wow so ive been on this site for who knows how long and i have still not made an intro post??? ouch. so uh here goes nothing ig? *waves awkwardly* salaam! hi. hello.

about me: my online name is hijabiwriter, u can call me HW for short (not hw plz do not associate me with the horror that is homework), she/her, MUSLIM AND PROUD OF IT!!! TADC EP 9 SPOILERS!!

so i've seen a lot of ppl talk about trans jax. and my first thought was, indeed, trans jax, but then the ending changed my mind. i don't think jax's mom hated him bc he was trans -- in fact, i feel its a bit more nuanced than that.

in the ending, when the cast are shown their outside lives, jax is referred to as "he". he looks like a guy, with short hair and hoodies and and just the overall vibe. i think he didn't transition because there was no need to transition. in my opinion, jax's mom didn't hate him because he wanted to be a girl, she hated him because jax wasn't the type of man she wanted him to be.

jax's dad, based on what we know about him, seems to be the epitome of toxic masculinity, and thats most likely what jax's mom fell in love with. but when they got divorced, she grew to hate it yet still wanted jax to be that way so it seemed like her life was still going well.

and jax hated it because his dad's idea of being a man wasn't jax's idea of being a man. instead of being a girl, jax just wanted to be soft, kind, caring, not rough or tough or brawny. in my opinion, jax is comfortable being a guy -- just not the kind of guy his dad was and that his mom wanted him to be.

we see in the ending that jax seems perfectly comfortable being a guy. he posts pics of himself and zooble's bar, looking like a guy. he dresses like a guy. according to caine's slides, he's living with people who he trusts. most likely, he didn't transition because that was never what he wanted. what he really wanted was to be a guy who was the opposite of the stereotypical jock dude. he wanted to be the kind of guy who doesn't need to play sports, who doesn't need to look tough, who doesn't need to show off and impress people. but most likely he'd been doing that all his life with his mom.

and when he told ribbit, she just assumed that jax was trans. but it's very much possible that jax didn't want to be a girl -- he just wanted to be his own type of guy. but after telling ribbit, he panicked and pretended that it never happened by going to the other extreme.

just because jax's mom didn't accept him and he felt like he had to hide his true nature doesn't automatically mean jax is queer. it could very well be the reason, but i'm sick of people saying it's the only reason. for all we know, jax is very comfortable being a guy -- he just doesn't want to be the type of guy his parents wanted him to be.

also, making jax be queer feels very overdone in my opinion. it's a trope that i've seen over and over, and personally it felt like zooble already had that arc. i know hers was more about body dysmorphia, but still -- if jax is queer, it would just feel overdone and repetitive, and i thought that maybe it's not as black-and-white as we think.

Jeff whipped his head around. He’d been trying to catch another glimpse of the kid superhero since he’d ran across the roof of the police station. And now he was here, attention focused on Garmadon’s mech that was slowly stepping onto city streets. On-duty officers forced civilians away from the danger zone. 

But Jeff stood frozen, still fixated on the boy on the roof. Wasn’t he afraid? Why would he risk his life like this?

get rdy for a fight scene as well as the totally-not-a-date night between two extremely concerned parents of their potentially shared child <33 (they just don't know it yet haha)

potential non-canon snippet for my fic universe bc i wanted nya angst and i already wrote the majority of the "nya suffers in book 2" stuff

The first few days, Nya forced herself to ignore her feelings. 

Not that there were many – processing what had happened was the only thing that rattled around in her brain. Everything else had taken a backseat.

But then her feelings got too strong to ignore. The truth settled in, swift and sharp and painful. They all left you, her mind reminded her. They all left you behind.

Lloyd. Your parents. Kai.

Everyone.

Nya tried not to think about it, but with each passing day, with no form of distractions to keep her brain busy, her thoughts on the subject only pestered her more and more. It was only when tears leaked from her eyes one night that she knew something had to be done. So she turned to the one thing she swore she’d never do.

Getting intoxicated.

More specifically, getting drunk.

So she got dressed, threw on Kai’s leather jacket that he’d left behind, and headed out the door. Her first thought was to head to a bar, but she shoved that thought away. She was being stupid, sure, but she didn’t want to get caught.

No one needed to see her open and vulnerable and – ugh, forget it. She stormed down the streets until she reached a familiar looking house with flashing lights so bright it made her head spin. She pulled open the unlocked door and stepped inside, not bothering to acknowledge the host’s presence. Chen was too busy partying anyway, something Nya wasn’t going to bother indulging in. I’m stupid, but I’m not that stupid.

Besides, she was only here for one thing.

The giant punch bowl was right on the counter, stationed next to a barrage of red cups. Nya grabbed one, filled it as much as the cup would allow, and poured the contents down her throat.

soooo yeah this is obviously a veeeerrryyyy bad idea but shes hurting :3 i think this is a realistic depiction of non-Muslim teen angst? maybe? idk man we can't get drunk soooo

also i dont condone underage drinking!!! plz dont do it!!! this was just for angst and it might not even make it in heh
