Just a little reminder šš¼ā¤

Everyday
The first picture was taken a little over a year ago, I wasnāt quite at my biggest here as I was too embarrassed with myself to take a before pic. My starting weight was about 224 pounds and the second pic that I took last week on vacation I am 178lbs. Iāve lost 46lbs in total and gained about 6lbs in muscle but still have more to go. At first it was unbelievably tough but now I have made a lifestyle change and feel so much better about myself physically and mentally. Just figured I would post my progress here as I remember going through other peopleās post of their weight loss and fitness journeyās and it really inspired me!
Thank you!!!!
I know I say this a lot but thank you guys so much for all the love youāve shown me through my journey. Iām not where I want to be and some days are better than others. Iām very hard on myself so I think that I need to be doing better. But the positive feedback. The people who get encourage to start their journey makes me want to get back on my A game. Like it pushes me. I know I got this.
Itās been a rough journey. I will never be done. Once all the weight comes off I have to make sure that Iām still active and eating right to never gain this much weight back.
I just never knew I would have so many people looking at me as motivation. I have so many friends or people I know that lost weight and Iām looking at them that way. Iām just like oh if I want the cupcake Iāll have it. Lol but then turn around like damn I need to get it togetherā¦I digress! But thanks you guys! I probably get annoying thank you all, all the time but you donāt understand how much those kind and motivating words mean to me. My mom is the only person who pushes me. My friends rarely say anything (they didnāt believe I was going to stick with it).
Thank you! Thank you! Sooooo much!!!
I canāt follow back on here because this is an extra blog off my main. So I donāt want anybody to think Iām stuck up. But my main blog is _blackqweenmagic. I follow everybody back!

I found this photo from high school (left) before I cared enough about myself to exercise and eat well. Fast forward to post graduate school and here I am, probably the healthiest Iāve been in my life. Iām still working hard, but itās important to honor the journey and remember how far weāve come. I believe I weigh about the same in both photos (max 5 lb difference)
My story, and my first progress pictures! Ack!
I canāt believe Iām doing this, but I think itās time! This is my story. Itās also my first official progress picture. Yeah, I got this far without taking intentional progress pictures. WUT? Iāve never shown myself in this kind of outfit, but Iām feeling good. Yāknow!? Iām feeling good! I wanted to wear something that would really show my shape and how it changes. Iāll use this outfit for however long it fits!
Background: My weight problems were mostly a function of suppressing intrusive thoughts and panic. Both of my parents are alcoholics and my siblings and I were emotionally abused and physically intimidated often. Physical abuse occurred occasionally. I grew up without heat, hot water, a bed, or a winter coat. I ate for comfort and I ate to feel numb. Eating until I physically felt nauseated and needed to vomit was frequent.
The turning point: I left home. I was about to set theĀ horizon into the college life, but the night before my orientation my parents refused to drop me off. So, I called my friend! We threw my stuff in the trunk and we went Ā I ghosted. I started school. I loved theĀ campus. I had a bed and my dorm room was warm. That was a good start Iād say!
During my first semester, I was diagnosed with both obstructive sleep apnea and prediabetes. I felt miserable 24/7. I was 312 lbs, at only 5ā3ā. It hurt to move and it was hard to breathe. I knew I needed to change my lifestyle, but I still struggled immensely with panic attacks and comfort eating despite my new environment. So, I started getting therapy. NEVER be embarrassed to get therapy. I was living by myself where no one could abuse me. I was an adult now and got to decide where I wanted to be, and when. I was truly making my own decisions for the first time. It was time to heal. So, I started retraining my tastebuds, dialing down the portion sizes, and decided every time I had the urge to compulsively eat that Iād go outside and walk until the feeling went away.
Little-by-little, it formed into habits. Iād leap forward and then step back, but I crawled along; always determined. In the first four months, I lost 45 lbs. The first year? 110 lbs. Trust me, I wasnāt flawless. Iām still not. Who the Heck is? But, I saw I could struggle and succeed at the same time. Iām here almost nine years later into this wild ride to tell you, youāll never fail if you keep working. Struggle isnāt failure.
Today: I have absolutely no issues with OSA, blood sugar, or GERD anymore. Of course, I still have anxiety, but I feel like I own all the tools to reign it in the majority of the time. No oneās perfect, and no one needs to be! I eat real food in reasonable quantities, I donāt have food rules (except allergies), I donāt diet, I always have fun when I eat and exercise, and I want to be strong. My pursuit is physical and mental health and physical and mental strength. I want energy, I want power. I have some loose skin on the bottom of my stomach, my inner thighs, and mostly my arms. Iām really starting to become OK with that. This isnāt about media images. This is about taking the invasive voice in my head, locking it in a room, and telling it to āShut. The. Fuck. Up. ā
Life is time, and for however long life is I have the time for me. The crux of my story is Iām saying no to abuse. No, to the abuse during my childhood. No, to abusing myself.
