Exceptional - Closed

“Well, I suppose I was always striving to break your concentration once in a while…” Bry laughed quietly as Malavai strode over and pressed his lips to her forehead; for all that they both could easily kill those who stood in their way without hesitation, they were remarkably gentle with one another. Draping her arms around him, she tugged him down to join her on the bed, eager for his warmth. It was true, a war zone in an occupied galaxy was not the time or place that a normal couple would wish to bring a child into. But this child would be an Imperial son or daughter, the child of the Emperor’s Wrath, destined for greatness and glory - and raised strong and well to fight for their future. “Hum…about a week. I sensed their little life and spoke to the medical staff on base about it once I was a little more certain. Then, it was simply a matter of finding the proper and appropriate time to tell you. It has been a mad past week, and getting you alone has been…a trial. Watching you there, I recalled that proverb and…felt it appropriate. Surely, any child you give me would be beyond exceptional.” Truthfully, she had not actively been preventing conception since they had spoken of it the first time, some years ago and soon after their marriage. She had thought perhaps a Chiss woman and a human man could not reproduce, as was the case at times. But… “…I am pleased that you’re happy…I know it means a lot to you.”
Smiling was unavoidable - Quinn looked down at his wife, at this woman he had married, and felt a sense of distinct amazement as they lay down together. The prospect of a child was…both exciting and terrifying simultaneously, bringing an entirely new life to the galaxy, teaching them everything he knew and waiting to see what person they would become.
On the bed with her, he holds Bry close, resting a hand against her cheek, his thumb brushing against her skin, he sighed. “I am more happy than you could know. Well,” he laughed, correcting himself. “given your keen senses, it’s likely you do know the extent of my joy.”
Malavai kissed her, softly - he was incredibly eager to show her that extent. “How are you feeling? Is everything stable?” He knew he possibly sounded overbearing, but he couldn’t help it. An occurrence such as this allowed for an incredible amount of possible dangers, not even counting the increased likelihood of injury in battle; he would always worry. And always calculate those variables, even if only to himself.
“And…I believe it would be you who would make them exceptional”
“I recognize that for most, bringing a child into a galaxy torn by war is a horrible thought - especially considering we are at the forefront of said war. But I am Sith - and you are an Imperial. Our children will be strong, I have no doubt. Perhaps you think I alone make them exceptional, but it takes two individuals to create life. You sell yourself too short, I think.” Why Bry termed it children and not simply their ‘child’, she did not know. She hardly considered such implications, simply pleased to be held by her husband, having such a conversation after so long. Laying back, she looked up at Malavai, crimson eyes fond, and brushed her fingers over his face affectionately. “It is early yet, but everything seems to be in order. The chief medical officer did not find any reason to be concerned yet. I’m sure you are already taking into consideration every possible outcome - I certainly hope they have your pretty eyes.” It was a silly trifle of a thing to talk about, but she wanted to impress upon Malavai that this was his child, this life that he had helped create, and not just hers. Not just theirs to ship off to the Sith Academy - though it was occupied at the moment after the Zakuul invasion. No, this child would be raised and taught by the both of them... “I’m able to function completely, if that is your concern - though I’ve been ordered to no longer venture into field work for the duration.”
