“Why would coco copy the spells in the book without thinking?” YAAAAYY this is a great question that reveals a lot about cocos unique perspective on magic as a result of the world of Witch Hat Atelier. Maybe the most minor spoilers possible ahead. Like, seriously minor. Really it makes perfect sense because as we learn, witches are VERY specific about how magic is presented to the unknowing public. They don’t know how magic works, what spells exist, how it’s used, anything really. They have limited exposure and the majority of it is through tools and useful spells in their lives. So if we think about it from cocos perspective she’s thinking a few things,

1, magic can’t be used on people or living things

2, magic is a helpful tool

3, magic has never hurt me or anyone else

What I think is really important to remember is that witches make sure that magic is not seen as something that could be used as a weapon. They also are even more strict about magic not being used on people. So if we take this into account, coco’s behavior makes perfect sense, she wouldn’t see magic as potentially being dangerous because in her experience it never HAS been.

The reason Qifrey is so awesome and relatable is because he wants to live. Man in his twenties being ominous as hell and breaking laws left and right and messing with forces beyond comprehension and lying to the cops and doing horrible things to the people who love him most and constantly destroying his own mental health and you peel back the layers and the motivation is "God I want to grow old someday."
