⚠️ CW: mentions/art of eds & sh ⚠️
For NEDA week, I wanted to share a more personal comic, specifically a little bit about my own experience with recovery - for EDs, recovery isn't just a clean break from damaging habits - it's a long and arduous process where you have to rewire every part of your thought process and learn to trust your body again as it reels under the change. EDs are widely considered one of the deadliest mental illnesses due to their impacts on your physical and mental health - sometimes it feels like you will never be able to just enjoy eating "normally again" or you'll never stop looking at yourself in the mirror and only seeing your body in a negative light.
But one day, someone will show their most ignorant side, and you'll realize that you've actually made progress.
And if you've ever been that guy, lowkey go fuck yourself, and I sincerely hope you stop and think before you speak again because you never know what that person might be going through.
I still have those thoughts, and I'm still working on loving myself as I change. But I have an incredible support system and have come so far since, and I'm so excited to keep trying new things!
If you or a loved one is struggling with disordered eating, reach out. 🦋
