Castiel aided in the creation of the world—or, at the very least, he watched it happen. He tucked behind archangel legs back when he was barely a fledgling, excited wings fluttering and earning a laugh from his favourite brother Gabriel. It had been quite scary at the beginning, to be honest. Lights and colours and flora he had never seen before spotting the planet that was once nothing but an ugly, burning rock in space.
It had been hot at the beginning of the world, humid and muggy and warm. The first concepts of insects buzzed around and thrived in the wet air, breeding in the still water that resided in every crevice. Gabriel had introduced him to all the beautiful things God had crafted, had told him all the things the angels were supposed to do to help the start of a planet of life. All the other planets had been barren before, but now God was breathing creation upon this one.
He’d been a curious young creature at that age, unknowing to the tradition of holding one’s tongue.
Gabriel didn’t mind, didn’t correct him. “Why this planet?”, “What’s this?”, “What’s this for?”, “Is this all it will ever be?”—all questions he was not privy to knowing. All questions Gabriel answered anyways. There was a kindness to him the other archangels viewed as a weakness, something that God had left him with but never helped him with.
Castiel had not been born to a world that was thickened with ice; the world he was born to twitched hot and warm and muggy, breathing and moving in a wild fight for survival. Creatures snarled exhales of fire, they slashed with burning claws, they devoured with a heated hunger curling in bellies growing greedier by the day. The world had been a pit of the fiery destruction, burning the surface like scorched rubble until it died and blossomed green.

sometimes i think about how thomas was genuinely considering letting WICKED literally extract his brain to try find a cure right after newt died and then i don’t want to think anymore

I'm currently rereading the tmr series & annotating/analysing as I read, and I just came across the most amazing use of symbolism which I thought was so interesting I had to share!!
So, in the first book, Thomas goes to the Deadheads on his second day (p. 67) when he's following a beetle blade.
Here's an excerpt from the scene that struck me as interesting:
The first grave Thomas notices carries the name "Stephen". I think this name isn't just random—it's a direct reference to Thomas's past. I'll explain what I mean.
As we know from the fever code, Thomas's real name was Stephen before wicked tortured him so he'd take Thomas as his new name. Therefore, I like to think of "Stephen" as the old Thomas—as a representation of the past (before wicked)
So, the fact that Thomas sees a cross with his literal "dead name" on it seems to be a symbolism for the death of his past.
The grave represents the fact that wicked took his identity from him and basically "killed" the real Thomas (or should I say "Stephen") by doing so.
The fact that it "looks fresh" could also be a reference to Thomas's recent arrival in the Glade, since that's when he really starts to take part in wicked's trials.
Another thing that I noticed is that Thomas also feels sorrow when he sees the grave. Detached sorrow, which aligns with the taking of his name: he didn't want to be called Thomas, but eventually the torturing got so bad he grew detached from his real self—from Stephen—and accepted his new name in surrender (sorrow).
I believe this is a beautiful use of symbolism and I'm curious if you guys agree!! Tagging some tmr mutuals bc I need someone to tell me I'm not reaching here

Adam Milligan had never expected his life would turn out so... supernaturally involved. He didn't expect he would find out he has brothers, or that his dad was a 'hunter', or that he was part of some freaky angel-vessel-bloodline thing. Or that whole dying a couple times thing—would not recommend. However, he did manage to get married to a pretty cool dude. Who looked like him, and who had his head in his lap right now despite being a 'big bad archangel'. And even if it was technically his voice, Adam could fall asleep now listening to him read.

James was a long way from home. The lightness in the air and the dew gave it away, but so did the emptiness in him. A hole had been burned into his being by something divine, and now it was gone and he— Jimmy didn't know how to be himself anymore without it. He'd woken up from possession with strange men who weren't really much of strangers at all. He knew them; but only through Castiel's eyes. And sure, Sam had been kind enough. But Dean? With all his rough angles and sharp slips of tongue, jealousy lingering? Jimmy fled.
