted, to send me money so I could get more baby formula and food to give to people in need.

I think about this a lot:

This is who we can be, and often are. We can be civilized and kind and help each other. It’s not the path of least resistance in our current culture and societal structure, it’s not the easiest path, but it’s there. And I do think most (maybe not a vast majority, but a majority) people want to follow it, but a lot of them don’t know how and haven’t been shown yet. When you do that, when you work with mutual aid groups or help the lost child or carry the heavy groceries for the stranger that isn’t up to it, you’re showing them. You’re a guiding light to a better way for all of us to be.

And when we let the others—the people who actively choose to be selfish and mean and cruel, or, almost worse, the ones who don’t actively choose it but just do whatever is easiest any given moment, even when it hurts others—taint our view of the entire human race, they win. They don’t deserve to define humanity. Don’t let them.

Types of water and their uses

A lot of witches use different types of water in their practices. Here are a few. And remember intention is very important.

Sun water - vitality, happiness, strength, positivity

Sun water is made by cleansing your preferred jar in your preferred method, filling it with water, and putting the jar out into the sun for however long you would like.

River water - moving on, changing, letting go, cleansing

River water is made by collecting water from a river in a jar that has been cleansed. (Boil before consumption.)

Rain water - growth, change, cleansing, protection

Put a preferred jar that has been cleansed out in the rain.

Dew water - beauty, glamours, love, fertility, calmness

Dew water is made by collecting dew in a cleansed jar. (Boil before consumption)

War water - used for hexes, curses, bad luck, general negativity

War water can be tailored to what you have on hand. You just want to put nasty shit in there or things like rusty nails, dead bugs, moldy things, vinegar. Do not consume this at all.

Little Witchcraft Things To Implement In Daily Life When The Motivation Is Lacking

I've been lightly/casually practicing witchcraft for about 5 months now. as much as I love my craft and feel comfortable with it, I find that my motivation to study/do tarot/cleanse and charge crystals/literally do anything comes in waves. I've passed the last two holidays not really doing anything in particular other than a tarot reading for myself.

for a while, I felt really bad about it, wondering if I even "deserve" to call myself a witch. I soon realized that practicing this craft isn't like a homework assignment you must complete or a deadline you must meet before a certain time. thinking of it like that makes my anxious, schooled-out brain tired even now. even still, I wanted to figure out some ways to practice my craft at my own pace and maintain its prevalence in my life without burning myself or taking time from the other important things in my life. so, here's a little list of things that I do every day, maybe it'll help someone else along the way :)

always wear my quartz necklace when I go out, for general protection and anti-bad vibes

bring a tarot deck in my bag with me everywhere I go

take a look at my The World card charm as a little reminder that what will be will be

stare at the moon a little bit whenever I get the chance, to calm myself down, relax, and soak in her feminine energy, almost like I myself am a crystal needing to be charged

sit down in the sun while I do homework or read, letting the masculine powers motivate me for the task at hand as well as for future endeavors later

either a) make my own coffee, taking time to practice mindfulness as I do it, b) make tea, picking out a specific flavor with my intuition, letting it guide what I need to focus on and appreciate that day, or c) go out and get my own caffeine somewhere else and being as kind as possible to the workers to establish that good energy for the day

talk and listen to my talkative cat; you never know what guidance she may have for me

try to go outside and walk anywhere I go instead of driving if I can help it; nature is so beautiful and I often forget to appreciate it with all my busyness

it's not every day, but I try to take out my ukulele and guitar to just sit and play with the strings, almost like a bit of sound meditation/cleansing for myself

about once a month if I have a night where I sleep bad, I always light some incense and take a walk around my room, cleansing the area of bad energy and just readjusting the vibes

in moments of anxiety, stress, anger (which has been affecting me a lot recently), sadness, or what have you, stop whatever I am doing to sit and feel those emotions, practice some deep breathing techniques, and remember that I have control of myself and myself only, keeping in mind that the universe will look out for me

if anyone has any other suggestions, please drop them here!! they'd be really appreciated! I hope this list helps at least someone who feels the way I do, since I know (especially for baby witches/witches with mental health problems) that it often feels very overwhelming to do anything to practice your craft. as the weather grows colder and the sun comes out less and less, seasonal affectedness is starting to come out of the woodwork for many, including myself, so it's about time to really hammer in those "little things" into a daily routine so as to maintain your craft when things get funky. of course, whatever feels right to you is always best, this is just how I'm feeling about the approaching winter. :)

if anyone has any extra tips with dealing with a lack of motivation, witchcraft with mental illness, or the like, those would also be appreciated for the good of the order. have a wonderful rest of your day, week, month, and year and blessed be!! <3

Anatomy of a Spell

This post will go over what is needed for a spell to be created!

This is a page from my grimoire and by no means is this a set-in-stone situation. Take what you will and leave what you won't.

Desire or intent. This is the whole point of the spell. What is the desired outcome, what do you want to achieve from this spell?

Planning of ingredients, spell structure, time, and location. This includes the verbal or written aspect of the spell if any.

Protection, there’s really no reason not to have a safeguard on your spell in my opinion but this isn't true for everyone. Do what feels right for you.

Raising, gathering, or building energy for the spell. Energy is how you get your spell to work. This can be done by chanting, breathwork, borrowing energy, and more.

Directing energy into the spell. Self-explanatory, gotta get it in there somehow. Basically just getting the intent/desire from inside you to inside the spell so that it can work its magic (pun intended).

Release any excess energy if needed. Grounding is a good way to do this.

Clear and concise ending; this could be a phrase, word, or physical act that indicates the ending of the spell. It’s best when everyone and everything involved knows when you have ceased doing the spell.

Extras:

It’s a good idea to record your process and results of the spells you create and cast so that you have a reference for future spells; also you can figure out what went wrong or right.

I personally think it’s a good idea to put a fail-safe in a spell, I usually do this by stating it out loud: i.e. “If I take apart this spell bag then the spell will cease.” or “If I do this spell in reverse the spell will cease/reverse” and so on.

Preparing the physical and non-physical things for the spell; can mean gathering, cleansing, or preparing yourself to be in the headspace needed for the spell. It's better to be prepared than to get blindsided halfway through because you’re missing something!

AS FATHERS

The King of Wands is the most popular dad in school. The one his kids’ teachers have a crush on. He likes to play sports with his children and watch movies with them during weekends. The King of Pentacles busies himself with building an empire for his children to inherit, so they will not have to work as hard as he did. His kids tend to be spoiled. The King of Cups is the doting father his children truly adore. In case of separation or divorce, they would prefer to live with him instead of with their mother. The King of Swords is the parent who puts pressure on his kids to excel in school. He also encourages them to fight back. If he finds himself in the principal’s office because his son called his teacher a bitch, he would say, “From what I heard, she was acting like one.”

AS HUSBANDS

Attractive and outgoing, the King of Wands will always enjoy younger women’s attention. But as long as his spouse showers him with adoration and gives him sexual satisfaction, she can count on him to stay faithful. The King of Pentacles is a contradiction. Everything he does is for his wife and kids. But the constant distance from his family and the pressures of work push him to cheat. The King of Cups is fiercely loyal. He will stay in a marriage even when he is abused verbally or physically. But do not ever cheat on him. That is the one thing he cannot tolerate. The King of Swords marries for ambition. As a young lawyer, he may choose to seduce one of the firm’s partners. While he tends to be emotionally distant, he is a responsible husband.

AS BROTHERS

If somebody hits you in school, and you have an older brother to run to… The King of Wands will beat your bully bloody, and will teach you how to do it yourself next time. He responds quickly and impactfully. The King of Pentacles will manage to have the bully kicked out of school and maybe even have his parents fired from wherever they work. He responds behind the scenes. The King of Cups is much like the King of Wands in this regard. Both are driven by emotion in such aggressive situations. But afterwards, the King of Cups will ask you how you feel, and assure you that all will get better from here. The King of Swords has the most propensity for cruelty. He will sabotage your bully’s vehicle, leading to a fatal accident. Or he will hire the local gang anonymously to make sure the bully never walks again. He strikes sharply and permanently.

AS FRIENDS

The King of Wands is the loudest and the loneliest. He likes to hold parties and invite his friends to road trips because his demons find him when all is still and quiet. He acts the leader, but he needs his friends more than they need him. The King of Pentacles is the reliable friend. When he says he will be there in five minutes, he is actually only a minute away. He is the one friends call to for help in assembling furniture or cooking a fancy dinner. The King of Cups is the friend who likes to post quotes on social media. He recommends the best movies and discovers the best songs. The King of Swords is the friend who proofreads your thesis. The whole class admires him because he is not intimidated by the toughest teachers. You will often find him in the library with other book lovers.

The Queens

AS MOTHERS

Rash and fiery, the Queen of Wands would slap a five-year-old boy who bullied her son. Unforgiving and having a tendency for cruelty, the Queen of Swords would hit the bully’s parents instead, both with biting words and with her hands. Kind and reasonable, the Queen of Cups would speak to the bully, telling him why he should not hurt another child and asking him if his parents abuse him. Rich and influential, the Queen of Pentacles would threaten to have all the teachers fired if her son ever gets hurt again.

AS WIVES

Sexually passionate and naturally attractive, the Queen of Wands is the stereotypical trophy wife. Successful and independent, the Queen of Swords is married to her career first and foremost. Her spouse can only hope to be a second priority. Endlessly caring, loving and faithful, the Queen of Cups is the wife most spouses would kill and die for. Usually having inherited a fortune, the Queen of Pentacles is wealthier and more popular than her spouse. And while other people love to note the disparity, she never makes him feel lesser than she is.

AS AUNTS

The Queen of Wands is the hot aunt who looks more like your own sister instead of your mother’s. She introduces her nieces to makeup and high heels, and they love to tell her about their adventures with boys. The Queen of Swords is the aunt you are least close to. When she visits home, she may nod at you once, if you are lucky. Normally, she just ignores you completely. The Queen of Cups is the aunt who always takes your side. While arguing with a parent, a girl is bound to yell, “I wish I was your sister’s daughter instead!” The Queen of Pentacles is the generous aunt. Expect an iPhone for Thanksgiving and a MacBook for Christmas. You will not even have to ask.

AS SISTERS

Women with the Queen of Wands as a sibling tend to have an inferiority complex. They are used to being the less prettier and less popular sister, in school and long after. The Queen of Swords is the sister that makes you look stupid simply by existing. Straight As in school. Scholarships left and right. The Queen of Cups is the sister you are best friends with. Sometimes, you even feel like she is also playing the role of your mother. The Queen of Pentacles is the sister who loves to help out financially. She would lend you money without ever asking for it back.

AS FRIENDS

The Queen of Wands is the queen bee of every social circle. The center of attention at every party. The Queen of Swords is the friend you run to when you need help studying or when somebody hurts you. She will teach you memorization techniques; and from your enemies, avenge you. The Queen of Cups is a shoulder to cry on. Someone her friends can trust with their darkest secrets. She always helps and never judges. The Queen of Pentacles is the charitable friend. Borrow her shoes, purses, car and dresses, if you like. When she invites you out for dinner, you will not have to spend a dime.

Basic Fire Safety in Witchcraft

As witches, we burn a lot of shit, so fire safety is a MUST within witchcraft. It's not always about the magical safety but the mundane safety too.

BASIC FIRE SAFETY

🕯️1) NEVER leave a flame unattended. Leaving the house? Blow the damn candle out. Leaving the room to do other things? Blow the damn candle out. Animals around and you have to leave the room? Blow the damn candle out.

🧯2) ALWAYS have something to smother the flames with. E.g.: bowl of water, fire extinguisher, a lid or bowl to smother, etc

🔥3) NEVER let a flame near anything flammable (curtains, drapes, clothing, etc), and if using lots of herbs with a candle EXPECT A BIG FIRE and potentially broken glass. Don't make things hard on yourself.

🔥4) DON'T burn things on glass, Wood, Ceramic, Plastic, or ANYTHING FLAMMABLE. It will break or burn. Use Pyrex, a cauldron, or something that definitely will not break or burn. Don't use Copper, it conducts heat and can scorch whatever is underneath it.

🕯️5) TRIM YOUR DAMN WICKS. Wicks should be roughly 1/4 inch tall.

💥6) DON'T REUSE GLASS CANDLE JARS FOR OTHER CANDLES. Glass will expand and contract when it gets hot and cold and when it expands and contracts too much (from burning the candle inside of it) it can shatter when it is put through too much stress or continued stress. Rather, reuse the glass jars for knickknacks, storage, spell jars, or other things that are not candles.

☠️7) DON'T BURN POISONOUS SHIT.

🌿8) Don't put a shit ton of herbs in your candles. They are flammable and can cause the glass the candle is encased in to shatter. On other candles, packing your candle with herbs can cause them to catch fire and become one massive fireball you have to extinguish. They can cause the wax to melt exponentially faster and create a huge waxy mess. If using herbs, less is more. Or just circle the candle in herbs, it will have the same effect, i promise.

🔥9) If you have long hair, do not dip your head over a flame to blow it out, do it from the side or level to the candle. You may catch your hair on fire. Along this same line, don't blow too hard into a pool of wax unless you want a very hot and very scalding wax facial.

🐝10) WAX IS NOT EDIBLE. I know the brain bees wants to drink it but DON'T LISTEN TO THE BEES.
