The fact that WOTC is unwilling to have a conversation about the Reserve List is disconcerting. I get that it is a promise, but being unwilling to go back on that promise, regardless of conversation, seems illogical. Even the US Constitution (which is a promise) has amendments, some of which completely go against the original document (or promise). I think people would be more willing to accept it, if you guys would actually engage in actual debate and conversation about it.
For reasons I am not allowed to give, it can’t be discussed. I understand how frustrating that is. Trust me, if you knew the history behind the scenes, no one is more frustrated than me, but that is the reality of the situation. It’s not something I have the power to change, so further discussing it won’t lead anywhere other than more frustration.
There are lots of things though where your input can change things, so I’d rather focus your energy on things where your passion can be put to use making Magic the best game it can be.
This sounds…ominous…somehow
To an extent I get the idea behind this.
But someone telling people to do something else because they won’t change anything is a sentiment that leaves a particularly gross taste in my mouth is the current socio-political climate.
Perhaps those who were a part of the history behind the senses should say something. If unwilling that’s more the reason to keep bringing up and talking about it. This applies to everything and not just here. If the people behind the scenes literally can’t do anything and for some reason can’t speak have them say so.
Someone has the power to answer questions. Someone has the power to change things. If they won’t talk you shouldn’t stop asking about it.
You should ask about it even more.
I feel like there needs to be a good way of doing both. Keeping asking the questions is importnat… but keeping on bugging Mark is also a problem. We need a way to start sending it further up the chain.
I mean, I generally don’t care about the power 9 and waffle between reprints to oblivion or just straight full banning and putting in museums. Still, there are a TON more cards on the reserve list then them that would be great to see back out in the wild proper….
I agree. Which is where my comment comes from. If he cannot answer than the people who can should he stepping forward. If not to answer our questions than to stop these kinds of questions bothering a person who can’t change anything.
Someone can change something.
But if they refuse to step forward then there are limited ways of asking or trying to get an answer. Until then these questions have to go somewhere. Perhaps if wizards keeps seeing these just sent to him they’ll eventually feel like they should answer something someday. Rosewater is being bothered with these questions because the people who they should be sent to apparently won’t take them. Which just, unfortunately, kind of makes him an glorified complaints hotline until a new line opens.
This is the conversation we need! But it’s not the conversation that WOTC is willing to having.
