Good morning!

Or afternoon, for most of you, and night for a few others. What should have been the start of our second-to-last week instead began with an additional 7 days added to our total funding period! Due to the effects of COVID-19, and the current global state, Kickstarter has been offering 7-day extensions to existing campaigns and we are happy to announce we were one of those campaigns. We thank you in advance for all your continued help and support, especially in such tense circumstances. Every little bit counts, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support we’ve received.

HIRAETH has a long way to go and a significant budget to make up, but we are hopeful we can make it! This book is a little slice of home for many, and it’s filled with exceptional work by some amazing talent. As I said before, one of my main goals in starting HIRAETH was to ensure that ever artist got a large, and as-fair-as-possible payout, but I need your help to make that a reality. “Hiraeth is a word which cannot be completely translated, meaning more than solely “missing something” or “missing home.” It implies the meaning of missing a time, an era, or a person - including homesickness for what may not exist any longer. It is associated with the bittersweet memory of missing something or someone, while being grateful of that/ their existence.”

The HIRAETH  art anthology brings together the talents and imagination of 28 dedicated artists.

I’ve always been fascinated by spaces, and the lives we choose to make in them, and the intersection of the magical and the mundane. Inspired by the Welsh concept of hiraeth, or the Portuguese saudade, or the Romanian dor, this anthology was created with home in mind. Included in this book are a myriad of locations - real, imagined, and something in between - inspired by the artist’s memories, narratives, and stories.

The final book will be a 6"x9" (roughly A5) matte softcover with over 50 pages of full-color, spread & single page artwork. Perfect bound, the softcover book will also feature a cover from Bex Glendining (@lgions on twitter).
