French ancestry.
EAC stylist.
MC’s best friend.
He is known for being very sassy and having a sharp tongue.
He cares a lot about the MC. They often meet even when they don’t work, and shop together.
In a story, Hugo put a poster of Tom Cruise in MC's room to make her feel like home.
He and the MC gift chocolate to each other on Valentine’s Day. It’s an annual custom for them.
He is extremely talented at his job, and can transform any woman into a beauty.
Whenever MC moves while he’s doing her hair or makeup, he scolds her to make her stay still.
Also scolds her whenever she shows up with bad skin because she ate too much ice cream, or didn’t do skin care properly. If one thing about her appearance looks “off”, he’ll act theatrical because he is a perfectionist.
He is homosexual, and was shown to be blushing when he saw Yuzuru in person for the first time.
In Boss’ route, Hugo (who doesn’t know MC’s boyfriend is Boss) tells MC that if her boyfriend doesn’t want to sleep with her, it probably means he’s impotent since he’s close to being 40 yo. He then gave her a “magic pill”, which made both MC and Boss exasperated.
He wears nail polish.
According to MC, Hugo doesn’t go in for empty flattery. He means what he says when he compliments someone.
When he isn’t being clear about something, it’s because something is on his mind.
MC says Hugo understands everyone, man or woman.
He and MC usually kiss each other on the cheek as a greeting, or to say good bye, which fits very well with his French background.
Not only is he a stylist, but it's been shown that he also knows how to create or fix broken agent tools. He also develops lingerie for female agents that are practical, equipped with mics and cameras, and are comfortable to wear. He's very included in the EAC's work, going beyond his role as a simple stylist.
He has a cousin named Luca, who looks a lot like him and also has the same job.
Luca
Either French or Japanese ancestry (supposed).
Former makeup artist | Works under the MC in her freelance agency.
He appears for the first time in Kazuomi's Season 4.
Luca has brown hair and eyes. He wears an elegant suit and gives off the same vibe as Hugo.
Luca is Hugo's cousin.
At Hugo's urging, Luca abandoned his career as a makeup artist and entered the world of espionage like him.
Hugo is the one who introduced Luca to the MC when she decided to start up her own agency.
Just like his cousin, Luca is skilled not only in the beauty department, but also in many other things. He assists the MC with many tasks linked to her missions.
MC gets along with Luca just as well as she does with Hugo.
MC once said that Luca brings so much life in the office, it becomes very quiet when he's not here.
Luca doesn't like having nothing to do. He said it doesn't suit his personality.
Old Man Shige
Japanese ancestry.
EAC’s head mechanic.
His actual name is Daijiro Shigematsu.
He owns a little old watch shop on the backstreets of Ginza. The shop is just a front for his real job. There’s a hidden door in that shop, to escape if needed.
He once called the MC his “favorite fledgling agent”.
MC describes him as stubborn, hardheaded, with an uncooperative nature, but she adds that his skills are unparalleled.
He specializes in intelligence gathering tools.
He thinks of watches as living things, especially old ones. He refused to sell the antique watch Yuzuru was interested in because it was dear to him, but after Yuzuru gave him a satisfactory answer about what the passage of time means to him, he offered it to him.
He isn’t someone who is influenced by money.
Due to his reaction after MC’s comment about how similar he and Hugo are, and MC’s own comment about the two men’s relationship, it appears that Shige and Hugo fought in the past and also seem to be related, although that latter suggestion needs official confirmation.
Shige was also seen going to the EAC's headquarters in New York. He works on creating systems for the agency.
Theo Maria Bertolucci
Italian ancestry.
One of the top EAC agents | Joins the GoE (Garden of Eden) in Kei's route.
He appears for the first time in every Love Interest's Jealous Kisses story.
He's assigned to the EAC's Italy office, and as such works under a different case officer than the MC, meaning he doesn't work under the same Boss.
He’s the youngest child of an Italian-American mafia family, and joined the EAC to run away from that. Theo mentioned that he has enemies all over the world, including family members, for some of them.
He has a ton of half-brothers and sisters. Theo is the sixth son among the Bertolucci brothers.
From the eldest to the youngest, the 6 Bertolucci brothers are called: Claudio, Eliseo, Fulvio, Genesio, Ilario and then Theo. The Don of their family is their father, Francesco. They are introduced in Kei's route.
Theo said that he argues a lot with his brothers now, but back then he was the 'baby'. Although, it is clear that Theo is still doted on a lot by his family, even now, and that they're very protective of him.
He and his brothers all have different mothers. Since treating women right is part of the Bertolucci's etiquette, all the mothers got along well and were united.
He and MC were known as the EAC’s dynamic duo, they worked together on previous missions and were considered to be the best. The other agents respect them and their opinions, as shown in Yuzuru's Global Genius story.
He and MC were constant companions in both their professional and personal lives at some point. They went undercover as a couple for 1 month for a long haul mission, and almost became an actual couple, but they finished the mission early, and were soon assigned new missions. After some time of not seeing each other, their feelings faded.
He's a handsy guy. Touching people in a friendly or flirty manner is natural for him.
Theo is one of the most capable spies in the world, and he's incredibly skilled in hand-to-hand combat. He underwent special forces training and has real combat experience.
He’s a wild driver, and he added that it means he’s good in a car chase.
It’s shown that he has an interest and deep affection for the MC. At the very least, he loves to flirt with her as he does with many women.
In Kei's route, Theo and Yuzuru are shown speaking Italian together when they are alone.
Theo's Italian family had a long relationship with a family of leather craftspeople/artisans, because they used a lot of leather products. Theo says that Yuzuru reminds him of these artisans.
In Boss' route, Theo is at some point pushed to take a mission that will have him betray the MC. Despite fighting against it, he didn't refuse the mission and ended up putting the MC in a tough spot. After she and the Boss discover this, he ends up being banished to live in exile, in Corsica, where he'll work for the Boss for free, as punishment. He sincerely apologizes to the MC and they part on good terms.
In Kei's route, Theo often calls Kei "angel" due to his appearance.
In Yuzuru's Global Genius story, Yuzu reveals to MC that when he ran a background check on Theo, he found out Theo never caused any problems at school when he was younger, but he hung out with some people Yuzu didn't get along with, such as the "popular jocks", who would shove him into lockers and tie him to basketball hoops. However, Yuzu adds that Theo used to protect kids similar to Yuzu from these students.
*Kazuomi's Side Characters*
Zack Thompson
Mexican ancestry.
Real-estate developer.
He appears for the first time in Kazuomi's "Lover Occultus -First Night-".
He's Kazuomi's foster father.
He has long white hair tied in a low ponytail and brown eyes. He also has a gold tooth. He wears a cross necklace and a shirt patterned with marijuana leaves.
He's often smoking a cigar, as well as "grass".
He lives in the farm he owns in Mexico.
Zack has his own airfield in front of his mansion. He also owns a garage.
Similarly to Kazuomi, Zack keeps his ear to the ground and knows what's happening all over the world. The CIA is always after him, too.
Like Kazuomi, he's extremely talented at gambling.
He is a successful businessman.
People are very intimidated by him as he can be scary and dangerous. However, he can be very welcoming and warm when he likes someone. That's shown when after being wary of MC, he becomes very interested in her and welcomes her with open arms.
At his residence, there are tons of cannabis fields growing right in front of the entrance. That shocked MC when she came to meet him for the first time. It also shocked Kazuomi when he was adopted by him at 16 yo.
In Kazuomi's route, MC never shares her actual name with anyone she doesn't trust enough. She tells Zack her name as a symbol of her trust, and because she didn't want to hide her identity from Kazuomi's paternal figure.
Zack met Kazuomi when he went to a casino, in Roppongi (Japan). He found him interesting and was impressed after seeing him skillfully cheating at poker. He met him a second time 2 weeks later, played against Kazuomi at poker and kept losing. He praised him and asked him to follow him to Mexico, which Kazuomi accepted.
Before returning to Mexico with Kazuomi, he brought him to live in a motel he owned and built. When the motel was renovated, Zack requested that everything be moved to his current mansion in Mexico. As a result, the foyer and Kazuomi’s rooms in the mansion are identical to those in the motel where they first lived together.
In Zack's letter from a VIP event, Zack wrote that raising a kid is like 'gambling', and that he looked forward to seeing how Kazuomi would turn out.
Aside from Kazuomi, Zack adopted many kids from different ethnicities and ages.
Kazuomi said in a letter from a VIP event that he could smell the 'hemp' from Zack from the moment they met, but was still shocked to see the huge fields meant for marijuana. Zack laughed at his reaction and said he'd get used to it.
Zack is the one who taught Kazuomi about the pleasure of good alcohol and beautiful women. He's the one who made him drink vodka even as a teen, and teased him later about how he used to take baby sips back then.
MC once said in a casual way that Zack can be pretty self-centered.
Zack said that he only acknowledges those who seek an equal relationship with him.
Out of all his kids, Zack said Kazuomi is the most caring, even though he tries to play it off.
Kazuomi mentioned that Zack is a bold person, but that he can lack a bit of finesse sometimes as he can be pretty sloppy with the people he decides to work with.
Zack never told Kazuomi until it was discovered in his Season 5, but he actually knew his father from before Kazuomi was born. However, he never found him again after he disappeared when Kazuomi was 16.
Kazuomi once thought to himself that, while Zack and his actual dad are polar opposites, for some reason he can see shadows of his father in Zack.
Whenever Zack gets drunk, Kazuomi always has to bring this heavy, 'giant man' back to his bedroom. He said it is the hardest job in the world. However, Kazuomi noted that as Zack became older, he clearly had less muscle mass than before.
Leila Watson
American ancestry & citizenship.
22 yo.
World-famous Burlesque dancer | Debuting Hollywood actress.
She has pure blond hair and blue eyes.
She first appears in Kazuomi's Lover's Nudus.
She's seen as a fashion icon for young American girls, and brought burlesque back into the mainstream.
She performs in Chicago.
Leila used to be homeless and was helped by Kazuomi when they met.
She is financially supported by multiple patrons in her career, but her biggest financial backer is Kazuomi. She was initially suspected of prostituti*n before making her Hollywood debut as an actress.
Despite her classy and glamorous appearance, Leila has a very immature and petty behavior. It's depicted when she tried to imply she and Kazuomi had an intimate relationship, even if it was fake. Her intention was to make MC jealous of her and make them break up. However, MC knew she was faking everything.
It was shown that Leila secretly trains very hard to keep improving her dancing. MC saw her rehearse late at night at a dance studio when the place was empty.
Despite her little jabs at MC, Kazuomi and MC both end up treating her as a child they're proud of because of her young age and hardworking nature.
Benjamin Louis
Unknown ancestry.
FBI agent.
He first appears in Kazuomi's Season 5 Epilogue -Gray Lover-.
He is one of Zack's children.
Ben is said to be the pride of the FBI as one of their best elements. Zack is very proud of him and his professional success.
Ben is one year older than Kazuomi. They met at Zack's farm in Mexico when Kazuomi was 16 and Ben 17.
Ben always treated Kazuomi with fairness despite being older.
They both played pranks on Zack such as letting a lizard into the house one day. However, unlike Kazuomi, Ben always stopped the jokes from going too far. They always got scolded by Zack.
According to Kazuomi, Ben embodies the belief that humans are inherently good.
Kazuomi and Ben had personalities that are diametrically opposed. However, they also had similarities. Among Zack's children, the two of them were exceptionally strong at gambling and quick-witted.
Unlike Kazuomi, Ben would never cheat in a game or resort to dishonest methods.
When they were young, Kazuomi and Ben had made a promise to rule the world together, one day.
Kazuomi had only learned about Ben being in the FBI after he had already started appearing on the blacklist.
Mr. & Mrs. Shido
Unknown ancestries. They're supposedly Japanese, but Shido was rumored to be of Chinese descent.
Shady business man & Housewife.
They are Kazuomi's parents.
Kazuomi is said to be the spitting image of his father. However, Kazuomi often mentioned he didn't look like his mother at all.
They lived along with Kazuomi, until he was 16, in a big house located in a wealthy area in Japan. They had servants, such as a butler and maids, working for them to manage the house and chores.
Kazuomi described his mother as only having eyes for her husband. She was an elegant and quiet woman, who was very lonely. She would follow her husband around when he came home, but he would always ignore her. Kazuomi once said she'd pour her affection into him instead.
Shido was barely home, and often ignored his wife when he came back. He had many mistresses.
Kazuomi once said that his father would have done absolutely anything for his business, and that he got his hands dirty behind the scenes to make sure it was a success. He would sometimes come home with a group of threatening men he'd invite to a room to talk.
It was shown in the Revenge & Challenge and Revealed Lover VIP events that Kazuomi's father taught him gambling tricks, and has a natural talent for gambling that he passed down to his son.
The mother was from a rich family, and never had to cook her whole life as she always had servants working for her.
The only time she ever tried to cook was for Kazuomi, when she once decided, out of the blue, to bring him to a park so they could have a picnic. She messed up the savors and burnt some dishes, but despite everything, Kazuomi kept in mind this memory in a sort of affectionate way.
After finding intel about Kazuomi's father, MC learns his 'name' which is currently "Emmanuel Assad". 'Assad' meaning 'Lion' in Arabic. However, it is a fake name, as many other ones.
In Zack's Side Characters' Election story in the Japanese version, we get to learn more details about Kazuomi's father. Zack knew Kazuomi's father and was on good terms with him.
When they both met again in a New York club years ago after some time, Zack asked him what he should call him this time, to which he replied 'Shido' was fine.
When Shido and Zack met in New York, Shido revealed to him he had a kid, which is Kazuomi. He then proceeded to offer Zack a mysterious "job" that would be beneficial to him too.
Zack had described Shido's eyes as "ferocious and sharp", with a similar expression as Kazuomi's now.
One day, Shido abandoned his family and disappeared completely, leaving his wife and son behind with all his debts. When debt collectors came to announce this and threaten them, Kazuomi's mother showed an uncharacteristic side of her and protected Kazuomi with all that she had. She got hit by the men, but told Kazuomi to run. Reluctantly, Kazuomi escaped by the window after seeing her blood on the ground as they were restraining her. Kazuomi doesn't know whether she's still alive to this day.
In Kazuomi's Season 5, Kazuomi surprisingly meets his father again 17 years later. During their conversation, Kazuomi's father mentions that peace is troubling for businesses, and confesses he was the one behind the Ukraine and Israel conflicts. He was also the one who schemed to stop the construction of Kazuomi's Raven Tower, making it clear he saw his son as an opponent.
*Yuzuru's Side Characters*
Kengo Katayama
Japanese ancestry.
He's said to be in his 30s.
Yuzuru's right-hand man | SHIBA inc. employee.
He first appears in Yuzuru's Season 1.
Kengo is slightly older than Yuzuru. He is shown to have grey hair and wears an elegant suit.
He is great at reading people. He was always suspicious of MC's actual identity but trusted she was a good person.
Kengo and Yuzuru have known each other since they were children. Their families were friends.
After founding SHIBA inc., Yuzuru asked Kengo if he could join the company, which Kengo accepted. Kengo then left everything to work alongside Yuzuru, whom he had always believed would succeed.
Yuzuru once said that Kengo was starting to feel like family to him, especially after what happened with Nightmare, the VR game that triggered Yuzuru's past memories.
Yuzuru mentioned that Kengo only comes in his office when he has good news to report.
At work, Yuzuru and Kengo use formal speech and call each other by their last names. In private when no one is around, they become more casual and speak more comfortably. They also share drinks in Yuzuru's office from time to time.
Kengo once reminded Yuzuru of a past event where, as children, they both were playing around with one of the machines in Yuzuru's father's workshop and accidentally broke one.
Kengo added that Yuzuru was never good at keeping secrets because he went telling his father about the mistake even though Kengo told him he'd fix it.
He once reassured Yuzuru by telling him that, while he knows he might operate on a moral gray zone now, he trusts that Yuzuru will never cross the line and do something truly wrong. That he's strong enough to control it.
He added that the people that gather around him are wonderful people, despite being part of that moral gray zone as well, such as Kei, Kazuomi and the MC.
The fact that Kengo mentioned the MC as well shows he might have guessed MC's identity to some extent.
Jun Cassano Kurose
Japanese ancestry.
She's described to be either in her 50s or 60s.
Leather Craftsman | Creator of anything she can make.
She's Yuzuru's foster mother.
She was born in Osaka in Japan but now lives in Florence, Italy.
Jun appears for the first time in Yuzuru's Lover Occultus -First Night-.
Jun is an energetic, strong and colorful woman.
She has a slender figure, with short dyed hair and brown eyes. She wears a cool outfit with a leather jacket, and wears red lipstick.
She speaks both Japanese and Italian.
She married an Italian man hence her surname 'Cassano', but they later got divorced and she now lives on her own in Florence. She says that Italy suits her, and that she will live there for the rest of her life.
Jun was a close friend of Yuzuru's dad. One day, she received a letter from him along with an aptitude test taken by Yuzuru, proving his genius. Masaru, Yuzuru's father, told Jun that he wouldn't be able to provide the environment Yuzuru needs to reach his full potential, and thus, asked Jun to care for him abroad. He wanted her to be the one to take care of his son.
After Yuzuru's parents’ death, Jun decided to respect Masaru's wish. She came to Japan, and brought Yuzuru with her to Italy.
She is a very passionate craftswoman and can spend hours focusing on her creations without really taking care of herself.
She is a very messy person with an artistic and free-spirited soul. Her home is filled with random objects and everything is clustered and messy. Yuzuru often had to clean up after her and that's why he has a more minimalistic approach later when he has his own home.
In her house, she owns a dusty diplay cabinet where she keeps Yuzuru’s creations from when he was a kid. Among the creations, one little carved horse made by Yuzuru's hands is there.
She smokes and loves alcohol. She only has cheese and booze in her fridge, which bothers Yuzuru since he always cared about his health. Which is why, Yuzuru had to do most of the cooking when he lived with her.
Jun says Yuzuru’s cooking is too healthy and once commented that it lacked salt, to which Yuzuru replied that Italian food was simply too salty.
Yuzu used to make Jun play chess with him when he was a kid.
The reason Jun only took Yuzuru in and left Takumi behind was because she was already unsure she could raise one kid on her own. She felt extremely guilty about her decision and didn't want to separate the two brothers. However, she thought that was the right decision to ensure Yuzuru would be raised right.
Jun is the one who told Yuzuru he should hide the torn piece of his ear by wearing an earring.
Masaru and Megumi Shiba
Japanese ancestries & citizenships.
Yuzuru and Takumi's parents.
They were poor and worked extremely hard. Masaru was a craftsman who owned a workshop in the Arakawa area.
During an economical crisis, the sponsors of the workshop prioritized quantity over quality, abandoning them. This left the couple drowning in debt.
Desperate and unable to pay back the debts they accumulated, they hanged themselves under the Arakawa bridge one night in April, as snow and cherry blossoms were falling.
After their death, their house and the workshop were seized to settle their debts. What was in the house was disposed of, but most personal effects, such as arts and crafts from their sons' daycare, and photos, were entrusted to the Katayama family. Yuzuru and Takumi were sent to the orphanage after this.
Yuzuru left with some personal belongings and photos of his family before being taken in by Jun. There's an album photo of his family until his ninth birthday, as well as some things his father made for him. These things can now be found in Yuzuru's secret room at Raven Resort Tokyo.
Yuzuru remembers his parents as deeply loving people.
When the workshop was still in operation, this was where Yuzuru studied and played.
Takumi Shiba/Ortiz
Japanese ancestry & American citizenship.
27 yo.
ER doctor at NYU Medical Center.
Victoria found Takumi and reported it back to Yuzuru, with a 96% chance that it was his long-lost brother.
He is Yuzuru's biological brother, and 5 years younger than him.
He moved to the United States after being adopted by the Ortiz family at age six.
He was raised in the US, moving between cities like Chicago and Boston.
He now lives with his adoptive parents in New York, in a large, two-story home.
When Yuzuru came to meet him after receiving Victoria's information, Takumi firmly but politely told Yuzuru that he doesn't consider being Yuzuru Shiba's younger brother, as they weren't raised as siblings.
Takumi mentions he doesn't want to be publicly known as Yuzuru's brother to avoid his work and family life being disturbed.
When he was little, Takumi used to run up the road to go meet Yuzuru when he came back home from elementary school.
According to Yuzuru, Takumi's hands are similar to both his and their Dad's, but they're the hands of a doctor, not an engineer's.
In the Ortiz residence's garden, there are various implements that suggest barbecues are a common occurence, such as a cooler being near the barbecue. There is also a cherry blossom tree.
Yuzuru said that as a child, Takumi always desired some types of citrusy sodas, but was never able to drink them. As an adult, he's seen drinking and politely offering a can of citrus soda to Yuzuru once they meet.
Takumi says he vaguely remembers Yuzuru playing with him as kids. He also knew Yuzuru was the CEO of SHIBA inc, but never attached any significance to it.
Unlike Yuzuru who has clear memories of his past, Takumi only has fragments of them. He never had photos, albums or personal effects of his childhood to remember, since they either went to the Katayama family (a family the Shibas trusted), or taken by Yuzuru. Therefore, Takumi's memories of the Shiba family are vague, and unimportant to him.
Takumi and Yuzuru share the same blood type. It was specified when Yuzuru gave his blood to his little brother to save his life, after he was injured.
When they were little and the workshop was still in operation, Yuzuru made a toy car for Takumi. To create it, he used the machinery without permission, and got his hair caught in it. A part of his ear accidentally got cut due to that.
Takumi had kept his toy car even after being adopted. He asked Yuzuru to fix it for him after acknowledging him a bit more as his brother, since it had stopped working years ago, in Yuzuru's Genius in Despair story.
At work, Takumi gets along well with his colleagues. They respect him. He prioritizes patients over hospital profits. MC had said this side of him reminded her of Yuzuru.
MC described Yuzuru to only be an inch or so taller than Takumi.
When Yuzuru became the new owner of NYU Medical Center, Takumi was against his reforms that included using a lot of digitalization in the hospital. However, MC noted that despite arguing against Yuzuru about that, Takumi still mastered how to use the system, and even came up with ways to put it to better use.
Despite growing up in New York after his adoption, Takumi still shows signs of some distinctly Japanese gestures, such as bowing his head when thanking MC after she handed him coffee.

Chad Osbert Romley & Anne Romley
British ancestries & citizenships.
Earl and Countess of Scarbell | Ex top MI6 agents, known as legends.
They live in England.
They're Kei's godparents and adoptive grandparents.
They appear for the first time in Kei's "Lover Occultus -First Night-".
Anne has light blond hair and blue eyes, while Chad has white hair and blue eyes.
The Romleys own a town house, a country house, as well as their vineyard in France.
They are both very welcoming and warm people. When meeting the MC for the first time, Chad and Anne told her to simply call them by their names instead of using their titles. They are also very fond of Kei and love him deeply.
When they were active in the field as MI6 agents, their codenames were 'God' (Chad) and 'Nike' (Anne).
Chad and Anne are happily married. Although we don't know how many children they had, we know their eldest daughter is named Emma. Emma later gets married to a man named Cyrus.
Chad had heard about the twins born to the Duke of St. Alfans, and took Kei in at the request of Kei's birth family.
They have six grandchildren through Emma and Cyrus, including Kei, who is adopted.
Emma and Cyrus adopted Kei, but because of their work as archaelogists they couldn't be home a lot. Chad and Anne took care of Kei most of the time and he lived with them.
Anne taught Kei how to brew tea correctly, and that's why he makes it perfectly every day now.
Soon after Kei moved in with them, Anne kept changing her pudding recipe after noticing Kei disliked it secretly. She ended up finding the right recipe in the end after trying again a few times.
Chad and Anne often told Kei he should find someone he wants to marry as they wanted him to be happy. Kei always rejected the idea. Which is why, Emma and them were surprised when Kei mentioned he was seeing the MC and introduced her to his grandparents. Emma and Cyrus told Kei they wanted to meet her as well.
Chad and Anne are acquainted with Caleb Townsend, who is a marquess, as well as their former colleage at MI6.
However, Caleb has always been in love and obsessed with Chad all these years, and tried to get close to him. They were always wary of him due to that, and managed to keep him in check by showing him how strong their love was.
However, they never talked to Kei about him out of protection, until Kei met him personally in his route. They felt guilty for not having put an end to Caleb sooner, and apologized to Kei and the MC for the mess they became involved in.
Anne and Chad confessed they can't forgive what Caleb did to both Kei and MC. They were ready to take matters into their own hands, and with a suppressed rage, thought about getting rid of Caleb once and for all. However, Kei and MC told them they would deal with him themselves.
Because of Caleb's obsession with Chad and his twisted love, Anne (MI6's greatest agent) protected Chad from him. She knows Caleb's exact movements and fighting style. At MC's request, Anne taught her how to fight Caleb by helping her make use of her flexibility and speed, and sharing her knowledge on his combat skills. Anne also told MC she thinks she will surpass her someday.
Chad had a favorite white horse back in his vineyard in France. It was called 'Libre' (which means 'Free' in French). However, the horse was killed and eaten by Caleb.
Since Chad loved Libre and Caleb couldn't get Chad's love directly, he got it "indirectly" by eating the horse Chad loved instead, according to his own twisted logic.
That horrible scene traumatized Kei as he saw it happen before his eyes, and the dead Libre was later replaced by a new similar white horse with the same name, possibly to ease Kei's trauma.
Kai Soejima

Russian soldier | Former captain/colonel in the GRU (Russia's foreign military intelligence agency) | Becomes a GoE (Garden of Eden) operative | Becomes the official heir to the St. Alfans dukedom.
Kai is Kei's twin brother.
He has white hair and amber eyes that are paler than Kei's. Unlike his twin who has bangs to hide his scar, Kai's forehead is exposed.
He appears for the first time in Kei's Season 3. He also makes an appearance in Boss' Season 3.
He is fluent in Russian, but also in Italian.
Kai uses a shashka weapon as a soldier and is extremely skilled in his combat style. Kai tried to kill Kei and the MC back in Kei's Season 3.
Back when Kai wanted to kill Kei, he trained around 10 women (including Sister Sophia) to become assassins working for him. The women shared the same characteristic of using male names when they surfaced.
In Kei's Blessed Lover, Kai comes back again to contact Kei, after remembering his repressed memories of Caleb Townsend and the day he met Kei for the first time.
Kai confesses later that when he was with the Russian military, it felt like he was brainwashed. After freeing himself from that, he sometimes has PTSD related to his military service.
Due to being in the military since he was a child, Kai was confused about civilian life. He learned more about it through Josh and Kei.
Kai and Kei were born from their parents' sinful relationship between the duke of St. Alfans and a nun. In the end, Kai is the only one who grew up with his father. However, to avoid tarnishing the St. Alfanses' name, Kai was said to be Louis' younger brother, not his actual son.
Kai was originally believed to be stillborn and a forbidden child for being illegitimate. In the end, he began breathing and was deemed a miracle child by the Vatican, unlike Kei who was not acknowledged.
Kai lived 8 years with the St. Alfanses and was raised by his biological father, Louis. He was then captured by Caleb Townsend. He met Kei for the first time at Caleb's summer house.
When the twins finally met, Kai believed he had lived a good life, unlike Kei, who had struggled in an orphanage. That’s why he chose to sacrifice himself, urging Kei to run away while Caleb was gone. The twins switched shirts to fool Caleb, allowing Kei to escape.
When Kai was a kid, he had the same honey blond hair color as Kei. His hair gradually became white after having experienced intense stress after meeting Caleb and joining the military as a child.
Kai told MC that if he doesn't do anything to his hair after having washed it, it comes out looking exactly like Kei's.
According to Kai, when Kei asked him if Louis (their biological father) had been a good father to him, Kai responded that saying he was a good father would be an overstatement, but that he wasn't a bad father either.
Kai wasn't allowed to go out too much when he lived with the St. Alfanses and was ignorant about many things.
Kai inherited a pendant from his father. Inside it is a photo of his and Kei's mother. Kai gave it to Kei later in his Blessed Lover story so he could see how their mother looked like.
At Josh's request, Kai stayed in the church Josh served at when Kai deserted the military after remembering his past.
Kai asked Kei to make him an official member of the GoE (Garden of Eden, Kei's agency) in the Revealed Lover event. It was the first decision he made about his own future since leaving Russia.
In the Revealed Lover event, Kai confessed to Kei that he would never hand over MC as a sacrifice to the Vatican, even if it's for his parents' sake.
In Kai's PoV in one of Kei's stories, we learn Kai thinks of the MC as the strongest woman he's ever met, even stronger than the women he had trained to become assasins due to her agility, flexibility, speed and precision. He also mentioned that she could even be able to take him down if he were caught off guard in his sleep.
Kai used to call MC "Mary" (in reference to the Virgin Mary) as a way to mock her before due to Kei describing her as his saint. Now however, he calls her "Mary", genuinely believing in her good will after seeing how kind and tolerant she can be.
After deserting the Russian military, Kai has become their target as they try to get rid of him.
In the Revealed Lover VIP event, Kai apologizes to the MC for previously setting her up with Elliott as a way to annoy Kei.
MC once noticed that to stop himself from dissociating when remembering traumatic events, Kai digs his fingernails into the back of his hand, similarly to Kei.
Joshua Cillian White

He has ginger hair and green eyes. He has burn scars over his body, one visible on his face.
He appears for the first time in Kei's Paranormal Case Files.
Josh grew up at the orphanage along with Kei and Sophia. He shares a deep friendship with Kei.
He always had a soft spot for Sophia and secretly loves her. He sometimes tried to get more bread for her so that she could eat more back when they were children, because of how fragile and small she seemed.
Just like Kei and the other children, Josh was a victim of SA and violence within the church.
When they were kids, Kei set fire to the church and left after thinking Josh had died because of the priests and noblemen. The fire spread and burned their church down. Josh and Sophia survived, but got scarred. They both ended up at the same group home and grew up together. Josh then went to live at a proper church and joined a seminary to become a priest later.
In the fire incident, Josh was burned and he now has many scars. Kei feels guilty about what he did to them, but Josh forgave him as he understood the circumstances.
Josh had seen Kei on TV here and there before seeing him again in person, and was happy for him and his success.
Josh has never been with women before. He once confessed to Kei that it’s not because of the scars on his face and body, since the women he met said they didn't mind that. However, due to his past, he sadly said he cannot have intimacy in the ordinary way, just like Kei before he met MC. But now, Josh is devoted to his religion and God.
After the creation of the GoE (Garden of Eden, Kei's spy agency), Josh joined the team as their profiler, given his incredible knowledge in psychology and experience with people who confess at church. It's later discovered that he also became the team's sniper, considering his fortitude and powers of concentration. He actually hides a sniper rifle under his priest's robes during missions.
During charity events held by their church, or to make the GoE members happy, Josh often bakes his famous delicious cookies.
Josh is scared of fire ever since getting burned when he was a child. He freezes in place if put in a similar situation because of this traumatic experience.
Due to being the GoE's profiler, he is not made for infiltration.
When speaking as a priest, Josh's voice is gentle and gives the listener a sense of peace and stability.
Despite acknowledging Sophia's wrongdoings and own decisions, Josh still has faith she might one day come back to them.
Josh never blamed Kai for being Sophia's keeper, and told him that hating him for it isn't the right way of understanding why Sophia led that path. In the end, Josh is the one who helped Kai deal with his trauma and they both developed a deep bond.
Sophia Morgan

She has pure blond hair and blue eyes.
She appears for the first time in Kei's Paranormal Case Files.
She's a bit younger than Kei and Josh.
After the fire incident started by Kei when they were kids, she grew up with Josh in the same group home. She later chose to join a convent to become a nun.
Once every month when the "devil" came at church, Kei used to hide Sophia in the closet of a bedroom so she wouldn't endure SA, especially because Kei knew her youth would catch the eye of predators.
That's the reason why it took her so long to escape the church when Kei set fire to it. The fire spread to the bedrooms because of the strong wind. She wasn't with the other kids that night, and didn't know what was happening.
She got burns from that night, which were mentioned to at least be located on her arms and legs.
In her capacity as a nun, she went to Los Angeles before to provide help at a veteran's center. That's where she met Kai Soejima. Kai deceived her by making her think he worked at the center. He spent a long time getting information out of her, and trained her to become Kei's assassin. That's how Sophia became skilled in fighting people.
Sophia has always been in love with Kei. When they reunited, she wanted to have him for herself and became possessive. When he refused to be with her and said he'd prefer burning alive than forget his feelings for MC, she wanted to execute him.
Sophia claims her virginity has been preserved all her life for Kei, which shows that she was indeed saved from SA by the benefactors of the church, unlike Josh and Kei.
She briefly appears again in a later story to save Josh from dying when the GoE members were on a mission and got locked in a room. She escaped soon after and disappeared. It showed that despite everything, Sophia cares about Josh.
Louis St. Alfans & Ayla

Louis has blond, honey-colored hair and a crystal blue eye. He has lost his other eye and hides it behind his bangs. He is seen wearing a pure black priest robes and a purple stole. The purple color of the stole is associated with grief and repentance, as well as exorcisms.
Louis first appears in Kei's The Ex-Boyfriend's Bride Rescue Operation.
They are Kai and Kei’s parents. Their sons are illegitimate twins, born from their forbidden, taboo relationship that started at a young age.
They had planned on running away together, but when the time came, Ayla never joined Louis.
Louis has said that, in his lack of virtue, Ayla became pregnant. Kai was a stillborn but miraculously came back to life. However, Kei was still considered an 'unforgiven child' by the church, that wanted to bury him. To save Kei, Ayla took him and escaped. She entrusted him to the church Kei was later raised at, however, she made a poor choice.
The church was a heretical one who abused children. Even Louis wondered why she had made that choice after finding out. However, Louis' question couldn't be answered, as Ayla collapsed right after entrusting Kei, and fell into a coma.
Louis couldn't reach Ayla again, since she got imprisoned by the Vatican as a sacrifice after she fell into a coma. Since she managed to birth a miracle twin (Kai) who got revived when he was supposed to be a stillborn, she ended up being seen as "Mary's Miracle" by the church. Her appearance also remained young during her coma, which was also seen as a sign of being a Marian Apparition.
Due to her prolonged coma after multiple years, Ayla's body was reaching its limit. Louis wanted MC to replace her temporarily as a sacrifice to save his wife with modern medicine. Due to her unconditional love for Kei being recognized as the Holy Mother's love by high-ranking clergy, MC is seen as a possible replacement for Kei's mother. Once Ayla is saved, Louis said he wants to put an end to Mary's Miracle with Kei, and asked MC to be their Mary for a short time.
Louis never got to hold Kei in his arms since Ayla had to escape with him. He only got to meet Kai, who he later had to introduce to his noble family. It was decided that Kai would be publicly introduced as Louis' little brother instead of son, to avoid tarnishing their name with an illegitimate child.
Louis had later disappeared for decades. It was later found out, after reuniting with him, that he had been imprisoned in the Vatican.
Despite their opposed goals after finally meeting each other, Louis clearly has affection for Kei, even after stating his son was declared by the church to be an unwanted child. MC also saw how Louis looks genuinely happy when talking about Kei.
Louis has mentioned he had looked into the kind of missions the MC had experienced since meeting Kei.
Louis is extremely skilled at combat and highly trained. He has incredible physical control.
Louis and Don Francesco Bertolucci, Theo's father, are old friends. Francesco knows about Louis' love for his wife.
Caleb Townsend is the one who had taken Louis' eye. Before actually seeing Louis in person, Kei had remembered seeing his father's eyes trapped in some sort of liquid at Caleb's residence, when he was a child. He thought Caleb had killed his father, but it turned out to be false.
MC has said Louis is an enigmatic presence and hard to read. However, his emotions are genuine, like a young boy's.
Louis has no hesitation in expressing his feelings or thoughts about others. He is straightforward and simple in his expressions, unlike Kei.

Reika Setoyanagi
Japanese ancestry.

Mafia boss.
She's Seiichi's sister, who is 10 years older than him.
She first appears in Seiichi's Lover Occultus.
She has long brown hair, and brown eyes. She has a gourd-shaped birthmark on her neck. She wears red lipstick, and has a classy appearance, wearing heels that are about 4 or 5 inches.
Reika wears a jasmine scent.
When she's introduced in the story, Reika became the new CEO and leader of her mafia organization, which is disguised as an import and export company.
Reika and Seiichi were raised by their grandparents, as their parents had died when they were young.
Unlike her brother, Reika chose a path of wrongdoing after leaving the small island where she grew up.
Seiichi and her don’t seem to have been getting along, even as children. She feels a lot of hatred towards him, and doesn't want him, of all people, to be happy.
Due to their big age gap, Reika and her little brother had more of a parent-child relationship than a sister-brother one.
Unlike Seiichi, she just wanted to leave the island where she grew up. After she left the house where she lived with her brother and grandparents, she never came back nor stayed in contact with her family.
Seiichi and Reika reunite 20 years later after she left everything behind.
MC mentioned that Reika is surprisingly easy to provoke and rile up.
She keeps a pistol inside her pocket.
She was shown to propose a deal to Kazuomi, which he turned down. Later, Kazuomi gave MC evidence of Reika's organization wrongdoings, which involved human trafficking and drug smuggling.
Reika gets arrested by the FBI soon after the evidence is out, and goes to prison. However, she appears again in a later story.
Seiichi's Boss at the EAC

Former EAC Senior Agent | Seiichi's former Case Officer.
He is first mentioned in Seiichi's Revealed Lover VIP event story.
He's the one who invited Seiichi to join the EAC after he lost everything. He watched over him in his early days, and became similar to a father figure to him.
He died in the line of duty, on Christmas. He got shot by someone, in front of Seiichi.
Seiichi has kept a box where his previous boss' belongings are stored. Inside, there is a rusty gun, agent implements and a faded letter written by him. He wrote to Seiichi "Become an agent who doesn't flinch at sacrifice to carry on justice...".
Seiichi once mentioned that the path he led on his own after his boss' death was probably influenced by him. However, after having been too tainted by wrongdoing in the name of "justice", Seiichi now wants to choose a path without sacrifices.
Seiichi mentioned that even if he didn't end up becoming the kind of agent his boss expected of him back then, if they were to meet in the afterlife, his boss would surely laugh and say he did well enough.

Which LI is the best partner for the Masquerade Kiss 💋 MC, and why is he her true soulmate?
Thankfully, every Masquerade Kiss route gives the sense that every LI can be a different kind of soulmate to the MC. As you know yourself, each love story feels "right" despite having different themes and struggles. I think MK is intentionally written so that the MC has more than one soulmate. Each relationship explores a different aspect of what “true love” means for her. That’s what makes this title so rich: no route cancels out the others. They’re all canon in their own emotional way. While it's what all otomes are made for, I think MK does it better than some other titles.
That's why, in a very "corporate" answer way, I could just say that they're all her soulmates and call it a day, because it wouldn't be a lie.
But I won't do that. Or would I? I could. But would you like it? Nah, probably not. You like to be difficult like that...🙄😂 love you still
My own criteria for deciding a soulmate:
When deciding between Love Interests to know which one is the MC's soulmate, I always ask myself one question:
"If I were the developer, and I had the opportunity to make an anime adaptation of my game, which LI would I choose to be the MC's actual lover in this adaptation?"
Because unlike visual novels or mangas with alternate endings, an anime is difficult enough to create, hence why core decisions have to be made.
So, which guy is THE soulmate?
Out of the 4 outstanding LIs we have, there are 2 that, to me, could definitely be defined as the "one true soulmate" for MC. It'd be a battle between Kazuomi and Kei. Not that the other 2 aren't possibilities though.
Yuzuru and Seiichi are absolute gems, with Seiichi even being my actual second favorite "character-wise". Yuzuru's story is also up-there. But the writings that feel the most touching, and even "cinematic" in how events unfold in a beautiful way, to me, are Kazuomi's and Kei's.
I abolutely love Yuzuru as well, and he does have that cinematic quality too. And if we were thinking of who we would most likely love to date in real life, it'd definitely be someone like him, because of his many qualities. Speaking of which, you asked who acts as the best partner for MC, and I think all of them do, in their own beautiful way, but Yuzuru is part of the top.
However, for personal reasons, and because I'm seeing the patterns in the writing and advertisement of Voltage, I'd still think of Kazuomi and Kei as the most likely options as MC's soulmates.
Kei Soejima:
Kei has that very slow burn, beautifully depicted, kind of "forbidden" relationship that encompasses many inner struggles. It's so obvious that his writer pours a lot of love and research especially for him, as he turned out to have more advanced plot twists. Aside from that, his stories follow a more unique narration style, in my opinion.
At multiple times, the narrator refers to Kei and MC as the prince and the saint/his Mary/his princess? Whatever fit the story at that time. It's also seen when MC mentions, after they break up, "But Kei is not my prince, after all." (something around these lines). It's giving me the sense that Kei and MC are written to be the protagonists of a fairy tale, but a more "gothic romance" one. If we look at the other routes, we can see the difference in how Kei's story is handled.
Also, it’s a small detail, but I remember that in the beginning of one or two of Kei’s "core/important" stories, the title of said stories actually appears before you start reading, almost like the title page of a chapter.
It's not just seeing "Episode 1", and then you can start reading like usual. The name of the story pops before that (for only one of two though). It's a small thing, but it shows how much effort goes into making his love story feel like a fairy tale. As if their lives were already intertwined and we’re simply following their journey to their own Eden. Honestly, only people who’ve read Kei will understand what I mean, but it's blatant how Kei has extra care put into his writing starting from a certain point.
It's a beautiful story written out as a tragedy and a path to healing oneself. While the other routes are top tier just as much, it's simply that Kei's has a more cathartic quality to his in my opinion. For this reason, I think he could definitely be seen as MC's one true soulmate.
However... 👀
That's where Kazuomi intervenes.
Kazuomi Shido:
Kazuomi, on the other hand, feels like MC’s soulmate in a completely different way. Their bond isn’t about slow-burn and healing like Kei’s, it’s about intensity, chaos, and unpredictable fate. They are two people who shouldn’t work together on paper, but who end up mirroring each other perfectly in how they chase their ideals.
They look at the same future but walking opposite paths leading up to it. What makes Kazuomi feel like the soulmate is how he pushes MC to question herself, her beliefs, and what she truly wants out of life. In the same way, she makes him question himself, without knowing it herself.
He’s the embodiment of her “other side”, the one who tempts her to live for herself, not just her duty. Their love is dangerous, magnetic, and transformative. Like Kazuomi once told her: “What you and I have between us… It’s not controlled by you or me. It’s both of us… Together, like alchemy…”
Other than that, Kazuomi is the first route to have been released. And as we all know, that typically means he's the poster boy/the original/the true soulmate. Basically, if an anime adaptation were to be made, it'd be fair to assume he would be chosen as the actual LI, regardless of popularity.
While I don't know how otome games are made right at the beginning of their creation, it's fair to assume that the first LI to be created is seen as the representation of the whole title. He has to make a strong impression, as the first to be released. He has to embody the genre the title is going for.
Which is why, Kazuomi definitely represents what Masquerade Kiss is. The others do as well, but he probably owns that fashion even more than they do. The mystery, the chaos, the fun, the "Hollywood" movie vibe, etc... To me, We have so much to discover about him still, and he definitely hides more things than the others do.
While Kei has extra care put into how his story is handled and presented, Kazuomi has a narrative filled with major plot twists that were deliberately built up and concealed from the very beginning.
Also, you can see on multiple occasions that Kei and Yuzuru seem to know less about him and his past. Actually, it's okay to say it: they practically know nothing, and that tells a lot about Kazuomi.
While he seems so open, charismatic and warm, that's all a "masquerade". Everything is carefully concealed, even to his most trusted friends. So, yes, Kazuomi would be MC's actual soulmate given everything I said.
That's what I think, at the very least. At the end of the day, it's more of a simple choice based on who was created first, since I believe most companies work that way. But what I explained is what would happen if they had to choose based on narration alone.
If I were to explain things simply and put it bluntly:
Boss' story would not be suitable IF compared to the others because he has the lowest popularity and has plot holes since the story was finished early. But it'd make for an awesome and mainstream spy x spy romance if we didn't consider the others and he had more content to work with.
Yuzuru is up-there like I said, he'd definitely work well, but I think his personality, as it is at first, can be hard to swallow, so it probably wouldn't give "soulmate" vibes as much as the others. Of course, discovering his true nature is part of the journey, but I think he'd be less appealing as a first choice somehow.
Kei's story is incredibly well written and imo the best written out of other titles. But it comes with hardcore content and graphic scenes that don't always suit a more "universal" taste. It's very unique. It could go as a gothic romance, but even as a route among other titles, his storyline is very distinct and shockingly "raw" (which is not to everyone's taste).
Kazuomi is charismatic and pulls people in. He's very funny and playful, he has suprising sides which easily makes people fond of him. So to me, he's a more natural and simple choice. He's mainstream, and he's a reassuring LI. He also embodies plenty of qualities that are already appreciated in multiple fandoms.
As for who's the best partner?
They're all good partners. In terms of attention and care, they're all better than most real life men haha. If I had to choose, it'd be either Kazuomi and Yuzu.
Boss probably loses points on the fact that he's not as present as the others initially. Which is not really on him though.
And ironically, while I still think he'd make a good soulmate, Kei loses points on the fact that there is a lot of miscommunication sometimes, although it's all part of the process of being a couple. And while it's totally understandable and I don't blame him for it, the decisions he took sometimes in his life, for himself, hurt MC and her feelings weren't always considered. Which, considering Kei's past, is like I said: understandable. But we can't ignore the mutual sacrifice Kei and MC willingly do for each other.
Kazuomi, despite sometimes saying very harsh things he doesn't mean to the MC, is often seen caring for her even with small things. They both influence each other a lot in their couple too, which shows how close they became. They have that "long-lasting" couple aura now. They both didn't want to change for the other and were clear to not do that, but their strong mutual feelings naurally led them to it anyway, without them noticing.
Yuzuru is perfect as well because not only did he change his ways for her (he was a tough nut to crack at first though!! And very rude to her before haha), he's reached a point where protecting their love and nurturing it is a priority in his life. And of course, he cooks and cleans (although that's a basic thing to do, honestly, but he does it especially well).

Let's see, who would be the most doting father? Kazuomi of course. Is that surprising? 😆 I mean, this man is so extravagant and he loves buying gifts for the MC. So yeah, he will spoil his little princess and give her the world, literally. Besides, we all want Kazuomi to have a daughter who will be daddy's little girl. He will try to spend time with her and cherish every moment with his little girl. He will make sure to make her feel loved, important, and he will show her how much she means to him. Kei will protect his children and keep them happy at all costs. We can see how much Kei cares about his friends and the MC. He will be the same with his children, if not more. He will try his best to build a good relationship with his children and learn what it means to live for someone's sake and happiness. Kei will do his best to become a better man and a good father for his children. If he has a daughter, she will probably be raised as a lady with both beauty and strength. Kei is still learning about himself, and he's still learning the meaning of love, but we know that his children will be a blessing from heaven. They will be his little angels and a salvation for him 🕊️
Boss as a father will be so interesting to see because he's a spy like the MC. The kids will have spies as parents! Besides MK, I'm interested in Her Love in The Force's new VIP event with the LI's children. I don't read HLITF, but they finally have "What if" stories with their kids and they're so cute! I won't buy the event, but I'm curious to see what the stories are about and what kind of fathers the LI will be ☺️
Since MK is the only title I'm reading, I don't really have stories from other titles that I would like to see translated. Also, the stories that were already released in the Japanese app will be translated into English. So we just have to be patient!
