Tagged by @terracyte to post some lines for a wip, and I didn‘t see it it for like… a week bc my brain is uhm. I don‘t have a brain. Period.

"...-nd with Naoya Zen'in being the last competitor in this year's final, we can now officially congratulate Nanami Kento on the title of World Champion!" the commentator drones from the tv, unceremoniously ripping both Satoru and Suguru out of their respective trances.

"This will be the first time in ten years that the gold does not go to Russia's Satoru Gojo, who is taking a surprising but probably well-deserved break for the rest of the season, as has been announced by his press team a few days earlier."

The other commentator is quick to start a discussion about how Satoru's absence affects the quality of the competition and how all three of his world records remain unbroken, but the sound already moved to the background of Satoru's perception again as Suguru drops the last piece of sushi he's been about to stuff into his mouth.

Ehehe, the only wip I have atm is my figure skating au and this is part of a very very uncomfortable scene, so I‘m not sure it‘ll actually make it into the final chapter :/. Let‘s see…

Well, as above mentioned: Tagged by @cablecurrent​ (betrayal, ma’am, this scene is so good. I might not have read it but it’s probably really cool anyway so I demand to read more! TT) 

“I bet if it’d been Dr. Getou on this table you would've tried harder,” Nanami spits out and disappears out of his sight.

He blinks again.

There’s too much pain in his head all of a sudden, the ringing sounds closing in on him, burning whatever is left of his neuronal network up there. He doesn’t react outwardly, can’t, really. Too detached, feeling like his body is barely his own. His entire core is cold now.

“What’s next?” he asks his assisting operator, and his own voice sounds about 10 miles away. Maybe like a diver sounds screaming underwater before losing all of his oxygen. Before he pathetically drowns with his lungs full of fluid, bursting the smallest of his airways and the rest of his lung tissue. 

He doesn’t look over, just glances at the door closing in front of him automatically again.

It’s not true.

He tried so hard for Haibara, he tried so hard for Nanami and … and they don’t see it. How can they see when all he ever shows them is perfection? If this had been Suguru, he’d … he would’ve crumpled. He would’ve died right there with him. But he couldn’t have tried harder, even for Suguru. He couldn’t have done better because he’s done his absolute best. This was a complication he could not salvage, he could not solve, and he couldn’t have solved it for Suguru, either. He would’ve watched Suguru die like Nanami had to watch Haibara die, on his table and in a heap of blood and viscera and brain matter and liquor. 

There you go, wip or whatever - it’s just part of a really elaborate AU and I’m unsure how much of it makes it anywhere.
