Paul was under the weather, anyone could tell. Though Paul’s condition wasn’t caused by a cold no, he never go those. His state of deteriorating health was caused by nostalgia. His old friends when he was a human. The sun on his skin. All the highly borderline dangerous things that populated the Great Depression. Maybe it was this that made the cave so empty even if everyone was home, sleeping. The usual infectious energy Paul once carried was gone. It felt odd, uneasy even.

First person now lololololol

It was mid day and everyone was sleeping, well with the sole exception of myself. My mind raced with so many thoughts it hurt. My hands twisted as I played with a switch in hand, not even bothering to flitch at the small gashes being my inflicted on my fingers, after all they’d heal sometime or another.

The view of the suns glow from my nest was beautiful. Seagulls twisted together with the clouds. I wished for the days back when I would freely walk in it without the fear of being burnt to a crisp.

It was unusual for any of the boys to be up past sunrise, which is why it took no time for me to notice that Paul wasn't asleep with the others. Still tired, I maneuvered around the boys and closer towards the opening. I found Paul where I expected to. I didn't need heightened senses to see the yearning in his eyes. Besides, I know the feeling all too well. I take my place beside him, looking out at the sunlight covered beach. "You're up late." Simply stating the obvious.
