I have no idea what @highmasterkarkaroff is doing behind me but uhâŠokay.
Being fabulous as usual. I donât know what you were doing in front of me though.
When @highmasterkarkaroff breaks a thing.
Why you gotta put me on blast like that.

You could always try government. The pay is better, and most of your work mates are so beaten down by the bureaucracy's slow grind that they don't often want to bother you for a chat. And you don't have to deal with other peoples' children.
â...Those are excellent points, but I think I prefer not being tangled up in government. Durmstrang may deal with politics occasionally...but for the most part we are left to our own devices.â
How did you become the highmaster of Durmstang? Did you plan a career in education or just fell in it ? Is the job fulfilling ? Well paid? Does it offer you status in society?
âMy father was the highmaster before me, and Durmstrang was supposed to fall to my older brother. Unfortunately for him, but fortunately for me, I have a knack for knowing things and wormed my way out of Azkaban to take over the school. The job is...never dull, Iâll give it that. It does afford me status, though Iâm afraid most think Iâm a cruel man and donât particularly care for me.â He strokes his beard, snickering, âPay well? Ha. It pays enough that I have to stay on property even when term is over. It isnât a very glamorous job.â
Have you ever attended one of Viktor Krum 's matches? Are you proud that one of your pupils is such a gifted and popular athlete or do favor academic talents more ?
âIâve attended several of his matches, and I am rather proud of him. I wish his academic talents were matched to his athletic prowess, but I am proud of him nonetheless. Heâs a good young man, who has a bright future ahead of him.â
đŹ
@durmstrangxchampionIt takes him a moment to speak, tipping his head in thought.
âLoyal, braveâŠson.â
That last word shouldnât have slipped from him as easily as it does, but it is what it is, and hopefully Viktor would never hear it.
What was your education like Igor? Were you a good student?
He frowns, considering the question for a moment, crossing his arms and pacing the length of the office, "It was satisfactory, I got high marks in dueling and charms. Decent marks in potions and herbology..."He pauses, smirking for a moment, "My highest marks however was in things to do with minds and discovering their inner workings. I was a hardworking student, not particularly gifted, but determined to succeed."
@softrvses
Viktorâs entire back tenses as Igorâs hand grasps him so tightly it nearly hurt. No faltering of his expression nor a whinge, only the tensing of his back would be his reaction to the tighter grip. âI am sorry if I have disappointed you, High master-â Viktor would not allow his voice to break, even if the thought that he had let down someone that was counting on him was harrowing. âDey are formidable opponents. If I von against lessers den it is no victory at all-â
It was always the same. You done well but, we are proud of you Viktor butâŠ
âIs dere sometâing on your mind, Highmaster?â he questions noticing the frown.
âNothing that is yours to worry about.â His voice softens, his grip on that shoulder loosening. Igor could be a hard man, but usually he was reasonable in his expectations. He wouldnât coddle students but he could be reasoned with most of the time. âThough I thank you for the concern. Viktor, no one would doubt that you are a bright and good young man, and that is something you should be proud of.â He pats the shoulder heâd been gripping so tightly, âYou have a good heart, and the kind of courage that reminds me of who I once was.â
âSometimes pleasing de crowd is more important dan already broken rules-â Viktor muses knowing all too well that public opinion was important whether one cared to admit it or not. âDe rules were târown out de window when Ministry let de boy compete. I honestly tâought ve vould be vitnesses to his murder in de beginning.â he carries on musing. âPoint being, rules were broken letting him be champion, ve should have known de game is slightly rigged.â
He did in fact not think that Potter ought to have been disqualified, if anything he admired the chivalry behind his intentions but he would keep such feelings to himself, the Highmaster seemed stressed enough as it was. Viktor could swear that Igor was more stressed by the Tournament than he was at some points.
âI vill use all de skills given to me by a better and fairer education. Dere is no judges, favoritism vill not matter in de end. De best one vill win-â
Viktor furrows his brow and looks up at the Highmaster at his comment. âI vill not pity dem or be merciful to dem out of fondness but to call dem enemies is bitâŠextreme is it not?â he questions staring into dark eyes lacking any kind of warmth.
âNyet, they are your enemies, or at least your lessers, and you do not need to concern yourself with them.â Igor snaps, hand firm on the boyâs shoulder, âYou must harden yourself, Viktor.â He shakes his head, sighing, âPerhaps I expect too much, you are after all just a boy. Sometimes I forget that.â Igor frowns, âJust win. Thatâs all I ask of you, Viktor.â
Growing Pains
Inessa grits her teeth, he had to say in her affairs and she wanted him out of her life. He had done NOTHING positive for her upbringing other than fond memories of when she was a little girl. He had thrown that all away by choosing the wrong side and now here he was lecturing her about choices.
ââŠYou are one to lecture, father! You chose the vrong side and vent to Azkaban leafing your vife and children alone.  Krum vill at least care for me, and love me. You haff no say in my life anymore, not after vhat you pulled!â
âI chose the wrong side, Da. And I was punished for it. I spent those years, missing you and your mother. Now Iâm here and I may have missed most of your childhood, but Iâm here, and I wonât let you make a mistake like this.â Igor grits his teeth, pacing back and forth, keeping his desk between them, fists clenched at his sides, âI donât understand why you cannot be simply glad to have me back as Libretta is. You were old enough when I went away to know that it broke my heart to leave you.â
Growing Pains
continued from x ă ââŠâho are you! You tell me 'ow to live my life. I love Viktor. You vill not rob me of 'appiness, I vonât let you!"ă
âIâm your father. And I said no. You will not be with him. Whether you like me or not is not my concern. I said no. I meant it. If I must keep you away from him, I will. You are not thinking with your head, but with your heart.â
He once more wiped off his face in his sleeve and pulled himself together. He was strong, the Highmaster was correct that moping would win him nothing. âNo. I vill not put it off my mind. Pain is motivation . I should have been better. Faster. Hermioniny was in danger because my fault.â he spoke determined that whatever his last task was he would prove worthy of his school.
âDe boy tried to save everyone- judges look for more dan just performance. His sportmanship was rewarded.â he disagreed with the Higmaster. He or Cedric could have easily done the same, attempt to save everyone rather than just their own.
âVe underestimated Harry- he is very skilledâ Viktor was first and foremost humble. He regarded Cedric and Fleur as his equals from the beginning, he grew to respect Harry as well.
No, wrong thing to say. The wrong sort of company to show humility to. âIt does not matter. De Potter boy von second place for character not skill. De maze nor de beasts vill be swayed by kindness or heart. Ve both known Hogwards turns nose to de dark arts. Dat is deir weakness and my strength. â Â
âPain is a good motivation, da.â Igor concedes that point, shaking his head, âThe rules were clear, only save your charge. He should have been disqualified, had he saved all of them, there would have been no competition. He should not have been rewarded for being so...soft.â He schools himself, inhaling deeply and releasing some of the tension that was held so tightly in his shoulders, âWe play to our strengths, always. We underestimated him once, we will not do so again. Hogwarts and Beauxbatons both turn their noses up at the dark arts. That is our key to winning, Viktor.â âYou will do anything necessary to win, there will be no rules in the maze or with the beasts that might lie within.â He squeezes Viktorâs shoulder, staring down at the young man with those eyes that were always cold and calculating, âDelacour, Diggory and Potter are not your friends, nor even schoolmates. They are your enemies, and you should keep that in mind.â
Continued from x
It seemed almost silly seeing as it was a Tournament known for itâs risks. He would have been fine risking his own lifeâŠnow the second task was over guilt engulfed him. What if he didnât reach Hermione in time..? A thousand what ifs running through his mind for it was his fault she had been placed in harms way.
If anything had happened to her, he would not be able to live with himself.
Durmstrang was known for itâs pride in perseverance. So yes, it was almost silly that Viktor sat on the steps alone consumed by guilt instead of pride that he performed one of the hardest forms of Transfiguration adequately enough to come second (even if Potter was awarded second place).
The hand on his back broke his thoughts. Shit. The last thing he wanted was their Highmaster seeing him a mess like this. Strength. He had to be strong, Durmstang was all about enduring.
âVhy does it hurt so much..?â he questioned wiping tears in his sleeve for the first time being in love and the girl was placed in danger just for his challenge.
âIt hurts because it is real.â The answer is curt and to the point, nothing less than what is expected from the Highmaster that only rewards strength and intimidation. Igor was troubled by the show of emotion from the usually strong boy, perhaps heâd placed his hopes on the wrong one, if this was cracking the veneer of strength Viktor had. His hand rubs at the boyâs back, encased as always in black leather, keeping a degree of separation between them, âIt hurts because it is real. But she is fine, and you should rightfully have had second place.â âYou must put it from your mind.â Heâs back to cool and professional, âIt changes nothing to hover on the what ifs.â
Try to break my muse in five words or less.
A shout out to those who identify with other Magical Schools besides Hogwarts.
You are valid and loved. Pass it on.
