I feel like talking about different beyblade gens would be much more productive if we all acknowledged each generation is playing a different game it just so happens they all have spinning top looking things

Each beyblade generation also is heavily tied to the time period it released in and what were some hobbyani genre staples at the time

When mfb came out a lot of hobby and sports anime had this thing going where the sport or toy were actually a larger than life cosmic energy of the universe life or death fight against evil [ina11 ygo dm/5ds]

Meanwhile when beyburst came out more down to earth actually just playing the sport type of deal [haikyuu for example] was more popular

And beyblade generations adjusted accordingly

Look I know Kenta is a normal Japanese given name but hear me out okay

So as some of you might know I am teaching myself Korean have been for almost a year now. And I was doing a lesson on fantasy creatures and came across the word for centaur which is 켄타우로스 [Kentauroseu romanised] and you see where I am going with this right? Anyway so I checked if the Japanese word is similar because Korean and Japanese do have words in common and behold

And we all know what Sagittario is don’t we

Look maybe someone realized this before me but

I can’t believe Kenta’s name has been a pun on Centaur this whole time and we didn’t know

So we all know Doji is the scum of the earth. But I was thinking about the Dark Nebula bladers and realized something. There is a specific criteria they all match in. Let’s take a look

The Kumade Brothers

So irrelevant not even the audience remembers them. Most of the time they win together (lol) and they lose together. Nobody cares about them really .

Dan and Reiki

Like the Kumade brothers they win (yes sometimes they do) and lose together and they don’t really interact with anyone else have no other friends not even in the organisationZ

Tobio

He is known under an alias “Captain Capri” the general public had seen his face twice before Ryuga recruited him to the organisation for most of the people he’s a faceless urban legend a sniper that works from the shadows.

Ryutaro

We don’t learn much about him except that he looked like a travelling psychic but he is never seen interacted with someone on a really friendly base either.

Tetsuya

He cut ties with his only friend and famously pushes people away he shuts himself in his own crab shell with no personal relationships to speak off

Yu

Famously he was found by Doji in the middle of nowhere desert. No friends no parents. Nobody that took care of him or even knew of his existence.

Tsubasa

Yes he worked for the wbba but outside of that? He didn’t have friends. I’m fact i don’t think he had experienced a genuine friendship with a human until GanGanGalaxy

Is the pattern becoming clear already?

Hell even Ryuga

We don’t know his anime backstory but if we go by manga and think about the fact he’s an ancient human who was asleep and was awoken by doji and through that basically depended on him for a bit to navigate the modern world. Nobody he might or might have not cared about from his past is alive anymore.

With the exception of Tsubasa -who was not recruited btw he basically made doji hire him- nobody of these people would be missed if they suddenly disappeared. So Doji can do to them what he wants.

But wait there is more

This is the miscalculation he made with Yu. Because at the point where Yu got kidnapped, he had formed meaningful bonds with people. His friends that cared about him and came to rescue him, which Doji had failed to consider.

This is also why he knew he couldn’t keep Kyoya and chose to attack him instead. He knew people - many people - would notice if he suddenly went missing. He knew Kyoya had a support system to a certain degree so Doji didn’t have the freedom to do what he wanted like with the others.

And we can also see that the pattern doesn’t change. The Garcias are street kids. They clearly have nobody that looks out or cares for them so they’re ideal candidates for Hades Inc.

So what does this show? Doji is the scum of the earth and it only gets worse the more you think about it.

Now that I have access to MFB eps in higher quality here have this

Masamune -Not Yu- should have been the substitute or How to not introduce a new character

So Masamune Kadoya. I feel like he’s a very polarised character in the fandom. Either you really and I mean REALLY like him or he gets on your nerves like a fly buzzing around the room you can never seem to catch.

My personal opinion on him is eh irrelevant to this discussion as I’m trying to be as objective as possible in this post. That being said I know a lot of my negative emotions that I feel/felt towards him stem from the way he is introduced.

When Masters starts we literally have no idea who this guy is except that he keeps calling himself the No1 blader with nothing to back up his loud mouth. As a viewer i was like uhm.. And the more he interacts with the gang the more he seems like a less intelligent less charismatic copy of Gingka.

So when he gets to be a main player in Team Gan Gan Galaxy instead of Yu or Tsubasa we as the viewers who are already attached to Yu and Tsubasa and have seen their strengths just feel like ??? What?? Why this guy??? It doesn’t add up??? Yes we see him train this one time but I personally as a viewer have no reason to cheer for him to be on the team when it could have been two beloved characters which makes you just really frustrated and you’re wondering how did he beat them but not in wonder but in annoyance because he literally came out of nowhere and I’m supposed to believe this guy with Gingka’s worst traits turned up 20 fold is so good he becomes a main player on team Japan? AND IM SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR HIM NOW?? It’s just frustrating from an emotional perspective.

Especially when we have seen the anime successfully introduce an - at the time- overpowered and mysterious character: Yu

Yes there is a very good reason I mentioned him by name in the title. Yu’s introduction is very well done. We see Doji recruit him in the desert where we get a teaser for his power. During the survival battle Blader DJ announces someone has beaten 10 players at once. Then the fight with Hikaru Kenta and Benkei where he takes all of them out. At this point we have been teased enough to know this kid is no joke. So when he not only beats Kyoya but also Gingka in the final of the survival battle it doesn’t feel like it came out of nowhere. We had seen Yu’s power in action before we had seen him defeat strong blader after strong blader. So his victory in the survival battle made perfect sense. You were impressed instead of being like what???

“So Hani how would you fix that and still keep the pacing of metal masters?” Well besties it’s in the title. Instead of having him be a main player make him the substitute. It would have been a much more interesting story to have him kind of an underdog that slowly grows to be one of the strongest bladers in the world.

Not to mention it would give us a perfect parallel to Zeo

Towards the end of metal masters there is some focus put on the arrangement system vs the bladers spirit. And since the dungeon trio were the core of the HD Academy arc it would have been very interesting to have Zeo as kind of representative for the arrangement system and Masamune who used to be weak but became stronger because of his bladers spirit. Both doing it for Toby. That would have made Zeo’s win even more emotional and it would have created more tension because you’d genuinely be scared and would have no idea if Gan Gan Galaxy would actually win this.

“But hani THEYRE the main characters it would be obvious they’d win!” Would it tho? Let’s compare. I’m the metal fusion finale Gingka vs Ryuga it was pretty obvious who would win we had two episodes left there was no way Gingka would lose. Here however? Damian vs Gingka is around episode 40 and we have 51 episodes in this season. You would not actually know if they’d win immediately because there are still more than a few episodes to go.

I know this post is low-key all over the place but I hope you guys could kinda understand where I’m coming from and If you want to start a discussion I’m all ears.

Julian Konzern: The Chained Prince

I was scrolling through my drafts some time ago and found a post from years ago where someone wished that the Andromeda constellation would’ve been chosen for a beyblade and that it could’ve gone to Sophie to imply/foreshadow a relationship with Julian whose beyblade is Perseus (Deatroyer).

And while I do wish that Andromeda would have been a beyblade in the series (thankfully there are OCs hehe) I don’t think it would work for Julian and Sophie in the way that person described

Let’s look at the myth for a second.. In Greek Andromeda was a princess and she was known to be very beautiful. Her mother Cassiopeia (which is also a constellation btw) boasted about that she claimed her daughter was even more beautiful than any see nymph. And like we all know the Greek gods take these things personal. So Poseidon sent a Sea Monster to devastate their kingdom and the only way to save the kingdom was to sacrifice Andromeda so she was chained to a rock fated to be killed by the monster. The sea monster btw was called Cetus (yes like Sophie and Wales’ beyblades but that’s a discussion for another day)

I promise you guys this is important to my analysis

Anyway so then we have our guy Perseus who was flying around in the region and saw this beautiful princess tied to a rock and fell in love. So he killed the sea monster with his magical flying horse Pegasus (yes the meta possibilities are endless with this one) and they got married.

The reason I’m saying all this is because if it wasn’t clear already. I think the person in the anime who has the most obvious parallels to Andromeda is none other than Julian Konzern.

Let’s take a look shall we?

Both are born into fortune. She’s a princess and Julian is the son of like the richest people in Europe or something.

In both cases their families weren’t careful and ended up in trouble with a higher power be it pissing off the gods or Hades Inc (although after looking at metal fury you could argue that’s the same thing sorta)

The only way to save their fortune/kingdom was for them to be sacrificed. Andromeda was chained to a rock waiting for the sea monster to kill her and Julian was metaphorically chained to a rock and forced to work for Ziggurat or else.

See where I’m going with this?

But it doesn’t end here actually because I do think that Sophie has some parallels to Perseus as well. Like for example? The fact that when push comes to shove her and Wales do everything in their power to protect Julian.

A prime example of this is when Tsubasa shows up and challenges him. They don’t get a chance to fight however because

Sophie and Wales don’t hesitate to protect Julian and stand in the way of danger in order for him to be safe.

Even when they felt betrayed by him it was still pretty clear that they cared about him.

So in conclusion if anyone is Andromeda it’s Julian and not Sophie. She would be Perseus in that case.
