We went to the Waitomo caves and saw glow worms! Bioluminescent bugs that stick to the walls of caves/dark damp places in the forest. I have no pics of the worms, it wasn't allowed, it disturbs the glow cycle if someone flashes light. Ranger Clive gave us a history lesson at Mintaro hut! There was a famous piano delivery to one of the huts years and years ago. We went to see that piano the next day. It's really cool, but it doesn't work anymore. Our day 1 hike/hut on Milford trek! Our hut ranger that night took us on a great nature walk, teaching us about plants and animals in the area! Also, had a beautiful ferry ride to the trail head.
