This is Jacob. @jacobrichler He wrote the 1st review of @starfishoyster that was printed Dec1 2001 - such a wild ride since then. It’s a rare thing as a Restaurateur - to meet the Critic. This is an OG story - pre-Social Media, when the was just…Media Back then, young, fresh Paddy telephoned (landline) the 5 print media Food Editors in Toronto, and left a voice message. “ Hi there I’m Patrick McMurray, I just opened up Starfish Oysterbed Grill at 100 Adelaide St. East. We just opened today Wednesday, November 14th. Please send your food critic. Thanks.” We had barely cooked a StaffMeal let alone full service. Jacob was 1st to arrive, and apparently liked the place….@chefmarthaw cooking, and Oysters…then sent us on our way with a fab review. Visited the reopened @fruitmarketgallery today. The new warehouse space is amazing and thought Karla Black’s “Waiver for Shade” was an impressive installation. Less successful for me was her preposterously titled “Punctuation. Is pretty popular; nobody wants to admit much”.
