Ranger's Apprentice is truly an fascinating book series, because it starts as the normal kid's book, where in book one our young underdog protagonist discovers he's good at something and goes on a big adventure that is in the periphery of a larger plot, then in book two he goes on another, slighty bigger adventure that takes him to the larger plot, but then it takes a sharp turn and book three is just, our main young protagonist gets kidnapped and enslaved and develops a drug addiction to cope with the harsh conditions... and people just let him publish that! Wild, 11/10 would recommend.

and they get into a huge screaming match and edgar shows up in the middle of it (after heathcliff shows catherine a SHEET OF PAPER HE HAS BEEN MARKING TO MEASURE HOW MUCH TIME THEY SPEND TOGETHER. BRO. YOU LIVE LIKE THIS?) and cathy is so mad that she forgets to act nice around him. edgar has only ever seen her being polite before and has no idea she's a horrid bitch of a person at home because everyone in wuthering heights is like an unsocialized covid dog. she pinches and SLAPS the housekeeper and then literally fucking acts like the countess boochie flagrante post and is like "NO I DIDN'T. I DIDN'T DO THAT." as edgar is backing off because now he's afraid of her. and for some reason the pathetic wet rag that is edgar linton also finds this extremely attractive. so they're engaged by the end of the night.

i need to see a modern teen movie adaptation of wuthering heights a la ten things i hate about you. it's the funniest book i've ever read.

And you know what? I’m in for it. She’s like, very committed to her insanity and has very distorted morals, so an interesting main character.

Besides (don’t attack me for this one) she has the same energy Jacks had in Caraval, a bit insane, a bit murderous, 100% willing to mess with people to get what they want…

And don’t get me wrong, I was pissed with her the majority of the book, but you have to respect the absolute insanity and chaos she was willing to create just to get what she wanted. Plus, it was entertaining.

So yes, in a way I’m cheering for our psychotic girl Aurora Valor
