Her sweet milk and honey sister, how she adored the younger bloom. Unsettling thoughts of her sister bound to another realm, forced Margaery to keep her grip firm on the slender arm. Time would see them part, but a vow had been declared upon birth that Laila should always be protected. Stray fingers lifted the skirts of her gown, bunching the fabric betwixt her digits so that her feet could freely move. ❝ Sweetling, you ask so many questions. I will answer many, but we may require a glass of arbor gold in my chambers to complete the task, ❞ Margaery offered, twisting her body elegantly to the notes of the music. ❝ Mother fares well despite the passing of time, she was saddened to see me go. As for the Reach, it’s beauty remains unrivalled. ❞ A long pause came, and then the curling of a smile. ❝ Little Daffodil, I have much to tell you. ❞
silken dresses wove together as they glided the polished floors , becoming one more than two as they twirled . ‘ i fear i have missed so much while here , i feared i’d never see you and mother again . ’ with the nightmare both celebrations had turned to , the young hightower could not help but be filled with dread . the thought of not seeing her sister at least once more was the worst one . ‘ i wish she would make the journey and be with us , i don’t like her on her own , i fear she may grow lonely . ’ though the reach was unrivalled in it’s beauty , she felt as if it was too large for her mother to be in all alone . ‘ please , you must , margaery , please , i must hear it all . ’ nimble fingertips circle small wrists as she grins upward , a sugared smile pulling at strawberry lips .
i have a tiny shift at work but i’ll be on after i promise !

Few had taken to the centre of the room, twirling around on their tip toes and reaching forth to graze the night’s sky. Had she been alone, Margaery would not have entertained the idea of dancing, if a suitable partner did not step forward. Her gaze flicked over her sister’s soft features, finding something endearing in the innocence. Many moons had been spent in the Reach, whilst her little daffodil was in the capital. ❝ Dearest one, you should not be so free to give away your dances, ❞ Margaery lightly scolded, although the honeyed smile never escaped her lips. ❝ Come along then. We shall dance. ❞ She tugged gently at Laila’s arm, the light silks of her gown following her womanly silhouette.
‘ for if i could , i would give you all my dances , sister . ’ she flattered , for she loved her sister so , following the elder as she tugged at her arm . silken skirts trailing the floors as she did so . ‘ i’ve missed you . ’ the youngest murmured . margaery was more than just her sister , she was her best friend , there was less a gap between the sisters than there was between laila and both her brothers and though she loved her brothers dearly , margaery was her confidant . ‘ you must tell me of home , how is mother ? is it still as beautiful ? ’ she had missed her home dearly , but her choice to be by her brothers side was most important to her , though she was sure he’d rather her home in highgarden . she could ramble questions for hours and never be bored . ‘ and you ? we’ve been apart for far too long . ’

Dancing was something that nearly every lord and lady learned to do, perhaps maybe not in the North or Iron Islands but most other nobles did. This type of dancing was only one of the kinds he learned in the Dorne and Essos, this was however the only kind appropriate for Kingslanding. “I would try my best to keep your attention at least on myself. Dancing is no if you are constantly worried for your steps. Dancing is supposed to be fun after all.” He’d seen glimpses of it, her letting her walls fall and focusing on what was happening in the moment, he craved more of that. “Maybe then we can dance without counting the steps, the imperfections make things more interesting.
Mors had been unusually quiet as he awaited with her answer, to him, to most other Dornishmen it wasn’t anything to be concerned about. Outside of House Martell not many married outside of the Dorne. Their birth status rarely mattered, he’d been as accepted as any other nobles of the Dorne. Being a highborn bastard in the Dorne was almost the same as being a trueborn child. In his case it was the same, no trueborn siblings meant he was heir to Godsgrace. “A true heartbreak, running away is not in our future it seems. It seems we’ll have to find another way to possibly enjoy time in Essos together.” No matter his title. He would have been lying if he said it hadn’t been eating at him. There wasn’t any reason for him to have such a fear, he’d only known her for a short time but that was how things in this world worked in their world. Everything went fast, feelings grew in short times. Even if he didn’t want to think about what they truly meant.
“Is that even simple I wonder?” If they’d been born two lowborn people with names no one cared for? “Perhaps it is better that we were born with the names we were given. If not I doubt that we would have ever met.” A servant in Sunspear would have been his life and hers…he couldn’t even imagine where her life would have left her. Mors’ words were stuck in his throat, her hand in his, telling her him that it didn’t matter, his title wasn’t important. To her it might not have mattered, but to everyone else it would matter. “It would be an honor to have you grace the halls, more of an honor than you know.” The words came to him but they didn’t sound right. Nothing sounded right to him, this wasn’t as easy as taking some woman to bed, talking to some stranger who would mean nothing to him past the night. Tightening his hold on her hand Mors mind focused on the softness of her small hand in his. “There would be one problem I could see if you did join me there.”
her sister was the dancer it seemed , she blossomed among the roses in a way laila did not . not that she envied the golden hightower , not really . ‘ believe it or not , but i find that in your company , all my attention is on you . ’ and who was she to lie to him , so comfortable she’d grown with him that her boldness grew with every word , she cared little for things she should and should not say in front of him , for her comfort found her speaking without thought . ‘ but you sound as if you wouldn’t mind losing a few toes , for i fear stepping on them is a talent i have when it comes to dancing . ’ after all , she’d grown up learning to dance upon augustine’s feet .
it wasn’t that simple , it never would be , but she was thankful for who they were and not who they could of been , because without that he was right , it was doubtful they would have never met and she truly thought of that as something , even within the short span of time , that she could not stomach . she didn’t want to know a life where he was not there anymore . it was strange , so little time and it was life her world had shifted axis , as if he was the sun and she was the earth . as if he was the moon and she a star . a life without him seemed unthinkable , not something she wanted .
‘ i suppose it’s not . ’ she murmured , her thumb rhythmically grazing over the ridges of his knuckles as she stroked gently , soothingly within his tightened grip . ‘ i do not like to entertain the idea of not knowing you mors , not at all . ’ she murmured , giving a tightened squeeze of her own fingers as she did so , pale in bronze , small in large , it was all opposite and she cherished the difference so . ‘ an honour ? ’ confusion was building , brushing across her features , dipping between her brows as teeth captured her lower lips . ‘ a problem ? ’

“well then, you must come and visit him. i’m sure he would be thrilled to see you.” she responded. “that is, if he recognizes you.” she added on with another smile so bright one might almost be fooled into thinking her words weren’t laced with malice. on one hand, nesta was wary of her cousins getting too close to her son, she’d never trusted the other hightowers, however her cousins were powerful and could potentially be an asset to her or her family one day. “perhaps you and your siblings could have dinner with brynden, my husband and i. it’s been too long since all of us have gathered together anyway.”
as ignorant as always to a malice filled tone , laila simply grinned . ‘ i’m sure he wouldn’t , young minds often forget faces so young . ’ there was no upset , no pain behind her words just fact . ‘ i cannot promise anything of my siblings , but i would be honoured to join you , i’m sure the others would be as well , i’ll mention i the next time we meet . ’ the youngest promised with yet another grin . ‘ you must tell me , everything i’ve missed since we last met together , cousin , i fear i missed too much in your life . ’

❝ How charming! I have not heard this tune before. I wonder if it was recently composed, or comes from another realm ❞ margaery mused, fingers washing against her lips as myrtle eyes settled on the band of musicians. Pianoforte was a favourite of hers, but she held little patience for any other instrument. It was a cheerful evening, wine easily flowing as people jested and the ladies sat patiently. Her mother had always instructed her on forbearance and grace, which she would not forget even in jovial company
a golden halo of hair crowded the bare shoulders of the youngest hightower , when news had sprung of her sisters arrivial , like with niki , laila had almost glued herself to margaery’s side , feeling more at home than she had in almost a moons pass . ‘ who bothers to care , dance with me ? ’ it was with her siblings that she became the childish girl she once was , again . though the same lessons had been shared between the hightower girls , laila cared little in this moment .
