this is a personal blog! i'll vent here a lot a lot a lot lot lot and just kinda vlog my day when im online, but i also will post things i find cute, cool, or relatable! right now thats jirai, menhera, and medcore content, with maybe some 2014 style pastel goth and creepy-cute stuff! im also a hikkikomori and a neet (as the url implies) - not really because i want to be, but because im severely disabled

Fellow disabled folks who struggle to walk (cld be sometimes cld be all the time!)

Sitting in bed rotting on a phone or tablet endlessly watching stuff can feel depressing and worsen mood

SO

Here's some things to do (on your phone or from your bed) that are low energy/effort

Some of these things may seem obvious however this is a reminder that they are possible to do if you let yourself

Organise/re-organise spotify, pinterest and other platforms you use to curate interests

Colour - you can download blank PDFs and either print them if you can hold a pen OR open them in any free drawing app (can be done with a fill tool to avoid holding a pen if thats too difficult)

Reading - if you cant or struggle to read listen to an audiobook OR use a screenreader on any platform that has your favourite books or fics

Journalling - there are journalling apps as well as physical journals that you can decorate yourself!

Gentle exercises - sitting for hours at a time isn't great for joints and there are great influencers out there with low mobility friendly exercises to keep joints moving and blood flowing

Write or play music

I greatly appreciate any additions!

You don't have to be disabled physically to find this useful, maybe you have depression or low energy but want to have tasks to do!

Some additions i’ve thought of:

shift your bedding in some way! whether that be fluffing pillows, re-situating blankets, arranging stuffies/comfort items, if you’re able pulling out the wrinkles in the sheets or ask a support person to do so if available to you

if food/drink is accessible, treat yourself to some (and make sure you’re getting the nutrients you need as much as you’re able, same for adequate fluids)

if water is accessible, something i do is swish some in my mouth a bit as if it were mouthwash, i also have a toothbrush and floss picks next to my bed so that i can dry brush or floss if i ever wish to (read: have any modicum of energy to do so)

i like playing video games—but often i don’t have the energy or ability to—so i end up watching or frankly even just listening to someone else play and pick whatever game i’d like and search the title of it along with the phrase “100% walkthrough” or “full game walkthrough” since then usually it’s just all of the game noise and no talking as that can cause/worsen headaches amongst other things (i’d recommend basically any of the zelda franchise, it’s engaging but still mostly chill n peaceful background noise)

grounding things can also be helpful, but usually when im stuck in bed or have low energy, grounding things only serve to remind me of the pain/discomfort i’m in, especially if it’s been a minute since my pca could help me bathe; if grounding techniques would be helpful i tend to do the 5-1 senses grounding technique (i don’ have spoons to describe but it should be searchable under that name)

massage yourself! i tend to need to focus on massaging out my neck, shoulders, and arms primarily, as well as my legs on occasion, and am also fortunate enough that my partner helps massage out my muscle aches and pains when able as well, but i know that isn’t everyone’s circumstance

if you’re by a window and the sun isn’t too bright, or you have sunglasses handy, try looking out the window and watching everything move no matter how small or slight the movement is, and if you can maybe opening the window weather-permitting to let in some air if that’s feasible and safe for you

That’s all i have the spoons to write for now, but figured i’d do my part to add to the list!

was thinking about AI recently and idk if it's completely true but I don't think there are many, if any, creative pursuits that completely faded out of existence because of technology.

there are many many creative arts where everyday jobs decreased or vanished because of technology, like calligraphy, penmanship, knitting, sewing, woodworking by hand, bookbinding, etc. but all those crafts are still alive and well, just mostly in hobby form. crochet videos on youtube get millions of views even though we don't need to make clothes by hand anymore. supermarkets have thousands of pre-made packaged food items, and people still spend hours learning how to make bread and cakes. at my university's mediaeval club, i often see people making chainmail by hand even though it hasn't been necessary for hundreds of years.

furthermore, it's also still possible to find professionals who you can pay for their craft too. it's nowhere near as common as it used to be, obviously, but it's still possible. like, there are still people investing time into studying calligraphy and a market of people willing to pay for it, and the printing press was invented over five hundred years ago.

AI is moving scary fast, and i will always hate that it's making it so much harder for artists and writers and musicians and all creative folk to earn money, but it's kinda comforting to think that no matter how advanced technology gets, there'll always be communities of people who indulge in and perfect those crafts, whether for the aim of selling it, or purely for the enjoyment of the craft itself

you know, recovering from my first major surgery really puts my chronic pain in perspective... im not using any opioid pain management, and this just feels like a fibromyalgia flare in a different spot. cant wait to tell my doctor THAT comparison. its really no wonder i stop being able to function.
