“THAT’S IT?!” That was really all they planned to do? But that didn’t make any sense! Plus, the fusion wanted her to join them? But she- wait, magician? Peridot was just getting more and more confused as the other spoke, but her last point certainly did sound appealing- being able to relax? That would be amazing. Plus, it wasn’t like Yellow Diamond planned on sending anyone to pick her up soon, so what choice did she have? She wasn’t exactly feeling very safe with that hammer at her feet every few seconds. She skidded to a halt, hoping the fusion wouldn’t trip over her or something.

Once Peridot stopped running, Sardonyx did as well, though she took a step back so she could crouch and hold two hands out to the green gem.

“Of course - what else did you think we were going to do? Shatter your Gem and bubble the pieces? No no no, we aren’t that bad! Besides, you’ve done more running than fighting, how harmful could you possibly be?”

“That being said, darling, if you do try to escape, I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I am more than happy to use.”

“SO WHAT EXACTLY WILL HAPPEN IF I GO WILLINGLY?” Another ground shaking slam, and once again the Gem found herself sailing through the air for a moment, as if she was some cartoon character. The fusion was having fun at Peridot’s expense, and that hammer just kept getting closer…

“Well first of all, I can stop swinging this hammer, and I wont hurt a single hair on your head - I am assuming that’s hair.”

“After that, you get the honor of being asked a few simple questions, and then not being killed, assuming you behave. I don’t want to kill you, Peridot. I’d much rather you joined us, think of all the potential! You could be a magician yet with those fingers of yours.” Clearly, the fusion was losing track of what she was meant to be doing ever so slightly. “That, and the others and I will stop chasing you. No more living in fear!”

“Oh, that’s a shame, I thought you meant there were of me, the lovely wondrous Sardonyx! I don’t think I could do much of anything with them as an assistant.”

“Say, how flexible are you? Could you fit in a small box?”

“Flexible? Well, I can reach my toes most days.”

He stretches his limbs and back only to hear an overly loud “Pap” in his lower spine

He proceeds to hold himself in a somewhat odd manner. He seemed fine, if only a little uncomfortable

“Anyways, welcome to Beach City Sardonyx, I hope you enjoy you’re stay! Nice outfit by the way, are you some kind of performer?”

...Well, looked like he wasn’t going to be much use for the folding box trick, then! It would make more sense to have a Gem for that anyway, she’d see if she could find Amethyst.

“Don’t worry about that box - I’m sure I can find someone else!” As her outfit was complimented, she beamed.

“Why thank you! It just so happens that I am a performer - watch this!” All she did was summon her weapon, like she had done with Steven, but the mayor hadn’t seen it yet, she was sure, so hopefully it would impress him.

“Oh? There’s more of me?” She clasped her hands together, each to their respective pair. “How many? I must know! The more we have, the better the show!”

“Thats about… Six of you so far, I think?”

“Oh, that’s a shame, I thought you meant there were of me, the lovely wondrous Sardonyx! I don’t think I could do much of anything with them as an assistant.”

“Aaaah!” The hammer slamming into the ground to close to her actually lifted her into the air for a moment, but not long. She came crashing down, only just managing to recover quickly enough to continue running as if it hadn’t happened. “SO IT’S SURRENDER AND DIE LATER, OR DIE NOW? I’D RATHER TAKE MY CHANCES WITH YOUR DUMB HAMMER!”

“I’ll shoulder some blame for my bad wording there.”

She swung the hammer again, and yes again, just missing the green Gem. This was fun! It was amusing watching Peridot flee, convinced she had a chance if she just kept running.

“But no. If you come with me willingly, you wont be harmed. Keep running, however...”

“I can’t promise you’ll be in one piece for long!”

“Oh, well hello there Amethyst! Are you here to watch me smash things up? I hate to disappoint but I’m not here to mindlessly destroy anything.”

“Pearl!” Sardonyx grinned, taking a few leap-like steps towards the pale Gem. “Now aren’t I glad to see a familiar face - would you be so kind as to lend me some assistance?”

“Well if it isn’t Lapis Lazuli - Steven’s been worried sick about you! Or, last I checked he was, anyway.” Just had to take that dig, didn’t she? “I take it you finally unfused? You and jasper did not go well together at all, darling.”

Snark or run? The answer was obvious, but unfortunately, it would mean losing her life. Luckily, she had a backup plan. Both. The Gem immediately span on her heel, running in the other direction. But, of course, she made sure to look back at the giant behind her to yell “YOU COULDN’T SMASH THE BROAD SIDE OF A HOMEWORLD STAR CRUISER WITH THAT THING!”

“Oh aren’t you just adorable? I could squish you- well, I should be squishing you!” She jumped into the air, lifting the hammer, bringing it down and slamming it into the ground, not too far away from Peridot.

“That was a warning - now one last chance, come with me, or I take you back injured, or back inside your Gem.”

She gladly stepped on the fusions hand, smiling up with stars in her eyes, it had been so long since she had been graced with the giant woman’s presence, so she was a little shell shocked.

“I…ugm….it’s been some time, I’ve…been like this for a while. You just haven’t seen me.. uhm…this way…”

Sardonyx moved Stevonnie a little closer, so she could get a better look. “You’ve been fused for a while?” Two of Sardonyx’s hands that weren’t holding Stevonnie balled into excited fists, a soft, excited sound leaving her. “That’s fantastic! I’m so happy for you! This calls or a celebration! How long’s a while?”

Sardonyx pressed two of her hands to her cheeks as she looked at Yue. “Your hair is every kind of stunning! I’m almost jealous.”

Yue stared up at the giant woman in wonder. “O-Oh…I’m Oh…Well Tui blessed me with it.”

“Tui?” The fusion asked, tilting her head slightly. “I’m not sure I know them - think you can book me an appointment with them?” She was, of course, only being playful.

“You know, im starting to think we should put the announcement of arrival law back into effect. Because you giant ladies have been showing a whole lot lately!”

Pearl’s confusion was sidetracked by Sardonyx’s compliment. A light blue blush dusted her cheeks and she let out an involuntary laugh. “Oh, Sardonyx… You’re just as lovely as the others have always told me.”

“Why thank you! I do try.” She tugged just a little on her bowtie, before crouching down with a grin. “So how are you doing today?”

Sardonyx’s eyes lit up, a larger than life grin spread across her face, “Stevonnie! I have been dying to meet you and at last I have!” She crouched, moving a hand to pat the top of Stevonnie’s head with one finger. “Hopefully you’re as excited as I am!”

“Sardonyx! You’re fused again!” Stevonnie hopped up and down like a child, running up and clinging to the fusions leg, just totally in awe of the gian woman. She giggled and looked up at her. “So, what are you doing?”

“I am indeed!” The fusion was still grinning, and clapped two of her hands together in her excitement. “I was here looking for Steven, though don’t feel like you need to unfuse! I’m glad to finally make your aquaintace, Stevonnie.” Sardonyx lowered a hand, for Stevonnie to step on if she wanted. “
